Margaret Ann Corvin
Margaret Ann Corvin of Tullahoma passed this life on Sunday, February 21,
2021 at her residence at the age of 69. Funeral services are scheduled on
Saturday, February 27 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial
to follow at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM
until the service time.
A native of Alto, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Howard and
Rosie Mearse Taylor. She enjoyed watching old western shows on TV and
taking walks. She loved being with her family and making people laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Billy
Corvin and son, Peewee Taylor.
Mrs. Corvin is survived by sons, Bobby Corvin of Tullahoma and Billy
Corvin; daughter, Ann Dahmer (fiancé’, DJ Harrell) of Tullahoma; brothers,
Carl and Jerry Tayler, both of Tullahoma; sisters, Annie Lou Painter (JC
Painter Jr) of Tullahoma and Debbie Taylor of Fayetteville; eight
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mary Lou Gentry
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lou Gentry, age 84 years, of Manchester,
will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in the
Manchester Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in the Fredonia
cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 AM on Wednesday until
time of the service. Mrs. Gentry passed away on Saturday, February 20 at
McArthur Manor in Manchester after an extended illness.
Mrs. Gentry was born on August 3, 1936, to the late Robert and Virginia
Thompson Reece in Ainsworth, Iowa. She was a hairdresser for many years
before she and her family moved to Tennessee. After moving to Tennessee,
she became a member of the Manchester Garden Club, and the MTDA (Middle TN
Decorative Artist Association). Mrs. Gentry loved gardening, painting, and
sewing.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry is preceded in death by her loving
husband, Ralph O. Gentry; brother, Kenny Reece; two sisters, Nancy Harriman
and Pat Roland; son-in-law, David Spencer. She is survived by her children,
Robb Gentry and his wife, Carla, Kathy McCormick and her husband, Randy,
and Jeanne Spencer; grandchildren, Amie, Todd, Katie, Kim, Patti, Tina,
Olivia, and Camie; thirteen great grandchildren; and brother, Thom Reece;
several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Four CHS wrestlers to the State Tournament this week
Four Central High School wrestlers will be vying for state championships this week in the TSSAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament in Chattanooga.
For the boys, Jacob Barlow and Gavin Prater will be hitting the mat. Meanwhile, Lady Raiders Mary Wolfrum and MaryAnn Walker will try to earn a top spot.
The Lady Raiders will wrestle Thursday, with the boys to follow on Friday.

Raiders, Lady Raiders host District semi-finals Wednesday (ticket info here)
The Central High School Raiders and Lady Raiders will each host the District 8-AAA semi-finals Wednesday night at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.
The Red Raiders finished the regular season as the no. 2 seed and earned a first round bye. They will now play Lincoln County at 6 p.m. Wednesday after the Falcons beat Shelbyville in the quarterfinals. The winner will advance to the championship on Friday. The loser will play a third place game Friday to determine seeding for the Region 4-AAA tournament.
Meanwhile, the Lady Raiders (no. 3 State AP Poll) will bring their 25-1 record to the floor against Columbia, who upset Lincoln County on Tuesday. Tip for the girls game is set for 8:30 p.m. at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium. The winner will advance to the championship on Friday. The loser will play a third place game on Friday to determine seeding for the Region 4-AAA tournament.

Ticket information
Tickets are on sale to the general public but are expected to sell out. You must purchase tickets online – there will be no tickets at the door. If you want to attend both games, you need to purchase a ticket for each game. The gym will be cleared between games.
Donald “Duck” Roberts
Donald “Duck” Roberts, of Fayetteville, passed this life on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 65. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Leslie and Elizabeth Batey Roberts. He enjoyed outdoor hobbies such as gardening and fishing, but he enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.
In addition to his parents, Duck was preceded in death by son, Nickolas Jay Roberts; brothers, James Leslie Roberts Jr, David Lee Roberts, Howard Roberts, Harold Roberts; sisters, Elsie Elk Thunder, Laura Mae McNeal, Ann Seat.
He is survived his loving wife of 27 years, Stephanie Roberts; sisters, Ruby (Carl) Perry and Mary Sue (Donnie) Kennedy; sons, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Roberts and David (Connie) Roberts; stepson, Travis (Rachel) Locke; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Eugene) Brown; eight grandchildren, Trey Locke, Preston Locke, Conner Locke, Joshua Hobbs, Nichols Roberts, Dalton Roberts, Jeffrey Roberts, Jessica Roberts; four great-grandchildren, Xaine George, Jaydon Roberts, Kanen Roberts, Casen Roberts.

Addison Scott Bond
Addison Scott Bond of Tullahoma passed this life on Saturday, February 20,
2021 at the age of 34. Funeral services are scheduled on Thursday, February
25 at 11 AM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with burial to follow at
Whitworth Cemetery in Christiana. The family will receive friends on
Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 5 – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.
A native of Murfreesboro, he was the son of Keven Bond and Judith Morton
Burklew. Addison was a member of the Life Change Church in Tullahoma and
was a member of the Tullahoma Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed being outdoors,
hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, swimming and boating. He also was an
avid UT and Tampa Bay football fan and enjoyed traveling and spending time
with his family. Addison was an EMT and had been a Volunteer Fireman. He
enjoyed working in the healthcare field.
In addition to his parents, Keven Bond (Donna) of Summerfield, FL and
Judith Burklew (Tony) of Murfreesboro, he is survived by wife, Meredith
Bond of Tullahoma; daughter, Olivia Grace Bond; grandfather, James Morton
of Murfreesboro; brother, Alex Bond (Gretchen) of Melbourne, FL; sister,
Lea Tatham of Nashville; in-laws, RD and Kay Glasgow of Estill Springs and
brothers-in-law, Ronnie Glasgow of Unionville and Troy Utterback (Tara) of
Tullahoma.
Mr. Bond was preceded in death by grandparents, Leroy and Dorothy Bond and
Sylvia Morton and sister, Amy Tatham.
Judge Craig Johnson announces plans to retire
After serving 23 years as a judge in Coffee County, Circuit Court Judge Craig Johnson on Tuesday announced that he plans to retire.
First elected in 1998, Johnson has served nearly three full terms as a judge. His retirement will be effective in May of this year.

“First, I want to express my appreciation to the people of Coffee County who have continually voted for me for three consecutive terms of office and 24 years of service to the State of Tennessee,” Johnson said in a letter. “It has been a great honor to have served the citizens of this District.
“Second, I want to thank my wife Marybeth and family for their support through the years. I also want to thank all of the consummate legal, clerk’s staff, and law enforcement professionals that I have worked with throughout my career. Since first being elected at age 34 back in 1998, I have come to realize what a special area of the State we live in.
“My current plan is to open my own law practice here in Coffee County, so that I can continue to serve, and to pursue other opportunities such as mediation and arbitration. Now that I have retired from two careers (military and judicial), I will also be spending more time with my family and friends.”
Four MPD officers receive recognition
Local businessman Jay Kalvala and Manchester resident Gene Holmes have teamed up to work on a project to show support for law enforcement officers at Manchester Police Department.
They began this project in September of 2020, and this month were able to recognize four more Manchester Police Department officers. The officers were: Captain Mitchell West, Sergeant Jordan Watson, Officer Jamie Newman and K-9 Officer Daryn Gadeken.
Mr. Kalvala and Mr. Holmes stated they intended to continue this project until every officer is recognized. All of the staff at MPD is humbled and thankful for the show of support from these gentlemen and the businesses supporting their effort.

Grundy County deputy avoids injury after car struck
A Grundy County deputy escaped without injury after his vehicle was struck while checking on a disabled motorist on Hwy. 399.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 5:55 p.m. Sunday, Deputy Logan Faulkner was checking on a Chevrolet Blazer that was pulling a small trailer and sitting in the westbound lane. Faulkner activated his blue lights. While speaking to a driver, a silver Chrysler Sebring struck the blazer and deputy Faulkner’s patrol vehicle. No injuries were reported and THP is investigating the crash.
