Laurice Anne Virtue Griffin

Laurice Anne Virtue Griffin, age 91, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Life
Care Center of Tullahoma.

Mrs. Griffin was born on September 12, 1926 to Tressa and Lawrence Virtue
in Seattle, WA. She was raised by her grandmother on Whidbey Island,
WA. Laurice
was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Boeing during WW II. Later, she met a Navy
Sailor, Gerald Paul Griffin and they married in 1946. They moved to
Waukegan, IL and had two children.

Laurice went to night school to become a librarian. She worked at the high
school library, and then later, ran the church library in Texas where they
retired. Laurice had many talents and interests including 4-H, knitting,
crocheting, sewing, spinning yarn, lapidary stone jewelry and porcelain
dolls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56
years, Gerald Paul Griffin and her sister, Janet Ketchum (Rod). She is
survived by daughter, Nancy Wolf (Bill); son, Bruce Griffin (Sheri); two
granddaughters, Joanne Case (Ray) and Paula Lester (Roy) and four great
grandchildren, Kristopher and Hannah Lendley, Dominick Carter and Katherine
Lester.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Fredericksburg, Texas.

7/21/18 — Bowling Emmett Haberlin

Bowling Emmett Haberlin (Beatle) 77 of Manchester, TN. Born December 26,1940. A native of Shelbyville Tennessee. Mr Bowling passed from this life July 7th 2018. He was the son of the late, Robert Edward Lee Bowling and Versie Luella Snell. He worked many years in construction for C.J. Bryant Construction (Pipeline) as well as volunteer fireman and postal carrier. Former resident of Lascassas TN. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by late loving wife- Betty Mai Smotherman and stepmother Ruby(called Mama Jo), Sister in law Virginia Bowling, Step Daughter Bess M. Wiseman Coolen. Survivors include wife- Bessie M. Davis Bowling, Daughter- Lenetta A Dachtler(Mark) of Clarksville Tn, Tammy E.R. Utter(Jerry Lee) of Lascassas Tn, Son- Robert T. Anthony Bowling of Beech Grove Tn, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Brother Raymond Bowling of Shelbyville Tennessee, Sister- Frances Williams of Wartrace,Tennessee, Stepchildren Anthony Wiseman(Deneene) of Florida Bridgit Shaw of Indiana, Steven Wiseman (Torrie) of Tennessee,Cheryl Lane(Joel) of Florida, D.J. Siebers of Tennessee, David Wiseman( Robin) of Alabama, Crystal Evitt(Lee) of Tennessee, 39 step grandchildren, 78 step great grandchildren, 5 step great great grands. Special friends and neighbors Henry and Lisa Stevens and Joyce(Buddy) Davis and Marcelo Aguilar.

Emmett enjoyed many things. He enjoyed camping boating (Normandy and Lakewood park). Some of his favorite foods were Mt. Dew, salsa,and sausage biscuits. Favorits TV programs were Nascar, racing, wrestling, Walker, Marty Robbins, American Pickers, John Wayne, He also enjoyed playing computer games, loved singing Karaoke( My woman, my woman my wife and Just beyond the moon) and making his own music CDs. Made many kind, loving friends at the places where he sang. Most of all he loved his family dearly. He talked about his days on the job and enjoyed making people laugh, loved riding mower and all tools and machinery. He loved to stay busy. Now he is resting in the arms of the Lord . A Special thanks to Chasity Wiseman- Atala and Crystal Evitt for providing loving care. The Celebration of Life will be held July 21st 2018 Officiating service will be done by Pastor Virgil Alford. 7/14/18–Willodean (Dean) Jernigan

Mrs. Willodean (Dean) Jernigan, age 82 of Manchester, TN
was called home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2018. Born in Manchester,
TN to the late Kenneth and Ramie Gilliam Ramsey. She was also preceded in
death by her sister (Jacklyn Hundley) and brothers (A.J. and Everette
Ramsey. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Wiley (Clark) Jernigan;
daughter, LaDonna Barnes and husband Wayne, and son, Jeff Jernigan and wife
Lisa; grandsons Joshua and Sean Barnes and Chad and Kyle Jernigan; great
grandchildren include Kaylee and Kamden Barnes, and Briley and Braylon
Jernigan. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Manchester. She
formerly worked for the State of Tennessee for the District Attorney’s
office. She loved her family, traveling and reading. Services and
visitation will be conducted at Central Funeral Home on Saturday, July 14,
2018; from 11:00 am to time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Brenton Cox will
be officiating. Burial will then follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

7/14/18 — James O. Shelton

Funeral services for Mr. James O. Shelton, age 87 of Manchester, will be
conducted on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Coffee County Funeral
Chapel with Brother Marvin Davenport and Brother John Daniel officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive
friends on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Coffee
County Funeral Chapel. Mr. Shelton passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018
at Tennova-Harton hospital.

Mr. Shelton was born on October 31, 1930 to the late Waitstal Watson and
Annie Dera Shelton and was the baby of their ten children. He was of the
Baptist faith and a lifelong member of Forest Mill Baptist Church. Farming
was his job, but also his passion. You could also find him almost every
morning socializing with the morning crew at Hardee’s. Mr. Shelton was a
loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sue
Shelton; brothers, Wayne Shelton, Tommie Hall Shelton; sisters, Katie Pearl
Welch, Maggie Ruth Shelton, Rena Shores, Lucille Novella; brothers, Jesse
Paul Shelton, Raymond Kendall Shelton of Manchester, William “Billy”
Shelton. Survived by his sons, Michael Todd Shelton (Jenny) of Tullahoma,
James Scott Shelton of Manchester; daughter, Debra Sue Puryear of
Tullahoma; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

7/16/18 — Lisa Dianne Couch

Funeral services for Mrs. Lisa Dianne Couch, age 47, of Manchester will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 16, 2018, at Manchester Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Carmack officiating. Burial will follow in Manchester City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the funeral home. Mrs. Couch passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at her residence in Manchester.

