9/16/18–J.C. Laxson

Funeral services for Mr. J.C. Laxson, age 94, of Manchester, will be conducted on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Manchester Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Lusk and Rachel Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Summitville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 11:00 until service time. Mr. Laxson passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

J.C. was born on June 26, 1924 to the late J.C. Laxson Sr. and Mabel Laxson. He retired from Sain Construction after 20 years as a superintendent. He also was a US Navy Veteran serving our country in World War II. Mr. Laxson was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Morrison where he completed several ministry projects using his carpentry skills. He enjoyed farming and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Vera Laxson; one son, Andy Laxson; four brothers, Bill Laxson, Dan Laxson, John Laxson, and Gwen “Red” Laxson; one sister, Jessie Bell Kelley; one granddaughter, Rachel Kennedy. He is survived by his children, Ann Pelham (Mike), Elizabeth Faye Laxson Prater (Gary), Amos Laxson (Sheila), Connie Heatherly (Rusty); one brother, Charles Josh Laxson; 10 grandchildren, Lynn Myers (Mark), Jason Laxson (Tiffany), Becky Shelton (Glenn), Matthew Pelham (Danielle), David Kennedy (Lindsay), Charity Locke (Jason), Bethany Patterson (Scott), Hannah Osborne (Brandon), Catherine Heatherly, and Ryan Heatherly,; 21 great grandchildren, Sam Myers, Ben Myers, Lily Laxson, Andi Grace Laxson, Madison Hartwig, Megan Hartwig, Will Freeze, Kristen Shelton, Ali Shelton, Emily Shelton, Edith Pelham, Mabel Pelham, Louella Pelham, Ashlyn Grace Kennedy, Isaac Kennedy, Dustin Guy, Abby Guy, Colten Locke, and Caleigh Locke.

9/15/18–Rowan Alexander Harvey

Harvey, Rowan Alexander, infant son of Corbin and Katy Harvey,
passed this life on Tuesday, September 11th, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare
Harton. In addition to his parents, Rowan is survived by his big brother
and sister, Maddox and Natalie; grandparents, Jane and Benny Swift and
Debbie and Wayne Rosetti; great-grandparents, Jenny Day, Aaron and Libby
Clark, and Helen and Wayne Rosetti Sr; aunt, Missy Cunningham; two
uncles, Nick and Jared Rosetti; and his cousins, Aiden, Allie and Hunter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at Kilgore
Funeral Home from 12:00-2:00pm with the funeral service to immediately
follow at 2:00pm with Bro. Jesse Lack. Burial will follow at Bethany

9/19/18 — Cynthia Annette Trail-Miles

Cynthia “Cyndi” Annette Trail-Miles of Manchester, passed this life on
Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Unity Medical Center in Manchester at the
age of 51. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2PM, Wednesday, September 19,
2018 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rose Hill
Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 PM on
Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

A native of Manchester, Cyndi was the daughter of the late Marion C. Trail
and Doris Elaine Taylor Trail of Manchester. She enjoyed spending time
with her children and her beloved Chihuahua, Peanut. She was always a hard
worker and enjoyed cooking and outdoor activities.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her significant
other, Bobby Miles and niece Gina Byers.

Cyndi is survived by her mother, Doris Elaine Taylor Trail of Manchester;
daughters, Shonna Bolin and her husband, Tyler of Winchester and Ashley
Miles of Belvidere; brothers, Ronnie Trail and his wife, Theresa of Estill
Springs, Ricky Trail of Tullahoma and Randall Trail and his wife, Deana of
Winchester; several nieces and nephews and a grandchild on the way.

9/15/18–Verna Ruth Winton

Mrs. Verna Ruth Winton, 82, passed away, Wednesday,
September 12, 2018 at her home. She was born in Pelham, Tennessee on May
15, 1936 to Dillon Hawk and Ruby Rieder Hawk who preceded her in death.

She had worked as a nurses aide at the Grundy County Health Department and
was a Clerk in Charge at the Pelham Post Office. She was a member of the
Pelham Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, of 63 years J.L. Winton; daughters, Teresa
(Tim) Cunningham, Pelham and Gaye (John) Kelley, Estill Springs;
grandchildren, Courtney (Jonathan) Pragel, John Cunningham, Blake (Teela)
Kelley and Drew Kelley; great-granddaughter, Camden Reese Pragel; several
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Central Funeral Home
Chapel with her son-in-law, John Kelley officiating with burial to follow

9/14/18 — Joshua C. Deaton

Joshua C Deaton of Moore County, passed this life on Tuesday, September 11,
2018 at his residence at the age of 30. Funeral services will be conducted
Friday, September 14, 2018 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with
burial to follow at the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation with the
family will be Thursday, from 6 – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

A native of Tullahoma, he was the son of the late Richard Deaton and Robbie
Gunne Lowe of Moore County. He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist
Church and enjoyed riding four wheelers, watching movies and hanging out
with his friends and family.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Roxie
Deaton, Margaret Martin, Robert Gunne and Gerald Lowe Sr.

Joshua is survived by his parents, Robbie and Gerald Lowe of Moore County;
grandparents, Melvin Deaton of Moore County and Sharon Lowe of Tullahoma;
brother, Jeremy Angel and his husband, John of New York, NY; sisters,
Ashley McInturff and her husband, Daniel of Rocky Top and Rachel Chessor
and her husband, Ross of Tullahoma; nieces, Hannah and Marlee Chessor and
Elle McInturff and nephew, Maddux McInturff.

