James F. Fuqua

James F. Fuqua, Sr. of Tullahoma, TN passed away peacefully in Birmingham,
AL. on January 24, 2020at the age of 100. Graveside services will be held
on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11 AM at the family plot in Oakwood
Cemetery.

 James was born on 9/15/1919 in Springfield, TN. to the late Frank and
Elizabeth Fuqua. He was the husband of the late Mary Ruth Simpkins Fuqua
for 52 years. Their son is James F. Fuqua, Jr. of Mountain Brook, Alabama.

Survivors in addition to their son are daughter-in-law Sena Steenbergen
Fuqua and granddaughters, Sena Meredith Sherrill (John) and three Great
Grandchildren, James Madden Sherrill, John Fuqua Sherrill and Vivian Ruth
Sherrill, all of Mountain Brook, Alabama and Bradley Elizabeth Petersen
(Stephen) and Great Grandson, Huck Bryant Petersen of Jupiter, Florida.

After serving in the Army Air Forces in WWII, and graduating from Middle
Tennessee State University, James had a long, illustrious career with the
USAF in both civilian and consulting roles. Over the last 35 years,
originally with Mary Ruth, they owned Mary Ruth Fuqua Antiques in
Lynchburg, TN.

James was very active in his community, serving on the Coffee County
Election Commission, the Tullahoma City Schools Board of Education and was
the Chairman of the Administrative Board of First United Methodist Church
in Tullahoma for 9 years. He was a founding member of Lakewood Golf and
Country Club.

Christopher Albert Pierce, Jr.

Manchester, Tennessee- Mr. Christopher Albert Pierce, Jr., age 91, of
Manchester, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Pierce was born in Brookhaven, NY, to his late parents, Christopher
Albert Pierce, Sr., and Irene Daub Pierce. He was a retired veteran of the
United States Navy, where he served his country in the Korean War. Mr.
Pierce was the owner and operator of Pierce Arrow Fence Company here in
Manchester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son,
Chester Pierce and sisters, Irene Turner and Dorothy Kneski.

Mr. Pierce is survived by a son, James (Juanita) Pierce; daughters, Susan
(Claudio) Rivera, Marjorie Jensen, and Christine Fisher; sister, Gladys
Harris; grandchildren, Ann, Eugene, Erica, Jose, William, Emily, Julie,
Ronnie, Debbie, Bobby, and Chris; several great grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, from 11:00AM
until 1:00PM at Central Funeral Home in Manchester. A memorial service will
follow visitation at 1:00PM in the chapel of Central Funeral Home. Burial
will follow at a later date at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Gene Frank Walter

Gene Frank Walter, age 54 of Manchester, passed away on Thursday, August
13, 2020, at Alive Hospice in Nashville after an extended illness. A
celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church in Manchester on
Monday, August 17 at 5 PM. Bro. Brenton Cox will be officiating the service.

Gene was born on August 30, 1965, to the late Eugene Elmer Walter and Linda
Gibson Walter in Anderson, IN. He lived most of his life in Florida, but he
did move to Wisconsin for a time before moving to Manchester. Gene was the
co-owner of Servpro in Manchester and a member of the First Baptist Church in
Manchester. He loved fishing, camping, and being outdoors.

In addition to his mother, Gene is survived by his children, Shane and
Isaac Walter and Tiffany Simmons and her husband, Dwayne, all of
Manchester; three grandchildren, Kaleb, Dustin, and Danny Simmons; three
sisters, Rose Chandler, Karen Thomas, and Chrissy Tesche; nieces, nephews,
and a host of friends.

Shelby Imogene Miller

Mrs. Shelby Imogene Miller, 77, passed away
Saturday August 15, 2020 at the Specialty Select Hospital in Nashville,
Tennessee.  She was born in Metcalfe County, Kentucky on September 19, 1942
to Rollin and Florence England who preceded her in death along with her
sons, Jeffery and Charles Stanley; brother, Don England.

She is survived by her daughters, Crystal Kuohn and Debbie Mathis; brother,
Otis England; sisters, Helen Stafford and Judy Damron; 12 grandchildren;
24, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Central Funeral Home chapel
with burial to follow in the Forest Mill Cemetery.  Visitation: 5:00 PM –

Wilford “Bud” Cates

Wilford “Bud” Cates, age 81, of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 3:00PM at Lynchburg Cemetery.

A native of Moore County, he was born on January 26, 1939 at home in Lynchburg, TN to Willie B. Cates and Aline Newton Cates. Bud retires from Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg. He enjoyed conversating, fishing, family, the Smokey Mountains, and so much more. He was a TN Vols fan. His family was his world and they will remember him for his big heart and willingness to always lend a hand.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. Cates and Aline Newton Cates, his brother JD Cates, and his sister Joan Cates Rogers, all of Lynchburg.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Ann Cates of Lynchburg, TN, sister Louise Carpenter Young of Fayetteville, TN, daughter Vickie Passwaters (Bryan) of Lynchburg, TN, grandchildren Jamie (Kristy) Cates “whom they raised,” of Tullahoma, TN, Derrick (Rachel) Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN, Diana (Tamra) Gentry of Winchester, TN, and many many more grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Edward R. Ortiz

Edward R. Ortiz of Winchester passed this life on Wednesday, August 12,
2020 at his residence at the age of 78.  No services are scheduled.

