Eastern Star Manchester Chapter makes Donation to Coffee County Schools Family Resource Center

Members of the Eastern Star Manchester Chapter 339 recently donated hygiene items to Coffee County Schools Family Resource Center.
“We are grateful for the support and generosity from our local Eastern Star Chapter. We appreciate our community always going above and beyond to take care of our students and families in need right here at home,” said Taylor Rayfield, Coordinator of Family Resource for Coffee County Schools.
Coffee County Schools Family Resource Center exists to address the problems with the home and community environments which impede or create barriers to a child’s ability to learn and grow successfully. Coffee County Schools Family Resource Center provides educational support, resources, and programs that strive to engage and empower families. 3/6/19 — Marianne Haynes Brandon

Marianne Haynes Brandon passed from this life into the presence of her
Savior Thursday, February 28, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving
family and passed peacefully after an extended illness. In the words of
one that knew her well, she was funny, loving, smart, giving, caring,
matter of fact, truth hurts and God fearing. She was a retired educator
that dedicated 37 years of her life to the education and well being of so
many young people of Coffee County. Marianne was baptized at Silver Point
Church of Christ at the age of 13 and remained a devoted member of Main St.
Church of Christ, Manchester, TN. She was a graduate of DuPont High School
in Old Hickory, TN and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She
completed her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ed.S. Degrees. In her retirement,
she enjoyed her work with the Know Your Bible program at Main Street Church
of Christ, tending her flowers & her home, and spending more time with
family…especially her grandchildren. Known to many as Gran, she was a
loving and always funny presence to so many.

Marianne was born July 22, 1934 to the late Kathryn Herrin “Kitty” Haynes
and the late Melvin Jonathan “Bill” Haynes in Old Hickory, TN. Her
brothers Francis Herrin “Buddy” Haynes and Melvin Jonathan “Sam” Haynes,
Jr. preceded her in death. She was married to the late Joseph Alexander
Brandon on August 18, 1963 and taught at Central High School in Manchester
alongside her husband for many years. In 1965, she had her first child,
Tara Kathryn on April 12th and her second daughter, Joy Elizabeth on
February 16, 1972. She was blessed with “sons” John Moore and Barry
Vaulton when her girls married in 1989 and

1997, respectively. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Nicholas
Holman

Moore (1997), Samuel Denver Vaulton (2003) and Joseph Melvin Vaulton (2005.)
These were her family, her loves and so much of her life & happiness.

She was married to Joe Brandon for 46 years until his death in 2009. She
is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law Tara & John Moore and Joy &
Barry Vaulton, grandchildren Nicholas Moore, Sam Vaulton, Joe Vaulton and
Logan Carter all of Knoxville, TN, brother Allen “Butch” Thompson
(Teena),
niece Kathryn Rae Thompson, nephew Allen Thompson, and nephew Jonathan
Haynes all of Mt. Juliet, TN and niece Teresa “Tee” Haynes Lawlor (Lewis)
of Old Hickory, TN.

Services will be held in Knoxville, TN at Bridges Funeral Home, Rutledge
Pike Tuesday, March 5th with Visitation from 5-7pm. Services in
Manchester, TN will be Wednesday March 6th at Central Funeral Home with
Visitation from 5-7pm and Funeral at 7pm with a private burial at Rose Hill
Memorial Gardens.

3/6/19 — James L. Coop, Sr.

James L. Coop Sr. of Estill Springs passed this life on Sunday, March 3,
2019 at the Life Care Center of Tullahoma at the age of 82. The family
will receive friends from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at
Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled on
Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11 AM at First Christian Church of Tullahoma
with the family receiving friends from 10 AM – 11 AM. Burial will follow
at Concord Cemetery.

