7/13/18 — Ray “Dean” Batey

Funeral services for Mr. Ray “Dean” Batey, age 58, of Manchester, will be conducted on July 13, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Additional funeral services will be held on July 14, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown, TN with burial to follow in Hunter Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on July 14, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. until time of service. Mr. Batey passed from this life on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Unity Medical Center.

Dean was born on January 20, 1960, to the late Billy and Wilma Batey. He was a lineman for Duck River Electric Company for many years and started as a lineman at the age of 18. He loved fishing, hunting, riding four-wheelers, darts and hanging out with his friends. Dean had a love for University of Tennessee football and Predators hockey. He was known as a loving husband and friend, and he opened his home and heart to many.

Survived by his loving wife, Cindee Lee Batey; step-son, Heith Auman; step-daughters, Caytee Cline, Ashlee Klumper; brothers, Billy “Punk” Batey, Joe Batey; sister, Joyce “Sissy” Cozart; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.

The family requests that you wear your orange and white in honor of Dean’s love for the University of Tennessee.

7/13/18 — Janet Denise Lowery Harmon

Funeral services for Mrs. Janet Denise Lowery Harmon, age 47, of Summitville, TN will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Summitville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the funeral home, and again on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Mrs. Harmon passed away suddenly on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester, TN.

Janet was born in Manchester, TN to Billy and JoEllen Lowery. As a child, Janet loved taking wagon rides. Later in life she enjoyed listening to music, going to concerts and aquariums, and going fishing. Janet was a loving wife and daughter.

Janet is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ross Harmon; paternal grandparents, Arch and Ruby Lowery. She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Darren Harmon; parents, Billy and JoEllen Lowery; maternal grandmother, Becky Harmon; cousins, Jamie (Sarina) Harmon and their son, Johnathon; one family friend, Paul Honeycutt; and multiple extended family members.

7/12/18 — Mary Scott Robertson

Robertson, Mary Scott, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Sunday,
July 8th, 2018 at Life Care Center at the age of 87. Mrs. Robertson was
born in Manchester to the late Oren and Vada Conley Scott. She was a
former employee of Tennessee Apparel and before that had worked at
Trader’s Bank. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robertson was preceded in
death by three sisters, Dorothy Harper, Kathleen Owens, and Sharon
Rackler; three brothers, Richard Scott, Coy Scott and Mack Scott; and one
grandson, Kevin Storey. She is survived by her husband, Doug Robertson of
Tullahoma; two sons, Scott Robertson (Regina) of Tullahoma and Phil
Robertson (Rita) of Tullahoma; one sister, Jean Alexander of North
Carolina; grandchildren, Chris Robertson, Matt Robertson, Shannan
Mallich, Amanda West, Andrew Scott, Leah Fly, Patty Bartlett and Tracey
Gilliland; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, Alyce, Kailey, Trenton,
Courtney, Aiden, Jackson, Carter, Braxton, Jaden, and Grace. Visitation
for Mrs. Robertson will be held on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018 at Kilgore
Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday,
July 12th, 2018 at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Chris
Seals and Donald Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Concord
Cemetery.

7/8/18 — Margarett A. Rush

Margarett A. Rush, of Manchester, passed this life on Friday, July 6, 2018
at her home, at the age of 83 years. Graveside Services will be held on
Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 1 PM at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Blountsville, Alabama.

A native of Blount County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Oza
Clifton and Catherine Warren Weaver. She attended Motlow Community College
and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in
Psychology and Sociology. She was a longtime resident of Manchester and
enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, working in her yard and
spending time with her family.

Mrs. Rush is survived by one son, Victor Douglas Rush; one daughter, Vivian
Gail Rush; brother, Clifton Warren Weaver; sister, Doris Jean Smith; four
grandchildren, Jesse Warren Phillips, Justin Michael Phillips, Samantha Kay
Rush and Zachary Thomas Rush and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Rush was able to stay at home with her daughter surrounded by her
family for the last seven months which was her desire and made her very
happy. A special thank you to Kendra Baker for all the laughter she
provided for Mrs. Rush and the best grilled cheese sandwich she ever ate.
Also
a thank you to Courtney Howland for her support during the last two weeks
and a special thank you to Hospice Compassus for their loving care.

7/11/18 — Larry W. Bevel

Larry W Bevel, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at
Tennova Harton Hospital, at the age of 71 years. Funeral Services are
scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral
Home with burial to follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 5

8 PM.

A native of Winchester, he was the son of the late William McKinley and
Ella Stewart Bevel. He work as a delivery man for Purity Dairy for many
years. Mr. Bevel loved to watch TV and his favorite show was Matlock. He
was also an avid University of Alabama football fan and enjoyed being with
his family. He loved to laugh and play pranks on all his friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary
Ella Bevel.

