Coffee Middle School HOSTS White County – 6 p.m. (GIRLS ONLY)
Titans drop Bears, move to 6-2 at halfway point
At the season’s halfway point, the Titans don’t look half bad.
In a game you heard live on Thunder Radio On Sunday, the Titans put forth an inspiring effort on defense and just enough offense to beat the Chicago Bears 24-17 before 13,871 fans at Nissan Stadium.
The Titans are 6-2 at the midway point of the season, and alone atop the AFC South. A year ago, the Titans were 4-4 at the midway point of the season.
Next up is an AFC South showdown against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night at Nissan Stadium.
Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed 10 of 21 for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Titans running back Derrick Henry ran for 68 yards on 21 carries.
Titans receiver A.J. Brown caught four passes for 101 yards and a score.
Tennessee Department of Labor warns of scam
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) warns unemployment claimants about an email scam that continues to make its way across the country.
The historic increase in unemployment claims due to the COVID-19 pandemic led to targeted fraudulent activity in many states across the nation.
The email circulating from coast to coast pinpoints individual claimants, trying to convince them there is an issue with their claim.
The email utilizes a seemingly authentic, but generic email address and has the subject line “Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Notification” It warns claimants online access to their account has been restricted because of suspicious activity. It then prompts the claimant to click a link to submit personal information to remedy the issue.
TDLWD has not received notification of any claimants in the state receiving this fraudulent email.
An example of a fraudulent email sent to unemployment claimants across the nation.
A legitimate email from TDLWD will have the Department’s name on it and it will state it is an email from Jobs4TN. If TDLWD requests documentation, claimants will submit those documents through a portal branded with Jobs4TN.
If a claimant receives an email from a generic unemployment address, they should not respond and delete it immediately.
CHS to serve free pizza to veterans Wednesday
Students at Coffee County Central High School will be distributing free
“take & bake” pizzas to veterans on Veterans Day, November 11, from 11:30 AM
to 2 PM.
The event is sponsored by the school’s FCCLA (Family Career and Community
Leaders of America) Club.
Under the leadership of Becki Louden and Angela Neal, FCCLA Advisors and
Culinary Arts teachers, high school Culinary Arts students will be involved
with preparing and boxing the pizzas. Due to health concerns, a table will
be set up outside the front entrance to the high school. Veterans are asked
to park in the circle and pick up their pizza and drink from the table.
Baking directions will be on the pizza box; available drinks include canned
sodas and bottled tea or water.
Culinary students will joyfully prepare the veterans’ food. Culinary III
student Ethan Nunley said, “they did & do a lot for us: we should do
something for them because they put their life on the lines to keep us
safe.” Culinary III student David O’Connor added, “it brings joy to us to
help others that do not get enough recognition; when we help them, it makes
me feel happy.”
To fund this event, they applied for a grant from the Nashville Area
Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. FCCLA also has fundraisers
throughout the year to be able to purchase food and other items needed for
their community service projects, such as complimentary cookies for First
Responders; and cupcakes to give out at the Veterans Day Parade.
Between November 9th and 20th many of the school’s culinary students will be
selling Rada Cutlery and That’s My Pan items to help pay for the ingredients
and drinks. According to Becki Louden, the students love preparing food to
show their appreciation for those who serve in our community. and invite
veterans to come pick up their free pizza and drinks. Students will prepare
80 pizzas: if they run out before all veterans are served, tickets will be
issued to get a pizza the next Thursday, November 19th.
Coffee County Central High School FCCLA members, advisors and culinary
advisory board members want to thank veterans for their service.

TSSAA releases proposed region realignment
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association released its proposed region realignment overnight Wednesday, Nov. 4.
If the proposal is accepted and approved next week, Coffee County Central will be in completely new regions and districts for almost every sport – including football, where Coffee County will get away from most of the powerhouse Murfreesboro schools.
In football, Coffee County would be Region 3-6A with Cookeville High School, Lebanon High School, Shelbyville Central High School and Warren County High School. With only 4 region games, Coffee County will need to fill its schedule with six non-region opponents. Cookeville and Warren County are leftover from the region Coffee County competed in this year.
Meanwhile, in basketball, baseball and softball, Coffee County will be in a small four-team district with Franklin County, Shelbyville Central and Warren County in what will be District 6-4A. District 6 will be opposite of District 5 in Region 3 – meaning the region championship will against teams like Bradley Central, Cleveland, McMinn County, Oolteway, Rhea County, The Howard School and Walker Valley.
This takes Coffee County out of the same district as Tullahoma, but also gets Coffee County out of yearly trips to Lawrenceburg and Columbia for baseball, softball and basketball
In boys and girls soccer, Coffee County is District 6-AAA with Franklin County, Shelbyville and Warren County. Coffee County will be in District 6-AAA for Volleyball with Franklin County, Lincoln County, Shelbyville and Warren County.
If approved, these regions and districts will be good for 2021-2023, beginning with the fall sports season.
CMS picks up sweep of Cannon County Thursday

Coffee Middle School made the trip down Highway 53 Thursday and left with a sweep of Cannon County.
The Lady Raiders jumped out to a quick 21-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, taking a 21 point performance from Olivia Vinson and spanking Cannon County 56-2.
Seven different Lady Raiders were able to score on the night. Vinson scored 12 of her 21 in the first half, Natalie Barnes finished with 12, Channah Gannon 10, Ava McIntosh 5, Addi Sartain 3, Peyton Graham 4 and Kaylee Mason added a point.
The win is just the latest in a dominant start for the CMS ladies, moving them to 3-0 on the season while outscoring opponents by a combined 175-19.
Meanwhile, the CMS Raiders outscored the Lions 13-9 in the fourth quarter to break a 22-22 tie and leave with a 35-31 win.
Red Raider eighth grader Brennan Young finished with a game high 17 points, but perhaps none were more important than the 9 he scored in the fourth quarter. Young was steady at the charity stripe down the stretch, going 5-for-5 at the line in the fourth quarter. He was 6-for-7 on free-throws for the game.
Cole Pippenger added 12 and Brady Wright dropped a pair of 3-pointers in the first half to finish with six points.
The Raiders are now 2-1 on the season.
Both the Raiders and Lady Raiders are scheduled to return home on Monday, Nov. 9 to host White County in CTC conference games. The girls are set to tip-off at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow. Both games will be broadcast live on Thunder Radio as part of the Mid Tenn Turf Hometown Sports Series.