Larry D. Steele, Sr.

Larry D Steele Sr. of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, September 11,
2018 at his residence at the age of 69. A Celebration of Life Service will
be scheduled at a later time.

A native of New York, he was the son of the late Mick and Mildred Sherwood
Steele. He had worked for many years for Worth as the Manager of the Wood
Bat Division. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church
of Lynchburg. He enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debra
Steele.

Mr. Steele is survived by son, Larry Steele Jr and his wife, Alma of Ormond
Beach, FL; daughter, Lisa Sonnenberg of Tullahoma; brothers, Gary Steele
and his wife, Carol of Zephyrhills, FL, Bill Steele and his wife, Dawn of
Dolgeville, NY and Rick Steele and his wife, Debbie of St. Johnsonville,
NY; sister, Donna Randall and her husband, Harold of Dolgeville, NY;
sister-in-laws, Patricia Stewart and her husband, Victor of Lynchburg and
Christine Floyd and her husband, Rick of Estill Springs and four
grandchildren, C J Carter, Jack Sonnenberg, Ariel Steele and Madison Steele.

9/14/18–LISA ANN JONES MCCOY

LISA ANN JONES MCCOY, age 45, of Manchester, Tenn., formerly of Huntland, Tenn., departed this life suddenly on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at her residence. Lisa was born in Sewanee, Tenn., on September 19, 1972, to the late Gordon Jones and Janelle Isbell Jones. Lisa is a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Huntland. She attended Huntland High School and was a member of the 1990 graduating class. She was a HHS Cheerleader all four years of High School. She was a Certified Pharmacy Technician and was previously employed at Fred’s Pharmacy in Decherd, then Wal-Mart in Manchester and was presently employed at Marcrom’s in Manchester. She loved working out at the Rec. Center in Manchester, she also enjoyed exercise classes and zumba classes. Lisa made friends wherever she was. She was a loving and devoted daughter to her parents when they were both ill, as well as, a loving and caring mother, sister, aunt and friend. She always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Elijah James McCoy of Manchester, sister, Vickie Kunz and husband, John of Lansing, Mich. brother, Samuel Jones and wife, Tiffany of Huntland, Tenn., Niece, Catharine Seal of Grand Rapids, Mich., nephews; Alexander Seal of Lansing, Mich., Nathan Jones and Jason Jones of Huntland, many Aunts, Uncles and friends.

Visitation for Lisa will be held from 3:00-9:00 P.M. Thursday evening, September 13, in the Chapel of Huntland Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Friday evening, September 14, at Huntland Baptist Church, with Dr. Bob Hill and Bro. Chris King, officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester where Lisa will be laid to rest beside her loving parents.

9/10/18–Sandra Kay Teems

Sandra Kay Teems, age 76, of Manchester, TN passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Manchester Healthcare. Sandra was born on August 18, 1942 to the late Kenneth and Wilma Motsinger. She previously worked at Coffee County Bank as a teller. She loved playing Bingo, doing crafts, and most of all spending time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William Teems; one son, Scott W. Teems (Susan); one daughter, Rebecca Kriz (Joseph); three grandchildren, Kyle Kriz, Brittney Kriz, and Megan Kriz.

9/10/18 — Orville “Buddy” Jones

Funeral services for Mr. Orville “Buddy” Jones, age 73 of Manchester will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Manchester Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Sherrill, Bro. Danny Anderson, and Bro. Eric Elwell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warren County, TN. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 9th, and again on Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Mr. Jones entered into rest on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at NHC in McMinnville, TN.

Buddy was born in Coffee County, TN to the late James and Kate Jones. He worked 38 years for Carrier before retiring in 2005 and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Buddy loved going to tractor pulls, coon hunting, and doing benefit auctions. He loved farming, never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face.

In addition to his parents, Buddy is also preceded in death by one brother, Dillard Jones; and two sisters, Arlie Tate and Pearlene Stotts. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Jones; one daughter, Melissa (Eric) Elwell; one brother, Frank (Tammy) Jones; four sisters, Artie Reed, Peggy Grosch, Margaret (Clyde) Lewis, and Betty (Orville) McCullough; and two grandchildren, Austin (Jordan) Elwell and Jodi Elwell.

9/14/18 — Sandra Arends

Sandra Arends of Manchester, passed this life on Friday, September 7, 2018
at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro at the age of 83. Funeral services will be
conducted Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10 AM with burial to follow at the
Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 9
AM until the service time.

A native of Hamden, CT, Mrs. Arends was the daughter of the late Ben and
Eva Lifshatz Elkins. She attended the Canvas Community Church of Manchester
and enjoyed cooking and reading her Bible and Christian books.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58
years, Vernon Helmer Arends and son, Mark Perkis.

Mrs. Arends is survived by son, Bruce Arends and his wife, Jessica of
Shelbyville; daughters, Diana Arends and fiancé Eugene of Hampton, Iowa,
Leta Dohlman and husband, Tom of Ackley, Iowa, Robin Way of Spokane,
Washington and Lynn Koontz of Pennsylvania and 6 grandchildren and 5 great
grandchildren.
