Teenager Missing for almost One Year
The 17-year-old left his home on March 31, 2017 and was last at Barfield Crescent Park in Murfreesboro.
Heather Simmers, the mother of Devin, stated in the past to our news partner WGNS Radio that she’ll never give up looking.
Detective Will Pinson, who is investigating, told our news partner WGNS Radio that a close friend said Devin expressed an interest in running away before and living as a homeless person. He packed a bag prior to leaving and stuffed pillows and blankets in his bed to show he was still there.

Researchers Holding Conference on Black Bears in East Tennessee
An estimated 1,600 black bears live in the Smoky Mountains and their greatest threat is encountering humans. Bears that become conditioned not to fear humans are more likely to be struck by cars or killed by hunters than if they remained in the park eating natural food. The more food bears find, the farther they’re likely to roam into urban areas.

CHS Baseball Captures Road Win at Lawrence County
In order to get away from Wednesday’s rainy forecast, the Coffee County Red Raider baseball team headed to Lawrenceburg on Monday night. In a game originally scheduled for Wednesday night, Coffee County took on Lawrence County in district baseball action. Coffee County held the Wildcats to 2 hits through 6 innings as they captured the 5 to 1 win.
Coffee County banged out 7 hits on the night as they used single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings to set the tone for the contest. A 3 run outburst in the 4th inning put the Red Raiders firmly in control. Lawrence County did lead off the bottom of the 7th with a home run before Zach Milan closed out the game on the mound. Nathaniel Tate got the start and went 6 innings allowing no runs on 2 hits with 11 strikeouts.
Offensively, A.J. Rollman had a pair of singles to lead the Raider hitting attack. Kael McCall, Jonathan Sherrill, Skylar Bratcher and Gage Edwards each added singles. Bratcher finished with 2 RBI.
The Red Raiders will host game #2 in the season series on Tuesday at Powers Field. First pitch is set for 6 PM and Thunder Radio will bring you the broadcast. The pregame show will begin at 5:45 PM.
CHS Softball Drops Heartbreaker to Warren County
The Coffee County Lady Raider softball team hosted Warren County on Monday night. Looking to avenge a loss to the Lady Pioneers on March 13th, Coffee County welcomed their non-district rivals to Terry Floyd Field. The Lady Raiders could not get the tying run in from 3rd base in the 7th inning as they fell 5 to 4.
A disastrous 1st two innings put the Lady Raiders in a 4 to 0 hole early as Warren County scored 3 unearned runs. After Coffee County rallied back with 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th, Warren County put an insurance run on the board and took a 5 to 3 lead into the bottom of the 7th. Abigail Parker led off the 7th with a double and scored on a single from Ashley Evans. Evans advanced to 3rd on a groundout and was stranded as Coffee County was called out on strikes to end the game.
Katie Rutledge finished the game with a single, a triple and 2 runs scored. Ashley Evans had a pair of singles and 2 RBI while Parker and Shelby Scrivnor each finished with a double. Scrivnor was named the Crazy Daisies player of the game.
The Lady Raiders are back at home on Tuesday for an afternoon matinee. Coffee County will play host to Milford, OH in a noon game at Terry Floyd Field. Thunder Radio will be on hand to bring you the broadcast. Lucky Knott will have all the action immediately following Swap and Shop here on WMSR.

Westwood Baseball Loses Slugfest to Cascade
The Westwood baseball team hosted conference rival Cascade on Monday. All season long, the Rockets have forced the opposition to go deep in their pitching staff to fashion a 7 and 1 record. On Monday, Cascade turned the tables as they exhausted the Westwood pitching staff and took a 19 to 13 win over the Rockets.
After Cascade jumped out to a 2 to 0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, the Rockets batted around in the 2nd to take a 6 to 0 lead. Westwood added 2 more in the 3rd to forge ahead 8 to 2. Cascade scored 5 runs in the 4th inning and 7 more in the 5th to take the upper hand. Westwood was able to cut the lead to 15 to 12 headed to the 7th but the Champions from Wartrace added 4 more runs in the 7th to take the fuel out of the Rocket comeback.
Westwood will travel to Cascade on Thursday for the 2nd game in the season series. First pitch is set for 5 PM.