Lisa was born in Manchester, TN to Ronald and Rita Smitty, Sr. She was a homemaker and loved to read, make crafts, and cook. Lisa was a loving mother, daughter, and sister.

Lisa is survived by her parents, Ronald and Rita Smitty, Sr.; husband, Rodney Couch; one son, Cayden Couch; two daughters, Megan Elkins and Sydney Couch; one brother, Ronald (Penny) Smitty, Jr.; two grandchildren, Bristol and Kalix Evans; paternal grandmother, Mary Smitty; one niece, Emma Smitty; two nephews, Micah and Luke Smitty; two special friends, Greg Nelson and Connie Lovins; a host of other family.

Benny Douglas Lusk

Mr. Benny Douglas Lusk, age 75, of Manchester, TN, passed away on July 11, 2018, at Unity Medical Center. No services are planned.

Benny was born in Coffee County, TN, the son of the late Malcom and Beulah Oliver Lusk. He was a boilermaker at AEDC, where he retired, and served his country in the National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, taking his family camping, loved VOLS football and more than anything, loved his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Benny was also preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Lusk; brother-in-law, Mack Hulvey; sister-in-law, Lois Lusk; and one grandchild, Dylan West. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy Hulvey Lusk; two sons, Tim (Stefanie) Lusk and Jason (Lynn) Lusk; two daughters, Kristy (Kevin Keele) West and Amy Sloan; two brothers, Marion Lusk and Keithly (Patsy) Lusk; eight grandchildren, Jessica West, Jordan Lusk, Morgan Stevens, Andrew Lusk, Alaina Lusk, Kassidy Jernigan, John David West, and Tanner Sloan; four great grandchildren, Riley West, Jackson West, Brayden Harden, and Barrett Lusk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby Joe Guy

Bobby Joe Guy of Whitwell passed this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the
Willows of Winchester at the age of 75 years. No services are scheduled.

A native of Whitwell, he was the son of the late Lloy and Doria Moore Guy.
He was an auto mechanic and always enjoyed working on cars and doing
carpentry work. He loved people and always enjoyed talking and making new
friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters,
Caroline, Kathleen and Rachel and daughter-in-law, Delores Guy.

Mr. Guy is survived by two sons, Bobby Joe Guy II of Whitwell of Whitwell
and Nickolas Heath Guy of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Tabatha Miller and her
husband, Doug of Estill Springs; brothers, J C Guy and his wife, Lucy of
Whitwell and William Ray Guy and his wife, Kathy of Minden, LA; six
grandchildren, Eric Guy, Cecelia Tolar, Robert Rollins Jr, Jackalyn
Rollins, Bretney Smartt and Nicola Smith and six great grandchildren, Sasha
George, Tamra Tolar, Destiny Henry, Emily Guy, Rhylee Guy and Gavin Smartt.

Michael L. Warren

Michael L. Warren, age 58, of Beechgrove, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at
the home of his sister, Debbie Warren, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Boyd Warren; a brother,
Ricky (Slim) Adcock and three sisters, July Baldauff, Pat Cartwright and
Bonnie Dodson.

He is survived by three sisters, Debbie Warren, Danita Thompson and her
husband, Jimmy and Nancy Freeman and her husband, Glenn and many nieces and
nephews.

Per Michael’s request, he will be cremated with no memorial services.

7/14/18 — Herschel Leon Messick

Funeral services for Mr. Herschel Leon Messick, age 86, of Manchester, TN will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Sidney Parham and Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Gnat Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the funeral home. Mr. Messick passed from this world on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Leon was born in Beechgrove, TN to the late James Harvey and Sylvia Pearl Duke Messick. He was a factory worker at Batesville Casket Company before retiring. He was a member of Living Springs Church where he also pastored for several years. Leon loved to work in his garden, work in his scrap business, minister for over 20 years, and watch wrestling and sitting in his rocking chair on his front porch. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Leon is also preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. and Glenn Messick; one sister, Sylvia Messick; one grandson, Jonathan Messick; and one great-granddaughter, Cherokee Sissom. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Trail Messick; two sons, Melvin (Naomi) Messick of Morrison and David (Brenda) Messick of Murfreesboro; one daughter, Brenda (Ezra) Sissom of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

7/12/18 — James Thomas Bryson

Mr. James Thomas Bryson, 88, departed this life, Sunday,
July
8, 2018 at his home. He was born in Cannon County, Tennessee on July 10,
1929 to Clarence and Flaklon Alexander Bryson. He was preceded in death by
his parents along with his stepfather, Palmer Davenport; sister, Billie
Krutsinger; brother-in-law, “K” Krutsinger; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
A.E.
Bryson and Mr. and Mrs. B.R. Alexander; nephew, Andy Stone.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Freda Snow Bryson; daughter,
Patricia Underwood (John) Allen; grandchildren, Jake, Chris and Brooke
Underwood, Keenan Allen.

James and his wife moved to Manchester in 1956. He was employed as an
electrician at AEDC and retired after 25 years of service. He was a member
of the Red Hill Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.

Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM. The funeral service
will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Central Funeral Home Chapel with
Ralph Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial
