4/8/17–Jimmie Long

Jimmy “Jim” Parker Long, age 81, passed away with his loving family at his side at the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital April 6, 2017. Jim was born June 20, 1935, in Decherd to the late Jessie James Long and Bessie Barrie Henley Long. Jim resided in Hillsboro with his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lula (Lou) Long. Before retirement he was employed with Carrier in Morrison. Jim enjoyed spending time taking drives and stopping at yard sales, but most of all he enjoyed his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by four sisters; Lorene Bishop, Naomi Green, Rachel Green, and Eva Marie Long, and a brother; Winton (Bud) Long.

Jim is survived by his wife Lula (Lou) Long, a brother, Jessie Bare of Manchester, TN, and a sister, Faye Gipson of Hillsboro, TN, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made toward the Rutledge Hill Cemetery or the Roaks Cove Baptist Church.

4/6/17 — Joel Clay Rogers

Joel Clay Rogers of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his residence at the age of 49 years old.  Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2 PM at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. John Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 5 PM – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home and Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 1 PM till 2 PM at the Church.
Joel, the son of Jerry and Brenda Neal Rogers of Tullahoma, was born on November 6, 1967 in Shelbyville, TN. He was a 1986 graduate of THS and attended Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville. While in school he enjoyed playing sports including baseball, basketball and football. One of his favorite activities was sharing the skills he had learned playing sports with his daughter, nephews and niece. He also enjoyed attending their games and school functions. Joel had an immense love for his family and loved working side by side with his Dad building fences. He enjoyed collecting antiques and attending flea markets searching for treasures with his daughter, Maggie. He also enjoyed collecting rock and geodes with his nephews. He was an avid UT Football fan.
Joel is preceded in death by one brother, Chad Rogers.
In addition to his parents, Jerry and Brenda Rogers of Tullahoma, he is survived by his wife, Wendy Taylor Rogers of Tullahoma; daughter, Maggie Grace Rogers of Tullahoma; brother, Josh Rogers and his wife, Mindy of Tullahoma; sister, Amy Dodson and her husband, Chuck of Tullahoma; niece McKayla Rogers; nephews, Evan Rogers, Charlie Dodson and Chase Dodson and many good friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Trust Fund for his daughter, which is being established at Ascend Federal Credit Union. Please make checks payable to: Amy Rogers Dodson, Trustee of the Trust Fund for Maggie Grace Rogers.

4/7/17 — Barbara J. Duke

Barbara J Duke of Tullahoma, passed this life on Monday, April 3, 2017 at
Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, at the age of 73 years old.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, April 7, 2017 at 2 PM at
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Thomas officiating. Burial
will follow Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday,
April 6, 2017 from 5 PM – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Wiley and Helen Mourer. She was born
in Aurora, IL on May 4, 1943. She was a customer service representative
supervisor for Mid-State Communications Service. She attended the First
Church of Jesus Christ in Manchester. Her hobbies included all kinds of
crafting. She especially enjoyed painting and making jewelry and cards. She
enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and
was spending time teaching them crafts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Haskell Grant and two grandchildren, Stephanie Nicole Thomas and Nicholas
Cumbie.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Duke of Tullahoma; two daughters,
Debra Thomas and her husband, Bill of Decherd and Tammy George and her
husband, Hanford Cumbie of Andrews, SC; one brother, Raymond Mourer and his
wife, Debbie of Harvey, IL; sisters, Beverly Berry of Manchester and Jamie
Mourer of Paducah, KY; three grandchildren, Brandy Ballard and her husband,
John of Decherd, Darby Thomas of Decherd and Cale Thomas of Tullahoma; two
great grandchildren, Jenna and Preston Ballard and several nieces, nephews,
cousins, extended family member and many friends.

4/4/17–Harvey White

Harvey A. White of Manchester, Tennessee passed from this life on March 31, 2017, in his home surrounded by his wife and children.
He was a proud member of the Tennessee Army National Guard for 33 years and took great pride in not only in his work but in the relationships he built throughout the years.
Harvey leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Jan and two sons and daughter-in-love. Dr. Joshua White of Eugene, Oregon and Matthew and Shelbie White of Manchester, Tennessee. He was blessed with one granddaughter, Arden Rose White.
Visitation and Services will be held at Coffee County Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 4. Visitation is from 12-2 with Memorial Service beginning at 2.
Harvey lived a wonderful life all because he only saw the good in everyone.
He wanted to treat people the way he wanted to be treated.
If there was one thing he hated, just one thing, it was putting on a suit and tie. So he requested that no one needed or was expected to put on the noose or monkey suit to bid him farewell.

