Arviddson’s hat trick leads Preds past Red Wings
Happy birthday, Viktor Arvidsson.
On the day he turned 28, the Predators winger recorded his third-career hat trick, and Nashville scored seven against the Red Wings for the second time this season to defeat Detroit by a 7-1 final on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena.
The result gives the Preds wins in six of eight tries against the Wings to finish the season series and victories in 11 of their last 13 overall outings to continue their hold on the fourth spot in the Central Division.
After Detroit got the game’s first goal, Nashville tallied seven unanswered, and Arvidsson finished off his hat trick when he converted on a penalty shot in the third period en route to registering quite an outing for him and his hockey club.

Raiders fight off Rebel rally to complete sweep of Franklin County

Franklin County loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning of a 2-1 game Wednesday night against Coffee County in Manchester.
But Red Raider senior Braden Brown slammed the door, striking out back to back batters to end the game – giving the Raiders a 2-1 win and a 2-game series sweep of the Rebels.
Brown entered and picked up the save for the second night in a row, closing the game for Jacob Holder, who was solid on the mound for the Raiders.
Holder took a shutout and a no-hitter into the seventh inning before running into trouble.
The Raiders took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Griffin Meeker scored on a Franklin County error.
The Raiders tacked on another run in the second, taking a lead when Hayden Hullett picked up an RBI on a fielder’s choice to score Brady Nugent.
That was all the support that Holder need. The sophomore right-hander went six and one-third, striking out 11 batters. He didn’t allow a hit until the seventh, when the Rebels picked up a pair of hits. He walked three.
The win improves the Raiders to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in District 8-AAA play. CHS will play at Grundy County at 5 p.m. Friday.

Raider soccer ties Falcons 2-2 Wednesday night

Each time Coffee County got a goal, Lincoln County was able to answer.
Despite taking a 1-0 lead in the first half and a 2-1 lead in the second half, Coffee County couldn’t hold the lead and ended up in a 2-2 tie with Lincoln County Wednesday night in Manchester, a game you heard live on Thunder Radio.
Coffee County took a 1-0 lead 21 minutes into the first half when Emilio Contreras fired a shot that ricocheted off the cross bar and dropped behind Lincoln County keeper Angel Lopez.
The Raider lead was short lived. Ten minutes later, Falcon Sammy Gantes cleaned up a corner kick around the net and snuck one past Raider keeper Bodey Todd to tie the game at 1-1, which held until haltime.
The Raiders quickly retook the lead just a minute into the second half. Todd punted from his goal keeper position and the ball bounced over the Falcon back line, setting up Red Raider John Martinez, who didn’t miss in a 1-on-1 opportunity, putting the Raiders up 2-1.
But the Falcons tied the game 18 minutes later when Shane Morris took advantage when Bodey Todd left the goal to try and collect a loose ball.

Coffee County was able to work multiple players into the game throughout the night.
