Police Searching for Missing Man

David Edward Steele

Tullahoma Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man.
David Edward Steele, 33, of Franklin County has not been seen since Sept. 2
Steele is a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 lbs.
According to a police report by Tullahoma Police Officer Chase Sons, information about the missing man came about after a Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy made a traffic stop and the woman he stopped said that Steele had been shot in the area of Dossett Apartments in Tullahoma. Officers checked and there had been no report of a shooting at the apartments.
Officer Sons contacted Steele’s father and learned that there had been no activity on his social media account. The father told the officer that the last time he spoke with his son was Aug. 16. The father also asked the officer to make sure that surrounding counties be notified of Steele being listed as missing. He has been entered into the National Crime Computer system as a missing person.
Investigators from the Tullahoma Police Department have been contacting known friends of David Steel to learn if they have had contact with him.
Police asked that anyone with information on the whereabouts of David Edward Steel to call the police department at 931-455-0530.

Gas Prices Near $2 Per Gallon

Tennessee gas prices dropped another four cents during the past week. The state average has declined the last 44 consecutive days for a total of 34 cents.
Gas prices are averaging $2.26 in Tennessee. Despite the recent downward trend, the state average remains 12 cents higher than pre-Hurricane Harvey levels.
AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said we should expect another round of discounts at the pump later this week. Retail prices remain about 5-10 cents higher than where they should be.
The national average price of a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.44, a drop of three cents from a week ago and 22 cents higher than a year ago.
The low price per gallon this week in Manchester is $2.03 and in Tullahoma the low price is $2.09.

Safety Preparations continue in Shelbyville for Saturday’s Demonstration

As public safety preparations continue by the City of Shelbyville Administration and Police Department regarding a planned demonstration scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2017, citizens and visitors should expect traffic and parking impacts.
The City of Shelbyville was contacted by Michael Hill, representative of League of the South earlier this month that the group plans to hold a sidewalk rally from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 28th. Portions of Lane Parkway and North Cannon Blvd. will be closed before and during the rally. Specific times of road closures will be forthcoming, but the public needs to be aware that closures could occur Friday evening October 27, 2017.
Lane Parkway will be closed from the intersection of West Lane Street and Regent Drive to the North Main Street intersection of Lane Parkway. North Cannon Blvd. will be closed from the intersection of North Main Street to Holland Street. Signage will be posted, and citizens and visitors should expect alternate routes.
Parking for counter-protestors has been designated for Thomas Magnet School, 518 Tate Avenue and the former site of Harris Middle School, 400 Elm Street, Shelbyville, Tennessee. Surrounding private businesses including Big Springs Shopping Center have indicated parking is reserved for customers only and all others will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Protestors are advised to remain on sidewalks to and from their designated parking area,” the press release says. Parking will not be allowed on city streets in the area surrounding the sidewalk rally and areas affected by street closures.
This parking restriction will be strictly enforced beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017. Any vehicles in violation will be towed at the owner’s expense. All Shelbyville Housing Authority residents are advised to park in their designated driveways.