A native of Moore County, TN, he was the son of the late Leo and Leola
Tankersley Coop. He was a member of the First Christian Church of
Tullahoma and was very active with the “Swatt” Team. Mr. Coop worked at
TVA in Hartsville, TN and then was an operating engineer at AEDC until his
retirement. He was a 50-year member of F & M Masonic Lodge, Tullahoma and a
member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tullahoma. He enjoyed boating and
doing crafts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nephew, Evin Knight
and niece, Rhonda Haynes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margarete Knight Coop of Estill Springs;
son, James L ”Larry” Coop Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Tullahoma; sister,
Betty Coop Haynes and her husband, Cecil of Moore County; grandchildren,
James L “Jay” Coop, III of Tullahoma and Katherine “Katie” Coop of
Murfreesboro; brothers-in-law, Clay Knight and his wife, Marilyn of Moore
County and Drexel Knight of Tullahoma; sisters-in-law, Hallie Knight Ashby
of Tullahoma, Brenda Holder Knight of Shelbyville and Vickie Knight
Minkowitz and her husband, Sam of Tullahoma; Nieces and nephews, Michelle
Haynes Moorehead and her husband, Randall of Moore County, Rita Ashby
Migliaccio and her husband, Joe of Moore County, Carla Knight Ralston and
her husband, Robert of Shelbyville, Jade Knight Bradford and her husband,
Daniel of Franklin County, Jamie Knight and his wife, Christi of
Scarborough, ME, Jeremy Knight and his wife, Amy of Normandy of Sarah
Minkowitz of Jackson, TN; and grand nieces and nephews, Stone Ralston, Gage
Ralston, Cooper Knight, Jackson Knight, Thomas Knight, Kara Beth Knight,
Isla Bradford and Cheslie Bradford.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to
the First Christian Church of Tullahoma.

Coffee County Claybusters Have Record Breaking Performance on Saturday

The Coffee County Claybusters once again posted another dominant performance on Saturday at Big Springs in Christiana.  Competing against more than 120 shooters, a program record 11 different Claybusters captured hardware as individual winners.  Additionally, all 3 Claybuster teams won their respective class at the ATA/AIM shooting event.

The Claybusters Team #1 won the Junior Division with the high overall score of 475 outdistancing 2nd place Middle Tennessee Christian by 19 clays.  Team members, with their score in parentheses were: Victoria Majors(100), Lexi Stacey(98), Hayden Jacobs(97), Tucker Carlton(92) and Regan Crouch(88).

Claybusters Team #2 won the Sub-Junior, Class A division with a High Overall Score of 462.  Team members were: Jonah Wyatt(95), Xavier Bartley(95), Landon Meadows(95), Logan Meadows(95) and Dylan Hickerson(82).

Claybusters Team #4 won the Sub-Junior, Class B division with a score of 440.  Team members were: Riley Bellomy(96), Emma Mathews(94), Braden Davenport(85), Garrett Taylor(84) and Jacob Anderson(81).

Individual winners were: Hayden Jacobs, Junior Division AND Doubles champion; Victoria Majors, Lady’s champion; Jonah Wyatt, Class C champion; Xavier Bartley, Class D champion; Riley Bellomy, sub-junior champion; Emma Matthews, Class C runner-up; Lexi Stacey, Lady’s runner-up; Logan Meadows, sub-junior runner-up; Garrett Taylor, handicap runner-up; Landon Meadows, sub-junior 2nd runner-up; and Tucker Carlton, Class B 2nd runner-up;

The Claybusters are back in action on Saturday, March 16th when they return to Big Springs for a Scholastic Clay Target Program(SCTP) shoot.  Shooting will begin around 9 AM at the Christiana range.

Coffee County CHS Names Athletes of the Month

January Athletes of the Month

The Coffee County Central High School athletic department has partnered with Jiffy Burger restaurant to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that our student-athletes put into their sports. At the end of each month, each in-season head coach will be able to submit the name of one athlete who had a standout performance and demonstrated excellent leadership during that month. The head coaches and the administration will be given the opportunity to vote for one male and one female athlete to be named athlete of the month.

Last week, the CHS athletic department announced the selection of Darius Rozier and Bella Vinson as the student-athletes of the month for the month of January.

Darius is a senior captain for the Red Raider basketball team who led the team in scoring for the 2018-2019 season.  Darius was named the District 8AAA Player of the Year.  Darius was also selected to the District 8AAA All-Tournament and Region 4AAA All-Tournament teams.

Bella is a sophomore member of the Lady Raider basketball team who was among the team leaders in scoring for the 2018-2019 season.  Bella was named the District 8AAA Player of the Year.  Bella was also selected to the District 8AAA All-Tournament and Region 4AAA All-Tournament teams.

UPDATED with Pictures!!–Manchester Man Charged after I-24 Crash

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on Friday night at approximately 10:30pm, a vehicle driven by Joseph Collins, age 33, of Manchester, TN, was traveling west bound in the east bound lane on Interstate 24. Collins struck a semi-truck head-on. The 18-wheeler was being driven by Valeri Antov, age 60, from Illinois.

Collins was charged with DUI, open container law, schedule 2 & 6 drug violations, seat belt violation, due care, registration violation and driving on wrong side of road.
Collins was transported from the scene to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
