David Lee Murphy

Mr. David Lee Murphy, age 80, of Manchester, TN passed from this life on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

David was born in Fairmont, WV on September 3, 1939, the son of the late Mary Keefover.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran and worked for AEDC for over 35 years.  David loved rebuilding old cars, going golfing, and taking his son fishing.  He was a member of the JC’s and he coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for many years.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his mother, David is also preceded in death by one son, David W. Murphy; one brother, Paul Edward Murphy.  He is survived by his loving wife for 60 years, Bonna Murphy; daughter, Susan Murphy; daughter-in-law, Diane Murphy; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Murphy, Samantha Fichten (Christopher), and Kyle Murphy.

Sammie Lee Long

Graveside services for Mr. Sammie Lee Long, age 76, of Beechgrove, TN will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Gnat Hill Cemetery. Mr. Long passed suddenly from this life on Friday, April 3, 2020, at his residence.

Sammie was born on February 26, 1944, in Sewanee, TN to the late William Felix and Bertha Long. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army, and he taught Building Trades in Franklin County before going to Rutherford County to continue teaching until his retirement. Sammie enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, and beekeeping. He was an active member of the Coffee County Fair Board and a member of the Skills USA Committee for over 20 years. Sammie loved his family more than anything, and he was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Sammie is also preceded in death by one brother, William Bertram Long. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Long; one son, Kevin Long; one daughter, Mitzi Smith; five grandchildren, Chris Kochans, Samantha Long, Sydney Long, Chris Smith, and Reagan Smith.

Francis E. Waterman

Francis E. Waterman, 76, of Manchester, Tennessee entered into eternal rest at his home.  Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he served his country in the United States Army for 6 years. He also served the state of Tennessee as a sergeant for the Department of Corrections.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Nancy Waterman and his 5 children: Nancy Cooper (Tim), Steven Waterman (Tammy), Vicki Waterman (Roy), Kristie Turner (Brian), and Matthew Waterman (Lisa).  Also surviving are his 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Viola Herbert (James) and Doris Copp.

He is preceded in death by his parents John T. Waterman and Lula Burton, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Francis loved wood working, spending time with his family, and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Francis will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

4/6/20– Clarece Naomi Bray

Clarece Naomi Bray, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday, April 2nd, 2020 at Manchester Health Care Center at the age of 98. Clarece was born in Nashville to the late Oscar George and Sarah Adelia Pinkerton Derseweh. She graduated from Greenbriar High School and then Tennessee Tech University. She went on to receive her MA from both Peabody College and Vanderbilt University and then pursued graduate studies at Appalachian State College in Boone, North Carolina. Clarece taught school in Nashville’s Metro School System for thirty-two years, one year in Orlinda, TN, and then one year at Tullahoma High School. She enjoyed her teaching years very much. Clarece belonged to Faith Lutheran Church in Tullahoma and held offices in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and in several professional organizations. She was an avid reader and liked to play golf and tennis in her younger years. She and her husband enjoyed shopping for antiques and refinishing them. They traveled to many places in the United States and abroad. Clarece loved life and her smile was her signature. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlo V. Bray; step-daughters, Olive Bray, Blanch Karker, and Ida Jeffers. Clarece is survived by one step-daughter, Susan Bray Schweigard and her husband Kenneth of Central Bridge, New York; and one step-son, Jim Bray and his wife Jalyn of Delhi, New York. A private burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, Tennessee. There will be a register book outside of the main entrance to the funeral home on Monday, April 6th, 2020 from 9:00am-4:00pm for those who wish to come by and sign in. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarece Bray Scholarship Fund for Educators, c/o Faith Lutheran Church, 101 Bragg Circle, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.

4/6/20– Mary Nell Ferrell Lynn

raveside services for Mrs. Mary Nell Ferrell Lynn, age 82, will be conducted for immediate family at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2020, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Pastor Ben Eschenfelder officiating. A memorial service will be set at a later date. Mrs. Lynn passed from this life from an extended illness at Bailey Manor on Friday, April 3, 2020.

Mary Nell was born in Cannon County, on January 9, 1938, to the late Perry and Carlie Watson Ferrell. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mary Nell is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Lynn; brothers, Willie, Lloyd, and LD Ferrell; sisters, Elsie Dean Ferrell, Jennie Hartley, and Catherine Pirtle. She is survived by her daughters, Lorie Brown (Jerry) of Hillsboro and Lisa Mirza (Sam) of Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Gunn (Brandon), Aaron Brown (Courtney), Sophia Mirza (Alex McCann); great-grandchildren, Maggie and Cooper Gunn and a great-granddaughter to arrive in July; sisters, Annette Green, Helen Ledbetter, Linda Hillard, and Betty Comstock; brother, Ralph Ferrell.