4/5/17 — Finis Randy Buckner

Finis Randy Buckner entered into this world March 11, 1952, departing peacefully with family surrounding him April 1, 2017. The proprietor of Central Funeral Home located in Manchester, Randy provided personal service and support while touching the lives of so many people in Middle Tennessee. Randy graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University majoring in Engineering and Architecture. His service to his community included the Rotary Club, the Industrial Board, and the Governor’s Advisory Board for Education in Coffee County. An avid pilot, his love for flying was second only to his love of his wife Terri to whom he has been married for 36 years. Randy was a member of the Red Hill Church of Christ in Manchester. His relationship with his Church family and his Lord provided comfort during these last months. Randy was preceded in death by his father Finis Malcolm Buckner. He is survived by his wife Terri Buckner of Manchester, his mother Allie Mae Hawk Buckner of Manchester, and his brother Frank Buckner of Hillsboro, and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday April 4th at Central Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will follow Wednesday April 5th at 12:00 noon from the Chapel at Central Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Hart officiating. Mr. Billy Frank Henley of Hillsboro, Tennessee, Age 79, was born December 11, 1937 in Hillsboro, TN and crossed the river to heaven’s golden shores on Sunday April 2, 2017. Mr. Henley was preceded in death by his loving parents: William Alexander “Bud” Henley and Mary Emma Buckner Henley; Daughter Phyllis Ann Henley; and seven siblings: Mary Emma Tucker, Lillie Ruth Baker, Andrew Jackson “Jack” Henley, James Lewis Henley, Luther Elisha Henley, Paul Edward Henley, and Carl Vernon Henley. Bill Frank Henley is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Hazel Virginia Bates Henley, and four daughters: Patricia Yvonne “Pat” Daughterty (Greg) of Horsebranch, KY; Donna Gale Bradford (Dr. William Bradford) of Tullahoma, TN; Barbara Elaine Sherrill (Philip) of Hillsboro, TN; and Cheryl Lynn Webb (Kerry) of Huntsville, AL; fourteen grandchildren: Adam Daugherty, Ashley Boyken (Matthew), Kelly Hall (Adam), Sandi Sidlow (Bobby), Melissa Jones (Jonathan), Stephen Sherrill (Anna), Dillon Medley, Dalton Medley, Missy Clement (Brett), Trent Webb (Laura), Jordan Webb, Austin Webb, Ann Merrill Harper, and Madison Ellen Bradford; three great grandchildren: Brinkley Faith Daugherty, John Sawyer Sidlow, and Zora Henley Sidlow; two brothers: William Thomas “Tom” Henley (Nancy) of Decherd, TN; and Clarence Wayne Henley (Nona) of Hillsboro, TN; and one sister: Judy Ann Nabors (Stanley) of Hillsboro, TN. Mr. Henley was a member of the Rutledge Hill Community Church for the past 50 years and served on the church board for many years. He retired from Wilton Corporation after 33 years as a Technical Engineer and registered Tool & Die Maker. His hobbies included woodworking, farming, fishing, gardening, enjoying nature, and spending time with his family. Visitation with the family will be Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Services will be held in the Central Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at the Rutledge Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro, TN.

Jack Davis of Manchester, passed this life on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at
Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga at the age of 81years old. Funeral
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 4 2017 at 2 PM at Noah’s Fork
Baptist Church with burial to follow at Farrar Hill Cemetery. Visitation
with the family will be Tuesday, April 4, from 1 PM until 2 PM.

Jack, the son of the late Elmer G. and Ethylee Vickers Davis, was born on
August 17, 1935 in Nashville, TN. He was a U S Army veteran and worked as
a mechanic. He enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles and target
shooting. He loved animals, especially his dog, Ginger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fran
Davis; brothers, Glenn Orville, Keith I and Elmer L Davis and sisters,
Ailsa Clements and Marjorie Lee Davis Green.

He is survived by one son, Brian Davis and his wife, Jennifer of
Manchester; four grandchildren, Kevin, Keith, Kyler and Arielle; three
great grandchildren and many loving friends and extended family.

4/1/17 — Vera Jean Watson Parks

Vera Jean Watson Parks, age 85, of Manchester, passed away on March 30,
2017, at the Manchester Healthcare. She was born on August 22, 1931 in
Hillsboro as the daughter of the late Elza Watson Sr. and Martha Perry
Watson. Vera and the late Charles Parks were married and resided in
Manchester. Vera was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time
visiting with family, especially her nieces and nephews. Vera was also
preceded in death by seven brothers; Roy, Carl, Harlan, Herman, Sam, Elza
Jr., and Leonard, and a sister; Argie Lynn.

Charlotte Ann Huff of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday, March 30,
2017 at her residence at the age of 77 years old. Funeral Services are
scheduled for Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 3 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral
Home with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation with the family
will be Sunday, April 2, from 1 PM until 3 PM.

Charlotte, a native of Coffee County, was the daughter of the late Johnny
and Gladys Bailey Ferrell. She was a Hairdresser and owned and operated
shops in Manchester and Tullahoma. She loved being a hairdresser. She was a
very artistic and creative person, enjoying decorating and flower
arranging. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and being with her
grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Donald Kenneth Huff, and sister, Betty Smith.

She is survived by one son, Elmer Huff of Manchester; one daughter, Melissa
McCornick and her husband, Rick of Shelby, NC; brother, Tommy Ferrell of
Grand Prairie, TX; sister, Elizabeth Bryson of Tullahoma; four
grandchildren, Ashley Duncan and her husband, William of Manchester,
Kierston Huff of Manchester, Brittany and Heather McCornick, both of
Shelby, NC; three great grandchildren, Grant Wiser, Remmington Black and
Raelynn Black and good friends, Larry Fann, Dan and Jennifer Smith and
children, Hagan, Derrick and Evan, all of Winchester.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to nieces, Gail Farrar
and Lynn Colyar.
