3/30/19–Frieda Crouch
Funeral services for Mrs. Frieda Crouch, age 82, of Summitville, TN, will be conducted 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Manchester Funeral Home with Bro. Lane Dix officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, March 29 at the funeral home. Mrs. Crouch passed away from an extended illness on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.
Frieda was born on October 3, 1936 in Summitville, TN, the daughter of the late James (J.W.) and Esther Lowry. She was a member of the Summitville Church of Christ, a homemaker, and a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society.
In addition to her parents, Frieda was also preceded in death by a brother, James Lowry, Jr.; nephew, James (Jimmy) Lowry, III; daughter-in-law, April Crouch; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Taylor and Dorothy Crouch; and brothers-in-law, Leighton, Charles, and Glendal Crouch.
Her survivors include her husband, Clyde Crouch; children, Keith (Jennifer) Crouch and Kelle (Jeff) Cantrell; grandchildren, Erin (Daniel) Castillo, Morgan Dyer (Jay Grissom), and Jayme Dyer; great grandchildren, Emory and Alex Castillo, Jonah and Josie Grissom, and Augustus “Carter” Morgan; sister, Sandy Carr (Lars Robinette); sisters-in-law, Judy Lowry and Vivian Crouch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Audrey and Bobby Stone, Jenny and Shelton Jones, and Jerry and Phyllis Crouch; nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 375 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.

3/30/19–Perry R Stephens
Stephens, Perry R., Clarksdale, Mississippi native and Tullahoma Tennessee resident, age 75, died March 26 at Tennova HealthCare – Harton Hospital in Tullahoma. He was the son of the late Grady Stephens, Sr. and Clara Hughes Stephens. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Stephens Bullock, brothers, Grady Stephens, Jr., Archie Stephens, Russell Stephens, James Stephens Walter Stephens, all of Mississippi. He is survived by wife of 53 years, Jean Prater Stephens, Tullahoma, Tennessee & daughter Tammy Stephens Bruley, Leesburg, Virginia; sister, Ann Stephens, Maben, Mississippi; brothers, H. L. Stephens (Juanita) Clarksdale, Mississippi; Doug Stephens (Janice), Euporia, Mississippi; sisters-in-law, Linda Stephens, Tupelo, Mississippi; Linda Hale (Charles); Elaine Holobaugh (Ricky); brothers-in-law, Wayne Prater, Gary Prater (Phyllis), Tommy Prater all of McMinnville, Tennessee, and many nieces and nephews. He served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was employed by the Alexandria Police Dept., Alexandria, Virginia and the Prince William County Police Dept., Woodbridge, Virginia for a total of 38 years. Mr. Stephens was a member of the Prince William County Retirees Association, The Alexandria Police, Fire & Sheriff Retirees Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, Battlefield 43, Manassas, Virginia, and the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Washington, D.C. The funeral service will be held at the Kilgore Funeral Home in Tullahoma on Saturday, March 30, at 11:00 a.m., and burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be held Friday, March 29th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday prior to funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “James E. 3/30/19–Robert Lee Gilliam Jr.
Gilliam Jr., Robert Lee, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday,
March 27th, 2019 at his home at the age of 88. Mr. Gilliam was born in
Tullahoma to the late Robert Lee Gilliam Sr. and Beatrice McBee Gilliam.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean
Conflict and went on to work as a PBX Installer Operator with Bell
South/ATT. Mr. Gilliam was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in
Tullahoma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
brother, John Francis “Buddy” Gilliam; and four sisters, Jessie Marie
“Dissy” Preston, Elizabeth “Dee” Osborne, Geneva Hice and Brenda Ferrell.
Mr. Gilliam is survived by his loving wife, Lola Jean Gilliam; sons,
Robert Lee Gilliam III of Tullahoma, Alan Keith Gilliam and his wife
Melody of Normandy and Darrell Gilliam and his wife Sarah of Tullahoma;
grandchildren, Justin Gilliam and his wife Amy, Amanda Gilliam and Kyle
Gilliam; and two great-grandchildren, Josh and Vanessa. Visitation will
be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at Kilgore Funeral Home from
2:00-4:00pm with the funeral service to immediately follow at 4:00pm with
Bro. Garry Irvin officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial
Gardens. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to

