8/23/17 — Bobby Joe Howard

Mr. Bobby Joe Howard, a resident of Beech Grove, Tennessee, passed away on August 20, 2017 at his residence.
He was born to the late Bob John and Pearl Lois Ferrell Howard in Manchester, Tennessee on Dec. 24, 1952. He was also preceded in death by two children, Mary Jernigan and Billy Joe Howard, Jr.
Mr. Howard loved golf and fishing and was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
He survived by daughters Samantha Howard of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Jenifer Wilhoit and her husband Steve of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Delia Broadrick and her husband Joe of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Lisa Clark and her husband Keith of Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Surviving siblings are Billy Howard of Beech Grove, Tennessee; John Howard and his wife Cindy of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Mary Howard Martin of Tullahoma, Tennessee. Eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

8/23/17 — Louis Anthony Hendrix

Louis Anthony Hendrix age 52, passed away on August 19, 2017, in
Nashville at the St. Thomas West Hospital, with his family and his
veteran state troopers at his side. Louis was born December 19, 1964, in
Manchester, to his parents, the late Louis Harold Hendrix and Pearlie Mae
Randolph Hendrix. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Gary “Slim” Hendrix. Louis was a Master State Trooper and was
employed by the Tennessee State of Home Defense. He was one of the top
commercial vehicle enforcement experts and a veteran of the Tennessee
Highway Patrol and had an extensive successful career.
Louis is survived by a niece; Elizabeth Hendrix, a sister-in-law; Kay
Hendrix, a great nephew; Kevin Swales Jr., veterans of the Tennessee
Highway Patrol, and friends who knew and loved him.

8/20/17–Mary Jo Trimble

Mary Jo Trimble of Tullahoma passed this life on Thursday, August 17,
2017 at NHC Tullahoma at the age of 94. Mrs. Trimble was born in Gilmer,
Texas to the late Clayton and Addie Ora Matthews Hurt and was a member of
Wilson Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Trimble
is preceded in death by her husband, Marlon Trimble; one son, Monty
Trimble; five sisters, Ila Kay Davis, Christine Dunagan, Clatie Hurt,
Gloy Waites, and Mildred Jordan; and two brothers, Leck and Matthew Hurt.
She is survived by one son, Phil Trimble and his wife Susan of
Winchester; one daughter-in-law Lynn Dance Trimble; five grandchildren,
Jocelyn Johnson and her husband Daniel, Chandler Trimble, Hunter Trimble
and his wife Jamie, Ann Trimble-Loyd and her husband Jake, and Elizabeth
Trimble; and great-grandchildren, Presleigh, Woods and Peirson.
Visitation for Mrs. Trimble will be held on Sunday, August 20th, 2017 at
Kilgore Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00pm with the funeral to immediately
follow at 3:00pm with Bros. John Payne and Randy Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

8/20/17–Ann Ray Threet

Funeral services for Mrs. Ann Ray Threet, age 91, of Manchester, will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at 2 PM at Manchester Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Brown officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, August 19 from 4- 8 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Threet passed away on Thursday evening, August 17 at her home.
 
Mrs. Ann was born on August 8, 1926, in Bell Buckle to the late Burr Woods and Annie Zuma Shriver Beachboard. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Manchester, an outstanding homemaker and a wonderful mother and sweet mother-in-law, a true Mrs. June Cleaver. She was the wife of a very busy man for 60 years, the late Dr. Ewing J. Threet. Mrs. Ann was an avid golfer and the Reigning Ms. Bell Buckle of 1944.
 
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ms. Ann was preceded in death by her 5 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Ewing (Ruthe) Threet of Smyrna and James Herbert (Mindy) Threet, III of Manchester; one daughter, Dianne (Doug) Vaughn of Manchester; grandchildren, Troy (Angela) Threet, Jenny (Clay) Paul, Heather (Jason) Aston, Dr. Ewing J. Threet, II, Dr. Eleanor Threet, Scott (Stephanie) Vaughn, Andy Vaughn, Oliver Naugle, and Spencer Peterson; ten great grandchildren, and special friends, Connie Cargile, Peggy Darden, Sharon West, and Jennifer Goins.

Ora Alma Smith, age 89, passed away August 15, 2017, with her loving
family at her side. Ora Alma was born November 1, 1927 in Manchester, to
her parents, the late F.M. Pearson, Sr. and Lou Cash Pearson. Ora Alma
was a member of the Red Hill Church of Christ in Manchester. She was
preceded in death by her husband; R.L. Smith, a son; Larry Smith, two
sisters; Katherine Vandergriff and Zora Raines, three brothers; John W.
Pearson, F.M. Pearson, Jr., and Marion Pearson.
Ora Alma is survived by a daughter, Glenda S. Simmons and her husband
Richard of Manchester, TN, three grandchildren; Ryan Simmons and wife
Jill of Willard, MO, Shannon Charles of Nolensville, TN and Shawna
Streeter and husband Jason of Franklin, TN, four great-grandchildren;
Braden Streeter, Dylan Streeter, Carleigh Charles, and Leighton Simmons,
a sister; Margaret Long, and two brothers; Kenneth Pearson and Ellie
Pearson, and several friends.

8/17/17 — Loyd Duncan

Funeral services for Mr. Loyd Duncan, age 62, of Tullahoma, TN, will be
conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Coffee County
Funeral Chapel with Bro. Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in
Hathcock Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until
9:00 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the funeral home. Mr. Duncan
passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at St. Thomas Riverpark Hospital
in McMinnville, TN.