Mr. Ortiz a native of Reedley, California, was the son of the late
Natividad and Isabell Rivera Ortiz.  He was a member of the Broadview
Missionary Baptist Church in Winchester. He enjoyed building “hot rods”,
bowling, attending NASCAR and INDY races, boating and working in his yard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert
Ortiz.

He is survived by wife, Yvonne Ortiz of Winchester; sons, Donald Michael
Ortiz of Ohio and Richard Ronald Ortiz of California; daughter, Sharon Lynn
Luna (Robert Paul) of Anaheim, CA; brother, James Ortiz of California;
eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Elizabeth Ann Olson

Elizabeth Ann Olson of Tullahoma passed this life on Tuesday, August 11,
2020 at Vanderbilt Hospital at the age of 88.  Graveside Services are
scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11 AM at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Olson, a native of Chattanooga, was the daughter of the late Owen and
Ruth Carden Robinson.  She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic
Church. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and socializing with
her friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, John
Walter Olson; son, Victor Emmanuel Olson and daughter, Elizabeth Olson.

She is survived by sons, John Walter Olson Jr. of Franklin, TN and James
Eric Olson (Marianne) of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Rosanna Olson of
Tullahoma; brother, Emmett Robinson (Joann) of Chattanooga; five
grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many friends.

Gilbert Ronald Jones

Mr. Gilbert Ronald Jones, 80, passed away Monday,
August 10, 2020, at the Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro,
Tennessee. He was born in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Ector Dewitt
and Mable Woods Jones. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Donald
Jones. Mr. Jones, an internationally recognized Aeronautical Engineer,
worked for the Boeing Company in Huntsville, Alabama, as part of the Apollo
Program contributing to the successful launch and missions of the Saturn V
rocket and Apollo 11, which sent man to the moon. At the conclusion of the
Apollo Program, he worked for Arnold Engineering and Development Center
(AEDC) where he enjoyed a 28- year career leading programs and initiatives
such as the ballistic missile team and was a contributor to Reagan’s Star
Wars Strategic Defense Initiative. In addition, he trained future research
and development aerospace engineers and space program specialists at the
University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI). He was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Sanford, North Carolina. A loving son, husband,
father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his
loving wife of 54 years Carolyn York Jones and 3 adult children: Dr. Rhonda
(Darryl) Syler of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Gwendolyn Joysen of Albuquerque,
New Mexico; and Gregory Ronald Jones of Manchester, Tennessee. Also
surviving Mr. Jones are 4 grandchildren, Marie (Bailey) Syler Stacks and
Rachel (Colin) Syler both of Little Rock, Arkansas; Gwyneth Elizabeth Jones
of Columbia, Tennessee; and Katlyn Jones of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; 2
great grandchildren, Henry Jackson Stacks and Theodore James Stacks; and 2
brothers, J.C. (Flo) Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Doug Jones of
Mount Plymouth, Florida. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday,
August 14 at the Marshall Memorial Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in
Albertville, Alabama, with a private family viewing at the Central Funeral
Home in Manchester, Tennessee, prior.

Anthony L. Sutton

Anthony L. Sutton of Tullahoma passed this life on Wednesday, August 12,
2020 at his residence at the age of 73.  Funeral Services are scheduled for
Friday, August 14, 2020 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with
burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on
12 Noon until the service time.

Anthony was a native of Michigan. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing
darts.  He was past president of the local dart league.  In addition, he
loved being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Sutton of Tullahoma; sons, Bryan
Sutton of Michigan and Joshua Quick of Tullahoma; daughter, Marie Quick of
Tullahoma and four grandchildren.

Kenneth Melvin Barnes

Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Melvin Barnes, age 77, of Manchester will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 13, 2020, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Centertown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the funeral home. Mr. Barnes passed from this life following an extended illness on Monday, August 10, 2020, at his residence in Manchester.

Kenneth was born in Davidson County, TN on June 25, 1943, the son of the late Oscar and Margie Mullican Barnes. He was married to Mary Rose Amos Barnes on November 27, 1969. Kenneth enjoyed gardening, riding back roads in his truck, and fixing car. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Barnes; one brother, Wayne Barnes; two sisters, Colleen Barnes and Evelyn Barnes; one grandson, Waylon Dodd. He is survived by his son, Tim McCullough (Larissa); two daughters, Darlene Reecer (Robert) and Charlene Dodd (Roger); one sister, Eva Wiseman; four grandchildren, Kenny, Breonna, Paige, and Kelley; four great-grandchildren, Tori, Erica, Tessa, and Austin; two nieces, Geraline Powers (Kurt) and Sharon Boothe (Randy).
