Low Speed Pursuit Leads to Two Arrests in Grundy County

Two men who led law enforcement officers, including deputies with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, on a low-speed chase are now behind bars.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler McClure, 24, and Tyler Moore, 23, led a pursuit that began in Warren County.

The pursuit then went through Beersheba Springs before ending in Hubbards Cove after the driver tried to push a patrol vehicle off the roadway.
Deputies searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana.
A juvenile was also detained and taken back to Warren County.
Both McClure and Moore are being held in the Grundy County Jail.

Batch Mix Asphalt Proposed in Cannon County

A Bedford County company is asking for state permission to operate a plant in Cannon County.
Construction has started for a batch mix asphalt plant at the intersection of John Bragg Highway and Bradyville Road.
The builder Hawkins Asphalt Paving, LLC of Wartrace has reached the point in the construction process to request state approval of an air contaminant permit. The proposed operation would consist of a batch mixer, asphalt cement storage, crushed aggregate storage piles, and reclaimed asphalt pavement for making hot mix asphalt. The notice from the Tennessee Division of Air Pollution Control lists fabric filter bags would be used for pollution control in their public notice. Air contaminants would be emitted by this source.

Missing Man in Bedford County

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for a missing man. Jeremy Dale Anderson, 37 year-old, white male was last seen at his residence on May 23, 2018.
Anderson is 6’1″ tall, approximately 180 pounds, has brown hair, blue eyes, and facial hair. He had worn glasses in the past but is not believed to have them with him. Anderson has tattoos on both arms, his chest, and his back. His location is currently unknown.

Teen Pregnancy Down in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Health has been observing National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month in communities across the state this month. National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month is designed to raise awareness about the impacts of teen pregnancy and ways to prevent it.
Consistent with national trends, Tennessee’s teen pregnancy rates per 1,000 females declined from 49 in 2013 to 32.5 in 2016. The most recent national data available is from 2013, when the teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. was 43 per 1,000 females.
The Tennessee Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program works to prevent unplanned adolescent pregnancies through a comprehensive, community-wide, collaborative effort that promotes abstinence, self-respect, constructive life options and responsible decision making about sexuality, healthy relationships and the future.

Fake Fire Inspector Arrested

Charges have been filed against a Franklin County man accused of impersonating a licensed fire inspector across a multi-county area, police say.
Wesley Mark Shaw, 58, of Decherd allegedly targeted primarily ethnic restaurants operated by people who don’t English well, Shelbyville police and fire personnel said.
Bedford County Jail records show Shaw is charged with six counts of impersonation of a licensed professional and one count of criminal simulation.
Shaw claimed he could order the restaurants to close unless they passed “fire safety inspections” he conducted at a cost of several hundred dollars each, police said. One Shelbyville restaurant paid for three inspections, according to police.
Allegedly, Shaw identified himself as operations manager of “Tennessee Fire Specialty Systems” and claimed to have a Tennessee inspection license. Investigators say that license is not valid, and Shaw has no enforcement authority.
Shaw claimed to have been sent by insurance companies or fire marshals, officials were told. Following the “inspections,” Shaw placed tags on fire extinguishers and other prevention systems bearing the fake firm’s name and an invalid Tennessee state license number, according to police.
Restaurant personnel told police the suspect arrived as late as 11 p.m., outside normal business hours.
Shaw is accused of extorting money from minority business owners and charging exorbitant fees for the false inspections.
Reports of similar demands in Marshall, Lincoln and Franklin counties have been reported, and police have discovered the suspect has also hit restaurants in Huntsville, Alabama. (Shelbyville Times-Gazette)

Rescue Crews Save Man from Water He had Fallen In

Rescue crews from several agencies were called out early Monday morning to help rescue a man that had fallen into a waterway near the Grundy and Marion County line.
Apparently, the unidentified man fell into the water and was holding onto a tree when emergency crews arrived.
Volunteer firefighters from Coalmont and Altamont were first to arrive on the scene just after midnight.
The team of rescuers worked throughout the early morning hours to pull the man to safety.

Man with No Clothes On Leads to his Arrest

A strange situation occurred last week at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Winchester. A man who allegedly had no clothes on and was in the parking lot of the hospital.
Robert Seth Parker, 42 of Decherd, was arrested by Winchester Police for disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and public intoxication in connection with the incident.
According to reports, dispatch personnel had received several calls about a man running around nude at the hospital, kicking cars and pushing someone down while running into building on the property. The police report also indicates that the man allegedly admitted to law enforcement that he had been taking meth and needed help.

Gas Prices should Drop Soon

Motorists should soon catch a break from rising gas prices.
Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group said the drop in crude should amount to a discount of at least 10 cents at the pump.
Gas prices in Tennessee increased 6 cents during the past week. The state average on Memorial Day was $2.73 – the most expensive for the holiday since 2014, when the average price was $3.45 per gallon.
Tennessee motorists are paying 62 cents per gallon more than a year ago. It now costs $41 to fill an average-size tank of gasoline – an increase of nearly $10.
U.S. oil prices traded at 3.5-year highs of nearly $73 per barrel. On Friday, crude prices plunged below $68 – the lowest daily closing price in three weeks.
The low price per gallon as Tuesday afternoon in Manchester was $2.65 and in Tullahoma, $2.68.
