Two Manchester residents Arrested by Tullahoma Police after an Alleged Incident
According to warrants obtained by Tullahoma Police Officer Brook Earhart, police were called to the store by employees. When officers arrived they were taken to the back of the store where they found Jason Ray Perry, 29, of Mill Street Manchester laying in the floor. The warrant alleges that he appeared to be impaired. He told police that he had only taken his normal medication.
Store employees alleged to the officers that Perry and Felisha Desarae Monroe, 41, of Mill Street Manchester had shoplifted $103.93 in merchandise.
The officer started to take the pair into custody and Perry allegedly resisted and kicked an officer in the chest. Officers subdued Perry and transported him to the Coffee County Jail where he was charged with assault, disorderly conduct, theft of property, public intoxication and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $25,500. He is to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court Dec. 7.
Monroe was charged with theft of property and public intoxication. Her bond was set at $4,000 and she is to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court Dec. 7.
Two of Five Former Football Players Charged with Attempted Rape might have been involved in Another Incident
New information from Grundy County reveals two of the five football players charged in an attempted rape case were involved in a previous incident.
In a documented case of alleged sexual exploitation, it involved four football players in 2015.
Sheriff Clint Shrum says that two of the players are the same ones facing charges of attempted aggravated rape in the most recent case.
According to the reports, the players were not charged in the 2015 case and school officials followed protocol when reporting.
Woman Charged with Arson in Tracy City
On Nov. 3, Tracy City Police Chief Charlie Wilder arrested Stephanie Morrison, 39, of Palmer, for arson.
Wilder said his department was dispatched to 160 12th St. in Tracy City, to remove an unwanted guest. Upon arrival, they removed Morrison who was arguing with her parents, homeowners Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Meeks, and arranged with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department to transfer her home to Palmer.
The next day, a passing motorist noticed a fire at the same address and called 911. Wilder and a Tracy City Police officer arrived on the scene within two minutes and were able to put out the fire which involved a four-wheeler and a part of the structure.
Later the same day, Wilder saw Morrison walking down the street.
“She reeked of gasoline,” said Wilder. He took Morrison into custody, interviewed her, and arrested her for arson.
The structure was saved. The chief said the arson investigation is ongoing and further details will be available at a later date.
Coffee County Sheriff’s Department K-9’s Re-Certified
Deputies Larry McKelvey (Yoshi), Jennifer Curbow (Max) and Sgt. David Grosch (Jarka) received recertification in Narcotics, Patrol Dog level 2 that includes tracking, trailing, obedience and more.
The training took place for one week and included the Iron dog competition that Max and Yoshi competed in.
Sheriff Steve Graves said he was very pleased with the work the three fine handlers and outstanding dogs have put in to be re-certified. He added that is proud that these K-9’s and deputies that are part of an impressive staff at the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.
Gift Cards now available at State Parks
Tennessee’s state park system has become the first in the nation to offer gift cards.
The Tennessean reported Monday the gift cards will range from $20-$500 and hit online vendors and all Kroger stores in Tennessee in mid-November. The deputy commissioner for the Bureau of Parks and Conservation, Brock Hill, says the system intends on keeping admission to its 56 parks free.
The gift cards can be used toward offerings such as lodging, camping, golf courses and dining.
Hill says the park system will end the year with a surplus to reinvest in the parks. With cabin rental revenue up by 41 percent over the past five years and camping revenue up by 88 percent, the state park system is currently generating nearly half of its $85 million budget in revenue.

The purpose of the meeting will be to call for Republican and Democrat County primaries, May 1, 2018. Registration forms will also be audited.

Coffee Middle Basketball Opens Play in Rockvale Tournament
The Coffee County Middle School basketball teams opened up play in the Rockvale Tournament on Monday night in Rutherford County. The Lady Raiders opened play at 4 PM against the host Rockvale Ravens with a 30 to 21 win. The Red Raiders fell to the Christiana Cougars in the 2nd game 40 to 28.
In the girls’ game, Coffee County got 11 points in the 3rd quarter to stretch a 2 point halftime lead to 9 points entering the 4th quarter. The Lady Raiders got 15 points from Kiya Ferrell, including 10 points in the first half. Alyssa McClanahan added 5 points and Alivia Reel and Marley Perry each added 3 points.
Despite a 16 point 4th quarter for the Red Raiders, Christiana was able to match Coffee County and hold on for the win. Connor Shemwell led Coffee County in scoring with 7 points. Aiden Abellana added 6 points and Ethan Baker chipped in 4.
The Raider teams return home on Tuesday night when they take on White County at the CCMS gym in a conference doubleheader. The doubleheader gets underway at 6 PM. Coffee Middle will return to Rockvale on Thursday for 2nd round tournament action.
Westwood Basketball Drops Pair at Forrest
The Westwood basketball teams hit the road to Chapel Hill on Monday night for an important conference doubleheader with Forrest. The Lady Rockets lost a nip and tuck battle with Forrest 35 to 31. The Rockets saw their 4 game winning streak come to an end in a 35 to 31 loss.
The Lady Rockets never trailed by more than 3 points at the end of the first 3 quarters against Forrest. Despite foul trouble on their post players, Westwood was able to hit 14 of 21 free throws to keep the game tight until the final horn. Kasen Holt was 7 of 8 from the line as she led the Lady Rockets in scoring with 13 points. Elizabeth Brown added 9 points as Westwood saw their 2 game winning streak come to an end.
Turnovers in the 4th quarter saw Forrest erase a 4th quarter deficit and send Westwood to their first loss since October 17th. Trent Thompson led the Rockets in scoring with 15 points. Brady Nugent added 9 points and John Dobson chipped in 6 points.
Westwood is back at home on Thursday night when they welcome Middle Tennessee Christian to the Joel Vinson Gym. The girls’ game will tip off at 6 PM and Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you live coverage as part of the First National Bank Hometown Sports Series. Predators Acquire Forward Kyle Turris, Signs Six-Year Deal

“Kyle is one of the best two-way centers in the National Hockey League,” Poile said. “He should be a great fit in our locker room and will bolster our lineup and give us the depth that’s necessary during the regular season and the playoffs. He is someone who can play in all situations and will help us tremendously on both ends of the ice. He will give our coaching staff a number of options in terms of offensive production and defensive responsibilities.”
Turris, 28 (8/14/89), has nine points (3g-6a) in 11 games with the Ottawa Senators this season. He led the Senators in goals last season, scoring a career-high 27, while adding 28 assists for 55 points. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound center has tallied at least 55 points in three of his last four seasons and had a career-best 64 points (24g-40a) in 2014-15. Over the course of his seven seasons in Ottawa, Turris led the team in goals with 117 and was second to only Erik Karlsson in points (274) and power-play points (73). He had 10 points (4g-6a) in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs and helped lead Ottawa to the Eastern Conference Final for the first time since 2007. Turris has 13 goals and 14 assists in 46 career postseason games and his 24 playoff points with Ottawa ranks second among all Senators since 2010-11.
A native of New Westminster, B.C., Turris was selected third overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2007 NHL Draft and is the highest-ever drafted Canadian Tier II Junior A player. Prior to his one season at the University of Wisconsin, where he led the Badgers in points with 35 (11g-24a), Turris won the British Columbia Hock-ey League’s championship in 2006 with the Burnaby Express. He finished second in the BCHL in scoring with 121 points (66g-55a) as a 17-year-old in 2006-07 and was named the Coastal Conference’s Most Valuable Player. Turris is a three-time gold medal winner at the international level and most notably won the 2008 World Junior Championship as a member of Team Canada, where he led his team in points with eight (4g-4a) in seven games.
