Investigation Continues into Home Invasion in Shelbyville

The Shelbyville Police Department continues its investigation into the aggravated burglary offense that occurred in the early morning hours of November 23, 2017 on Shapard Drive.
The investigation thus far has led to the arrest of two minors and two adults. Camari Cannon and Thomas Vinson, both 18 years of age, were arrested on Wednesday without incident. The identity of the minors is intentionally being undisclosed.
The Shelbyville Police Department still needs your assistance locating Julian Harris and Centa Muse.

The investigation has revealed that Julian Harris, who has an active order of protection versus him and an occupant of the targeted residence, conspired with others to commit the offense. Harris, Muse, and Cannon provided material support to the co-defendants by encouraging and assisting them in the commission of the offense.

H&R Block Student of the Week


Congratulations to Student of the Week -Skye Andrews!!! Skye, the daughter of Billy and Lori Andrews of Hillsboro, is a fifth grader at Hillsboro Elementary School. Skye is a point guard for her school basketball team, the Hillsboro Tigers. When Skye is not at school, she likes to draw and spend time with her twin, 4th grade brothers. Skye would like to be a veterinarian one day. She says that her Dad has 18 snakes and she feels comfortable with all animals, her favorite being the owl. Rosalyn Partin, owner of the Manchester H&R Block, has been inspired to recognize great kids in our community all through hockey season. What does hockey season have to do with our local students? Well, H&R Block gives each Student of the Week a set of Nashville Predators Hockey tickets, a commemorative plaque, as well as a special letter of recognition.

Barn Burns to the Ground in Manchester

On Tuesday night, Coffee County Deputy Joshua McKinney responded to a structure on Country Club Dr. in Manchester. When the deputy arrived, a barn was on fire.

The building had just been renovated by Edger “Tink” Driver. McKinney said he spoke to Driver and he stated that he had at least $500,000 invested in the barn. He also stated that there was no power to the building and there were numerous items being stored in the barn.
North Coffee Volunteer Fire Dept., Manchester Fire and Rescue and other department assisted at the scene and the barn was a total loss.

Man with Knife Arrested for Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest

On Nov. 26 Manchester Police were called to a residence on Hills Chapel Road for a disturbance with a weapon.
Warrants by Manchester Officer Jamie Norris allege that when officers arrived they found Timothy Dewayne Sanders, 41, of Madison Street, Manchester standing a few feet from a victim with a knife in his hand. The warrants allege that police told Sanders to drop the knife, but he refused. In fear for the victim’s safety officers tazed Sanders but he still would not drop the knife, so they tazed him a second time.
According to the warrants, the victim had two small cuts on the left side of her neck.
Sanders was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $15,000. He will appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court at a later date.

Garage Fire in North Coffee

The North Coffee County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Boynton Valley Road on Nov. 27 around 1:30 p.m. and found a structure fire. The fire department battled a blaze that started when property owner Raymond Farless was burning a brush pile and it got out of hand.
According to a Coffee County Sheriff’s deputy report, when the officers arrived they found a garage fully engulfed with flames. They also saw that the fire had burned a large portion of the yard along with a bush hog, lawnmower and a 1997 Jeep. The fire had also melted the vinyl siding on the end and back of the building. The fire department arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze, but the garage was a total loss.
Farless told deputies that he and his wife tried to fight the fire with buckets of water. When the fire reached the garage, he called 911.

Historic Tullahoma Home Named to National Register of Historic Places

Tennessee historic preservation officials say a 100-year-old house has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Tennessee Historical Commission announced the designation for the Wilson-Crouch House in Tullahoma on Tuesday.
The house is located in a residential neighborhood and was built in 1917 for John Van Wilson and Nellie Wood Nelson.
John Van Wilson was a Tullahoma businessman who operated a general store. The house was sold to Heloise Hickerson and Hubert Adair Crouch in 1924.
Crouch managed the Tullahoma Ice and Coal Company. The Crouch family kept the home until about 2003.
The 1.5-story brick house was made in the Craftsman style of architecture.
The National Register of Historic Places is the official national list of cultural resources worthy of preservation.

Shelbyville Police Searching for Two Suspects

Police in Shelbyville are asking for help tracking down a pair of suspects in an armed home invasion case from Thanksgiving.
Surveillance video released by Shelbyville police shows several people breaking down a door at a home during the early morning hours of November 23.
Police have since identified two of the suspects in the case.

Camari Davon Cannon and Julian Harris are now wanted for aggravated burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of violent felony.
Shelbyville police warn the public that both suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cannon and Harris are asked to contact Shelbyville Police at 931-684-5811.

13 More Mentors Needed

Coffee County needs thirteen more mentors to reach their goal of 84 for the Tennessee Promise program. TnAchieves mentors will invest 10-15 hours annually helping 5-10 high school seniors.
In fact, TnAchieves mentors say they spend less than one hour per month serving as a resource to our county’s scholars.
From 2008-2014, tnAchieves supported more than 10,000 students into a community or technical college with more than $15.5M privately raised exclusively for last-dollar student scholarships.

Open House at the Coffee County Sheriff’s Dept. is Saturday

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting its annual open house on Saturday December 2, 2017 from 9am until noon at the county jail at 76 County Jail Lane in Manchester.
Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves and his staff will be providing public tours and refreshments at the facility. This will be the 3rd year for the open house at the complex so the sheriff and his staff would love to see everyone.
They will be accepting donations to the sheriff’s Christmas charity fund such as unwrapped toys, non-perishable food, hygiene products and monetary donations; this is not required to attend. Sheriff department employees will be helping Santa as they distribute items to those in need later in the month of December.