Mr. Bevel is survived by his fiancé, Bonnie Buckner of Tullahoma; son,
Thomas Bevel of Tullahoma, daughters, Cynthia and LeeEllen Bevel, both of
Tullahoma; and brother, Terry Bevel and his wife, Ginger of Decatur, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his honor
to the Tennessee Kidney Foundation, 37 Peabody St, #206, Nashville, TN
37210.

7/9/18 — James Faron Smith

JAMES FARON SMITH, age 61, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Smith was born on August 22, 1956 to the late Pyatt Henry Smith and Ruby Edith Honey Smith in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Smith was employed for many years as a carpenter and plumber in the construction field. He was raised in the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Smith had many hobbies, he loved fishing, grilling and cooking, playing cards and loved playing along with Jeopardy on T.V. he loved to travel and at one time worked for a car dealership in sales and would dress up as a clown, a job he dearly loved. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and caring brother, and uncle that was always around for a fun time.

He is survived by his daughters; Rebecca Nicholas and husband, Shane of Nashville, Tara Smith Spurlock of Ohio. Son, James Michael Smith of Tullahoma. Sister, Karon Currier of Estill Springs, Tenn., Special cousin “sister” Sharon Prosser of Estill Springs. 8-grandchildren and 1-great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be held from 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 9, until 2:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services are scheduled for 2:00 immediately following the visitation with Bro. Buck Frazier, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

7/10/18 — Joann Gregory Johnson

Mrs. Joann Gregory Johnson, 61, passed away Friday July 6,
2018 at her home in Hillsboro, Tennessee. She was born in Nashville,
Tennessee on August 10, 1956 to James Gregory and Lillie Mae Forsythe
Gregory who preceded her in death along with her brother, Charlie Gregory.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Manchester and had
been a book keeper and manager for Exxon Corporation and was currently a
homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Larry A. Johnson; brother, Thomas Gregory,
Nashville, Tennessee; sisters, Dorothy (Mike) Johns, Nashville and Carla
(Bubba) Glenn, Nashville; loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Central Funeral Home
Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Amspaugh officiating with burial to follow in
the Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday at

7/9/18 — Helen Duke Kidd

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Duke Kidd, age 75, of Manchester, will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 9, 2018, from 10:00 AM until service time at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Kidd passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Helen was born on October 18, 1942, to the late Willie and Ruth Duke. She was a secretary for Arnold Engineering Development Complex and met her husband while working there. She was also employed by Tullahoma School Systems for over fifteen years. Helen was a devoted Christian at Cedar Lane Church of Christ, loved being a mother, and loved to travel the world. Helen was known as a kind-hearted, sweet Southern lady.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kidd; brother, Donald Duke. Survived by her sons, David Kidd (Brooks Kidd), Michael Kidd (Roxana Kidd); brother, Winfred Duke; grandchildren, Mia Kidd, Annabel Kidd, Zoe Kidd, Avery Kidd.

6/8/18 — MARGOLINE SPEARS McMAHAN HOLMES

Margoline “Margo” McMahan Holmes, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2018. She was born in Burkesville KY on April 20, 1926 to parents, Dewey & Pearl Spears, and moved to Coffee County TN in 1947 after marrying her first husband, Lloyd McMahan Jr. who passed away on April 2, 1998 after 50 years of marriage. She later married a dear family friend, Stephen D. Holmes, who passed away on September 11, 2011. She was a member of Red Hill Church of Christ and a longtime member of Southside Church of Christ in Manchester

She is survived by a daughter, Brada Conklin, & a son, Barry McMahan & his wife, Rhonda, who all reside in Murfreesboro TN; grandsons Jerry (Julie) Eaton of Hendersonville TN & Jeff (Angie) Eaton of Burlington, Iowa; & 4 great grandchildren, Sara, Drew, Emily & Connor. She is also survived by sisters, Jewel Vandagriff & Barbara (Ruell) Melton; brothers, Keith (Wanda) Spears & J.W. Spears; her first husband’s siblings, Frances Dodson, Linda (Bubba) Dowd, Vance (Barbara) McMahan, Barbara (Don) Alexander, many nieces and nephews, & her second husband’s son, Stephen (Juanita) Holmes, Jr. of Shady Grove, TN. In addition to her parents & her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Bryan McMahan, son-in-law, Michael Conklin, brother Aldon (Kate) Spears & sister Mary Ruth Humphrey.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, July 8th, at 2:30 pm at Red Hill Church of Christ with Ralph Hart officiating. A private burial was held at Shady Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Miriam Hernandez

Miriam Hernandez, of Winchester, passed this life on Thursday July 5, 2018
at her residence at the age of 78 years. No services are scheduled.

A native of Holguin, Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Ramona
Pijuan Garces. She loved to go shopping and collected glassware. She also
enjoyed cooking and being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Pablo
Hernandez and daughter Barbara Duque.

She is survived by son, Raymond Vigil of Miami, FL; daughters, Rebecca
Booth and her husband, Matthew of Winchester and Miriam Baldrich and her
husband, Raul of Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Mireya Garces Tejeda of Tampa,
FL; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