4/2/20– Michael Lynn Luttrell

Michael Lynn Luttrell, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday, April 2nd, 2020 at his home at the age of 63. Mr. Luttrell was born in Tullahoma to James E. and Sylvia Bobo Luttrell. He served his country proudly in the United States Marnie Corp. and went on work as a Magnetic Particle Inspector with U.T.C. in Tullahoma. Mr. Luttrell was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Luttrell, and his aunt, Charlotte Hammers. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Luttrell; two daughters, Tracy Hunt and Amy Hayes; grandchildren, Darrick and Katie Hunt, and Nicholas and Colton Hayes; his father, James Luttrell and his wife Janet; one brother, Keith Luttrell and his wife Amanda; one step brother, Kelly Lewis and his wife Sonda; one step-sister, Carol Haas; uncle, Daryl Hammers; cousins, Lisa Hammers and Darla Hise and her husband Johnny; and special sister-in-law, Sandy Zaborowski and her husband James. No services are planned at this time. Carol Ann Carden

Carol Ann Carden of Mulberry passed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma at the age of 84. Carol was born in Shelbyville to the late Robert Lee and Dorothy Argo Holland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carden is preceded in death by her husband, James Render Carden; and one brother, Robert L. Holland, Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Caren Gabriel; one son Chip Carden and his wife Kelly; six grandchildren, Sarah Gabriel Dolezal and her husband Brian, Caroline Gabriel Mathews and her husband Brandon, Reed Wilson Gabriel, Harrison Russell Carden and his wife Jackie, Healy Ann Carden, and Hayden Lewis Carden; five great-grandchildren, Sumner James Dolezal, Holland Elizabeth Dolezal, Carden Luke Mathews, Emery Grace Mathews, and Brayden Hardin; and one great-granddaughter due to arrive this month, Rylan Marie Carden. A private family service will take place at Farrar Hill Cemetery with Pastor Ricky Wade officiating. 3/30/20– Richard Michael “Mike” Stone

Mr. Richard Michael “Mike” Stone, age 69, of Manchester, TN, passed away at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN on Monday, March 30, 2020. Private services will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mike was born in Manchester, TN, the son of the late William Richard and Mary Clark Armstrong Stone. He worked at Batesville Casket Company for 27 years and Kirchhoff Automotive for 20 years. Mike enjoyed listening to music, working in the yard, and reading fantasy and science fiction books.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Debby “Dee” Bailey Stone; daughter, Carissa (James) Stone-Wheeler; grandchild, Xavier Wheeler; sister, Pamela Ann Stone Bryan; brother-in-law, Dwayne (Brenda) Bailey; nieces and nephews, Pamela Renee’ Bryan (Justin) Temple, Vanessa Nicole Bryan (Will) Guerrette, William Christopher Alan (Sabrina) Bryan, Clint (Katie) Bailey, and Cody (Nikki) Bailey; and nine great nieces and nephews.

3/28/20– David Ray Schultz

Mr. David Ray Schultz, age 63, of Manchester, passed from this life surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at his residence.

David was born on September 16, 1956, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the son of Julius and Jean Schultz. He worked for Cassens Transport for over 40 years before his retirement. David was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time on his farm, but above all he loved being with his family. He enjoyed taking family trips and always put their needs above his own. David was proud of his family, and he was a loving husband, son, father, and grandfather.

David is preceded in death by his father, Julius Schultz; one daughter, Lynn Schultz. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Maureen Schultz; mother, Jean Schultz; daughter, Dawn Thammarath (Bay); one sister, Debbie Waltzen (Dennis); seven grandchildren, Madelyn Schultz, Mckenzie Givens, Lyndon Thammarath, Lynlie Thammarath, Desmond Thammarath, Darian Thammarath, and Briley Sain; three sisters-in-law, Patty Kocher (Wes), Karen Wartman (Rod), and Bonnie Ramirez (John); three brothers-in-law, Jim Norton, Mickey Norton (Linda), and Dan Norton (Pat); many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in David’s name to a fund they have set up for their grandchildren at People’s Bank, 1203 Hillsboro Blvd, Manchester, TN 37355.

A date and time regarding David’s graveside services will be announced in the following days to come.

Gary Alan Frost

Frost, Gary Alan, of Tullahoma, passed this life unexpectedly of a heart attack, on Sunday, March 29th, 2020 at his home at the age of 57. Mr. Frost was born in Lapeer, Michigan to the late David W. Frost and Barbara Talbot Frost who survives. He served his country in the United States Air Force and went on to work as an I.T. Professional with DKW. Mr. Frost was also a member of the American Legion Post 43. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Chandra Frost. Mr. Frost in survived by his loving wife, Kaye Frost; three sons, Cody Frost, Matthew Webb, and Noah Frost; his mother, Barbara Frost; two sisters, Sharon and Diana; and four grandchildren. No services are currently planned at this time.
