Tink Driver wanted to give back to his community by restoring Old Stone Fort Golf Course to its former beauty and offering a recreational opportunity to the area. The course was closed by the state in 2011, so it took some time to get it back in shape. On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 the course will open again.
The employees at Old Stone Fort Golf Course have worked hard and are excited to offer a family oriented place to be enjoyed by the public at competitive prices.
Manchester Country Club was originally opened in the 1960’s. The state later purchased the land and ran it as a public course for many years.
Driver purchased the 140 acres in 2016. The land was originally owned by Pete Jackson and Judy Driver’s family and has now come full circle.
Old Stone Fort Golf Course will be a great place for golfers of all abilities to enjoy a round of golf. It is one of the most scenic golf courses in the state of Tennessee with beaver, otter and many kinds of birds along the Duck River.
Driver’s goal is to make Old Stone Fort Golf Course the finest 9-hole golf course in the state.

H&R Block Student of the Week Kinsley Hiett

Congratulations to Student of the Week -Kinsley Hiett!!! Kinsley, the daughter of Terri Capotocky (sap-a-tocky), is a ninth grader at the Coffee County Raider Academy. Kinsley was chosen to be honored because “she defended a fellow student from a bully”, says school librarian Michelle Vaughn. Kinsley said that she “was bullied in elementary school. So I told my teacher in private about this, so as not to make a scene. Things can change even if one person says something”. Kinsley likes to paint in her spare time. She plans to attend Belmont University and one day become a child psychologist or child psychiatrist. Rosalyn Partin, owner of the Manchester H&R Block, has been inspired to recognize great kids in our community all through hockey season. What does hockey season have to do with our local students? Well, H&R Block gives each Student of the Week a set of Nashville Predators Hockey tickets, a commemorative plaque, as well as a special letter of recognition.
Pictured with Kinsley is Rosalyn Partin of H & R Block.

In-State Tuition Rates for Students here Illegally Blocked

Rep. Judd Matheny

A Tennessee House panel has narrowly voted down a push to offer in-state tuition rates to public college students whose parents brought them to the country illegally, drawing tears from some students in the room.
The House Education Administration & Planning Committee voted 7-6 against the bill Tuesday.
Republican bill sponsor Rep. Mark White of Memphis said the students didn’t choose to enter the country at a young age, many have been in Tennessee almost their whole lives, and they’re victimized by federal inaction.
Rep. Judd Matheny of Tullahoma and more than a dozen lawmakers led a news conference Monday contending that tuition breaks shouldn’t go to students here illegally or under temporary status through an order by former President Barack Obama.
Twenty other states allow the in-state tuition.
