A 33-year old worker at the Bridgestone plant in Morrison was killed in a tragic work accident Monday morning.

The Southern Standard reports that Beau Christopher Lowe, age 33, was killed when a bolt broke on a steel mold the weighed between 1,400 and 2,000 pounds. The mold apparently fell on Mr. Lowe.

According to the report, the family has been notified.

Fire crews from Manchester Fire and Rescue and Hillsoro Volunteer Fire Department responded to LKQ Auto Parts on Monday to extinguish multiple vehicles on fire. 

According to Manchester Fire Department Chief George Chambers, fire units arrived to find multiple vehicles involved in fire that LKQ personnel had moved away from other vehicles to prevent spreading. 

Manchester firefighters were able to extinguish all fires. All vehicles in question were salvaged vehicles.  

“Great assitance provided on scene by LKQ personnel and Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department crews,” said Chambers.

Organizers are planning a march in Tullahoma Saturday, June 13, as part of the Black Lives Matter movement that has swept the nation since the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers nearly two weeks ago.

The Tullahoma march will go from the CD Stamps building on South Jackson to City Hall and back. The march is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. 

JCPenney announced this week that it will begin the closure of 154 of its store locations beginning next week.
JCPenney said closure could take 10-16 weeks co finalize closures. This is the first phase of the company “shrinking its footprint” after filing for bankruptcy protection last month.

As part of bankruptcy reorganization, JCPenney intends to permanently close one third of its 846 stores over the next two year period.

The Penney’s store located at the Three Star Mall in McMinnville will be one of six Tennessee locations to close in this round of closures. Other Tennessee stores to close will be in Cleveland, Columbia, Dyersburg, Kingsport and Maryville.

The City of Manchester has announced that the annual 4th of July Fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 4th, beginning at 9 p.m.. However this year there will not be the regular party that is normally held at Rotary Park. However, citizens can view the fireworks from any viewing location of their choice around town with music synchronized on their radio at 107.9 FM (Thunder Radio).

“We are excited to be able to host the celebration with Thunder Radio, although it may look and sound different than in years past,” said Mayor Lonnie Norman. “We’ve decided to move forward and find a way for people to safely celebrate their Fourth of July.”

The City of Manchester Recreation Department and Thunder Radio (107.9 FM),  will be producing an 20-minute aerial array of fireworks synchronized to music beginning at 9 P.M. from the Recreation Complex grounds.

“We are looking forward to hosting the modified celebration with Thunder Radio so residents can enjoy the fireworks from their vehicles,” added Norman.

The best way to listen to Thunder Radio for the synchronized music will be at 107.9 FM.

“These types are events and community service projects are what Thunder Radio is all about,” said Josh Peterson, owner of Thunder Radio. “The regular celebration is one of the best events of the year in Manchester; we wanted to do our best to help make this Independence Day as good as possible for our citizens given the current circumstances.”