Loyd was born in Woodbury, TN, the son of the late John and Ruby Mae
Duncan. He was an inspector at Batesville Casket Company, where he
worked for over 40 years. He loved being outdoors and going to UT and
Titans games. He coached youth baseball for many years.

In addition to his parents, Loyd was also preceded in death by three
brothers, Sherman, Hubert and Lynn Duncan; two sisters, Shirley Erwin,
and Naomi Harpole, and one step grandchild, Caitlin. He is survived by
his loving wife, Shelia Duncan; one son, Scott (Mollie) Duncan; one step
daughter, Tara Alford; three brothers, Kenny (Jenny) Duncan, Chuck
(Kathy) Duncan and Boyd (Teresa) Duncan; three sisters, Barbara Neeley,
Sandra (Kerry) Myers and Thelma (Mark) Rogers; two grandchildren, Claire
and Charlotte Duncan; step grandchildren, Carigan, Caden, and Colton; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Santos Solis Soriano Jr — 8/13/2017

Mr. Santos Solis Soriano Jr passed this life on August 10, 2017 at
Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 67 years old.

Mr. Soriano was born to the late Santos Solis Soriano, Sr. and Fransisca
Villanueva Soriano on May 25, 1950 in Mexico.

A carpenter by trade he loved to make things with his hands. He also
enjoyed the game of soccer, both as a player and spectator.

He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Rodriguez Solis of Tullahoma. He left to
mourn his passing his children, sons Santos Solis Soriano, III and Osvaldo
Solis, both of Mexico. Surviving daughters include Rosalba Bouchard and her
husband Matthew of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Patricia Solis of Tullahoma,
Tennessee, Ariana Solis Villafuerte and her husband Cesar of Tullahoma,
Tennessee and Norma Solis of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Surviving grandchildren are Jessie and Theodore Amaro, Miguel, Jennifer,
Mandy and Samantha Gallegos, Brianna and Janet Villafuerte, Vivan Solis and
Cristian Solis Silva.

Also surviving Mr. Soriano are his siblings Gloria Nunez, Lucila Ortega and
Rosa, Leobordo and Ulices Solis. Siblings Merced and Adriana Solis preceded
him in death.

Visitation with family members will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday,
August 13, 2017 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. A funeral service will
follow at 3 p.m.

John David Bartlett — 8/12/2017

Graveside services for John David Bartlett, age 76, of Morrison, TN, will
be conducted at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Viola Cemetery
with burial following. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM
until 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Coffee County Funeral
Chapel. Mr. Bartlett passed away on August 8, 2017 at Lynchburg Nursing
Home in Lynchburg, TN.

Mr. Bartlett was born in Fayetteville, TN, the son of the late J.B. and
Virginia Groce Bartlett. He worked as a livestock dealer for Bryan
Livestock, enjoyed working cattle and loved watching westerns.

In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by one
sister, Mary Frances Bartlett. He is survived by his wife, Janice Ramsey
Bartlett; two sons, Scott and Matthew Bartlett; two sisters, Patricia
Stevenson and Zenita Castine; and five grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel,
Maggie, Michael, and Ethan.

8/10/17–Effie Mae Johnson

Effie Mae Johnson passed away August 8, 2017, in Murfreesboro, at the Alive Hospice Facility with her family at her bedside. Effie was born in Creve Coeue, IL to her parents, the late Gene Pittman and Doris M. Pittman. Effie was also preceded in death by a daughter, Effie Brant, and a sister, Linda Turner.
She is survived by her spouse, James Johnson of Beechgrove, TN, her mother Doris Lanlge of East Peora, IL and a child, Jeremiah Johnson, of Beechgrove, TN, a sister, Melinda Lange of East Peoria, a brother, Bud Pittman of Greve Coeur IL, and five grandchildren, Tahinda Brant of Beechgrove TN, Anna Brant of Manchester, TN, Kristen Johnson of Welsh LA, Dominic Johnson of Welsh, LA, and Avery Johnson of Welsh LA.

8/11/17–Elzie Jimmy Phipps

ELZIE JIMMY PHIPPS
(May 15, 1937 – August 8, 2017)

Elzie Jimmy Phipps passed away on August 8, 2017, at his home with his
family at his bedside. He was born in Manchester, to his parents, the
late Clarence Henry Phipps and Sadie Louise Jones Phipps. Elzie was
affiliated with the Original Church of Jesus Christ. He worked as a
carpenter before retirement. After retiring, he was an avid sports fan.
He loved the Coffee County RED RAIDERS, TN Vols, and TN Titans. Most of
all, he loved his family, children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren. He had a kind spirit and a loving heart. He will be
missed by all who knew and loved him. Elzie was preceded in death along
with his parents, Clarence and Sadie Phipps, a son, Christopher Lee
Phipps, two sisters; Shirley Ann Akers and Claire Louise Gipson, a
Son-In-Law; Richard Shelton, and a Granddaughter; Annie Denise Phipps.
Elzie is survived by his loving wife Khyva Lynn Akers Phipps of
Manchester, TN, four children; Cynthia S. Davis and husband Ray of
Lynchburg, Tn, Carolyn Phipps Simpson and husband Terry Wiser of
Beechgrove, TN, Carrie L. Winton and husband George of Manchester, TN,
and Jimmy D. Phipps and Lynn Atkinson of Hixson, TN, nine grandchildren;
Alisha S. Vaughn and husband Jason of Manchester, TN, Chad Shelton and
Lauri of Manchester, TN, Leah S. Cashion and Zach of Manchester, TN,
Tiffany N. Johnson and Nick of Manchester, TN, Tasha D. Lavergne and Ben
of Lynchburg, TN, Zachary S. Phipps and Brittany of Manchester, TN, and