3/29/19–Izik Alonso Macias
Izik Alonso Macias passed this life on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Vanderbilt
Children’s Hospital at the age of eight days. Graveside services are
scheduled for Friday, March 29, 2019 at 2 PM at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation with the family will be Friday at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home
from 12 PM – 1:30 PM.
Izik was born on March 17, 2019 at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was
the son of Jessie Macias and Jennifer Bradford of Tullahoma. In addition to
his parents, he is survived by sisters, Kiley and Skyler Macias;
grandparents, Jessie and Ery Macias of Tullahoma, Paula Adams of Tullahoma
and Dale and Rebecca Bradford of Tullahoma; great grandfathers, Zenon
Macias of Summitville and Jack Rogers of Chattanooga; aunts, Becca Adams of
Tullahoma and Gina Macias of Murfreesboro and uncle, Leonel Macias of
Tullahoma.
Coffee County Softball Crushes Franklin County on Wednesday Night
The Lady Raider softball team of Coffee County CHS returned to Terry Floyd Field on Wednesday as they played host to Franklin County. In a game you heard here on Thunder Radio, Coffee County had a near record hitting performance as they routed the visiting Rebelettes in a game shortened to 2 ½ innings due to the Mercy Rule. The Lady Raiders won by a final score of 22 to 1.
After surrendering a home run in the top of the 1st inning, Coffee County sent 17 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning as they built a 13 to 1 lead. In the second, the Lady Raiders added 9 more runs as 15 Coffee County batters made a plate appearance. On the night, the Lady Raiders ripped 17 hits, including 3 doubles and a pair of triples. Kiya Ferrell had a double, a triple, a walk and 5 RBI to lead the hit parade. Justus Turner had a triple and a double and drove in 3 runs. Sarah West had a double and 2 singles and also drove in 3 RBI. Haley Richardson had 3 hits, 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. Keri Munn was 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI while getting the victory in the circle as she struck out 8. For their performances, Ferrell and Munn were named the Crazy Daisies co-players of the game.

Coffee County Baseball Falls to Lawrence County
The Coffee County Central High School baseball team traveled to Lawrenceburg on Wednesday to complete their 2 game district series with the Lawrence County Wildcats. After winning by the Mercy Rule on Tuesday, the Red Raiders fell to Lawrence County on Wednesday by a Mercy Rule margin. Coffee County dropped the district contest 11 to 1.
Trailing 2 to 0 going into the 4th inning, Coffee County cut the deficit in half when Bryson Hullett doubled home Skylar Bratcher in the top of the 4th inning. But Lawrence County answered the challenge with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th and ended the game with a 5 run explosion. Coffee County was held to 3 hits as Bratcher and Noah Bradshaw each added singles to go with Hullett’s RBI double.
Coffee County will return home on Thursday to host Mars Hill Bible out of Alabama as part of the Riverdale Warrior Spring Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Powers Field.

Stolen Credit Card in Tullahoma Sends Man on Spending Binge
One man appears to have gone on a shopping binge in Rutherford County, but Murfreesboro Police say the culprit was using someone else’s credit card.
Murfreesboro Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers says that the suspect broke into a vehicle in Tullahoma and reportedly took a credit card.
The male suspect then took the stolen card into Best Buy in The Avenue in Murfreesboro where two computers were charged to the card. Then the man went to Target in the ‘Boro where the suspect charged six Smart Watches. The total amount of items charged on the stolen credit card out of Tullahoma was $5,782.

Local Schools to Receive TVA Grants
Some public schools in our area are getting an extra boost for their STEM projects.
On Tuesday, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) announced $580,000 in grants to help public school educators in the Tennessee Valley develop their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education projects, large and small.
According to TVA, the competitive grant program provided teachers an opportunity to apply for funding up to $5,000 and preference was given to grant applications that explored TVA’s primary areas of focus: environment, energy, economic and career development and community problem-solving. Schools who receive grant funding must receive their power from a TVA distributor.
Local schools that will receive grant money are: Coffee County Central High School Coffee County, Bel-Aire Elementary School in Tullahoma and Hickerson Elementary School Coffee County.
