CMS Lady Raiders complete season sweep of Cannon County

The Coffee County Middle Lady Raider basketball team completed the season sweep of Cannon County Thursday night.

Coffee County went on the road and left Woodbury with a 49-25 win – playing all substitutes for the fourth quarter. It was the second win over Cannon County this week.

Ella Arnold led the way with 16 points. Natalie Barnes scored 15 and Jaydee Nogodula 7 in the win.

The win improves the Lady Raiders to 11-1 on the season. Coach David Vinson and player guests will be on the Coffee Coaches Show Saturday, Dec. 4. The show airs from 10-11 am on Thunder Radio, live from Al White Ford Lincoln.

Laura Faye Lowe

Laura Faye Lowe passed this life on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Alive
Hospice in Nashville at the age of 69. Funeral Services are scheduled for
Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 12 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with
burial to follow at Concord Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from
10 AM until the service time.

Laura, a native of Tullahoma, was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward
Hice Sr and the late Geneva Gilliam Hice.  She was an avid TN Vols fan and
enjoyed listening to music and fishing.  Her favorite times were spent with
her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Geneva
Renee Gilliam.

She is survived by sons, Bobby Gene Lowe Jr (Melinda) of Manchester and
Christopher Michael Lowe (Bethany) of Crossville; daughter, Jennifer
Hickerson (Jimmy) of Manchester; brothers, Thomas Edward Hice Jr and Gary
R. Hice (Kathy), both of Tullahoma; sister, Robbie Jean Clark of
Chattanooga; grandchildren, Meghan and Lauren Lowe, Leia Stevens; Devan
Hickerson, Terrin Maupin (Tori), Scottie Maupin Jr, Timmy Nowlin (Heidi)
and Jordan Nowlin (Heather) and eight great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in
her honor to Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home.

Aileen R. Owens

Aileen R. Owens of Tullahoma passed this life on Wednesday, December 1,
2021 at her residence at the age of 92. Graveside services will be held on
Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 3 PM at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Aileen was a member of First Christian Church of Tullahoma and enjoyed
being active in her church.  She also enjoyed being with her children and
grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing and reading.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her mother, Clairene Ray and her
husband, William Howard Owens.

She is survived by sons, Bill Owens (Susan) of Columbia and Steve Owens
(Charlie) of Tullahoma and granddaughters, Amelia and Allyson Owens.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Morning
Pointe for their compassionate care and support.

Mary Jane Corzine Thomas

Mary Jane Corzine Thomas, 91, of Chattanooga passed away November 23, 2021 in a local health care center.

A longtime resident of Manchester, TN., Mrs. Thomas was a retired Home Economist with the University of Tennessee.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Manchester, TN.

She held memberships with various quilting and sewing clubs for many years and was an avid cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Mary Margaretta Corzine; and brother, Henry Corzine.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Roland Earl Thomas;   son, Norman (Ellen) Thomas;  daughter, Rhonda Thomas, all of Chattanooga;  2 grandchildren, Ross Thomas, Cleveland, and Holly (Coleman) Cassidy, Murfreesboro, TN;  2 great-grandchildren, Ellie and Anna Cassidy;  sister, Emmy Kennedy, Metropolis, IL; nieces, Sarah and Katie Kennedy.

A family burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brooke Daniel, Marcie Beasley, and all the staff at Tennessee Oncology for their loving care of Jane during her illness.

Saturday one of three remaining signup days for Taylor-Graves Christmas charity

Sign ups and drop offs for the Gene Taylor – Steve Graves Christmas Foundation continue – with three dates remaining.

If you need Christmas assistance, you can sign up between 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 4, 1-4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 or 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. Sign ups at the Coffee County Rescue Squad at 2270 Murfreesboro Highway.

In order to sign up, you will need to have proof of residence in Coffee County (such as a driver’s license) and birth certificate of the child / children (or custodial papers). No phone calls.

If you wish to contribute items to the foundation, you can bring a new, unwrapped toy or canned food item to the rescue squad building on these same dates.

Warren County Sheriff’s Department asking for help finding missing man

Warren County Sheriff’s Department is attempting to locate Richard “Rick” McCormick.

He has been reported missing. He was last seen walking in the Campaign / Rock Island area of Warren County.

If anyone has seen McCormick or has knowledge of his whereabouts, contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at 931-668-7000.

H&R BLOCK STUDENT OF THE WEEK – Audri Patton

Join us at Thunder Radio and Rosalyn Partin of the Manchester H&R Block and congratulate our student of the week – Audri Patton.  

Audri is an 8th grader at Westwood Middle School. She was nominated by her teachers and administrators.  Audri is the daughter of Wendi and Jason Patton. Her favorite subject is science. During her free time, Audri enjoys playing basketball, shopping and this spring she will play softball. She is a member of the FCA.

After she graduates high school, Audri has plans to be an architect.

All students of the week are selected for their work ethic and excellent attitudes in and out of the classroom. 

Rosalyn Partin, owner of the Manchester H&R Block, has been inspired to recognize great kids in our community all year long. H&R Block gives each Student of the Week a commemorative plaque, a special letter of recognition and two tickets to Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park.

Bobby Levoid Meeks

Mr. Bobby Levoid Meeks, age 66, of Manchester, TN,
passed from this life on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Butner, North
Carolina. Mr. Meeks was born in Manchester, TN, to his late father Tom
Meeks and mother Anna Dorean Moore who survives him. He was a drywall
contractor for all his life and was very good at his job. In addition to
his father, he was preceded in death by a step father, James Clifton Floyd.
Mr. Meeks is survived by his mother, Anna Dorean Moore; sons, Bobby Shawn
(Stephanie) Meeks and Derrick Meeks; daughters, Amanda Faye Meeks and
Shannon (Michael) Lowry; grandchildren, Austin, Madison, Khane, Lhane,
Hailie, Jessie, James, Trey; cousin, Buck Meadows; several other cousins.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from
11:00am until 1:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral
services will be conducted immediately following visitation at 1:00pm from
the chapel of Central Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery in Hillsboro, TN.

Miss Maria (Belma) Silva

Miss Maria (Belma) Silva of Manchester, TN passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at AHAVA Nursing Home in Clarksville.

She was born in Shanghai China and later resided in Hong Kong. She was sponsored by her sister, Elmy Brandon, to come to the states. She was employed by the Circuit Sessions Court Clerk for 53 years where she retired. She was a generous person, always going around town leaving something for those she came in contact with.

She was predeceased by two siblings when she was a child, her parents, and stepmother, three adult sisters in the past 7 years, two nephews and one niece.

She is survived by a niece, Brenda (Kim) Allen and other nieces and nephews that reside out of the US.
There will be visitation at FBC, Manchester 5 to7 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021, and a graveside service at 11 a.m. on December 3, 2021 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family request no flowers but ask that you take an angel from a tree instead to memorialize her giving to others.
