Coffee County Softball Falls to Cascade

The Coffee County Central High School softball team traveled to Wartrace on Tuesday for a non-district battle with Cascade.  Coming off a huge district win at Lawrence County on Monday, the Lady Raiders saw a late lead slip away in a 10 to 4 loss to the Lady Champions.

Coffee County took a 3 to 2 lead in the 4th inning and added an insurance run in the 5th to go on top 4 to 2.  But Cascade rallied for 6 runs in the 5th inning before adding a pair of insurance runs in the 6th.

The Lady Raiders banged out 11 hits on the night led by Katie Rutledge who was 4 for 4 with a solo home run.  Keri Munn and Haley Richardson each added 2 singles while Justus Turner ripped a double.  Gracie Pippenger had a 2 RBI single for the Lady Raiders.

Next up for the Lady Raiders, a trip to Alabama this weekend for the Bob Jones Tournament.  Coffee County will begin their Huntsville trip with a Thursday game in Athens against Athens High School.  That game will be played at Palmer Park and first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 PM.

Coffee County Tennis Sweeps Tullahoma

The Coffee County CHS tennis headed to western Coffee County on Tuesday night for their first meeting of the year with Tullahoma.  The Lady Raiders edged the Lady Cats 4 to 3.  The Red Raiders completed the sweep with a 6 to 1 win.

The Red Raiders swept the five singles matches.  Winning for the Raiders were Benedict Edinger(8-2), Jaden Talley(8-6), Jonah Rollman(8-3), Johnathan Welch(8-6) and Landon Booth(8-6).  In doubles play, the team of Edinger and Talley grabbed an 8 to 5 win.

The Lady Raiders got a doubles win from the team of Lauren Perry and Emma Fulks to capture match victory.  Perry and Fulks won by a final score of 8 to 2.   In singles play, Wren Lawson(8-1), Kylie Millaway(8-3) and Emma Fulks(9-7).

The Raider netters will return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Tullahoma to take on the rival Wildcats.  First serve is set for 4 PM.

CCMS Baseball Crushes South Franklin on Tuesday

The Coffee County Middle School baseball team hit the road to Winchester on Tuesday night looking for a season sweep over South Franklin.   The Raiders banged out 21 hits on the day to coast to a 28 to 1 win.

Jacob Holder, England Bryan and Hayden Garr each had 3 hits to lead the Raiders.  Holder finished with a double and 2 singles while adding 5 RBI.  Garr stroked 3 singles and drove in 4 runs.  Bryan had a double and 2 singles and had 1 RBI.  Aiden Robertson got the win on the hill as he pitched a complete game 1 hitter with 7 strikeouts.

The Red Raiders will travel to Cookeville on Thursday for a non-conference game with Prescott Middle.  First pitch is set for 5 PM.

Westwood Soccer Shuts Out St. Andrews-Sewanee

The Westwood Rockets soccer team traveled up the mountain on Tuesday as they visited conference foe St. Andrews-Sewanee.  The Rockets defense did not allow a shot on goal to keep the Mountain Lions off the scoreboard in a 2 to 0 win.

Izick Sierra got a goal in the first half and Nico Sanfilipo added a 2nd half goal for Westwood.  Lex Dodson was credited with an assist as the Rockets remained perfect in conference play.

The Rockets return home on Wednesday when they take on Tullahoma in a non-conference make-up contest.  That match will get underway at 6 PM at Dyer-Bouldin Field.

CCMS Softball Blanks South Franklin

The Coffee County Middle School softball team kept the hot streak going on Tuesday night in Winchester as they took on South Franklin.  The Lady Raiders bats accounted for 13 hits and pitcher Savannah Cooper threw a 1 hitter as the Lady Raiders won 20 to 0.

Cooper pitched all 3 innings striking out 4.  At the plate, Cooper had a double and 2 RBI.  Aleayia Barnes had a home run and a single and drove in 4 runs while Channa Gannon finished with a double and 2 singles.

The Lady Raiders will return home on Monday for a non-conference game with Christiana.  First pitch is set for 5 PM.

Westwood Softball Suffers First Loss of Season

The Westwood softball team welcomed Huntland to Lady Rocket Field on Tuesday. In a low scoring pitcher’s duel, the Lady Hornets gave the Lady Rockets their first loss of the year 2 to 1.
Westwood got on the board in the 2nd inning when Emma Kidder got a 1 out single. Her courtesy runner, Audri Patton scored later in the inning on a passed ball. Huntland plated a pair of runs in the 4th inning to steal the conference win. Westwood was held to 4 hits on the game as Kidder, Brooklyn Blake, Aleah Wakefield and Lilee Scott all had singles.
The Lady Rockets hit the road on Thursday when they travel to Shelbyville to take on Liberty. First pitch is set for 5:30 PM.

Coffee County Middle School Tennis Sweeps Warren County on Tuesday

The Coffee County Middle School tennis team welcomed Warren County to the Raider Academy courts on Tuesday.  The Red Raiders dominated their match as they shut out 7 to 0.  The Lady Raiders were also dominant getting an 8 to 1 win.

Winning in singles matches for the Lady Raiders were Savannah Blackburn(6 to 0), Claire Rondolet(6-0), Lauren Hogan(6-1), Morgan Tinsley(6-4) and Stella Orames(6-3).  In doubles actions, Coffee County got wins from the teams of Blackburn/Rondolet(6-0), Hogan/Raelin Tucker(7-5) and Tinsley/Kyra Sherrill(6-2).

The Red Raiders got singles wins from Krish Patel(6-2), Liam Brown(6-1), Matthew Blomquist(6-1), Xander Blomquist(6-4) and Nolan Sussen(6-1).  In doubles play, the Red Raiders got a pair of tiebreaker wins.  The team

Westwood Baseball Falls to Huntland

The Westwood baseball team traveled to Huntland on Tuesday night for game #2 in the season series.  Coming off a performance where they were held to 3 hits on Monday,  the young Rockets were once again held to 3 hits as they fell 10 to 0 in 6 innings.

Westwood kept it close for 4 innings as they trailed 2 to 0 heading to the bottom of the 5th inning.   Huntland scored 3 in the 5th before ending the game in the 6th with 5 more runs.  Raiden Sain had a pair of singles to lead the Rockets.

Westwood will travel to Shelbyville on Friday for a conference game with Liberty.  First pitch is set for 5 PM.

Westwood Tennis Opens Season with Home Loss to Shelbyville

After a pair of early season cancellations, the Westwood tennis team opened their season on Tuesday at home taking on Shelbyville.  The Lady Rockets fell by a final score of 4 to 3.  The Rockets lost by a score of 5 to 2.

The Lady Rockets started off the match with a doubles win by the team of Rylea McNamara and Anna Johnson(6  to 1) but could only add a pair of singles win to go with it.  McNamara won in singles play 6 to 1 while Johnson won 6 to 2.

The Rockets also got a doubles win from their number 1 team of Johnathan Nelson and Jeffery Hale by a score of 6 to 2.  Unfortunately, Nelson was the only Rocket to capture a singles win as he grabbed a 6 to 0 decision.

The Rocket netters return to the court on Wednesday when they host Lewisburg at Fred Deadman Park.  First serve is set for 4 PM.

Middle School Golf Teams Fall in Shelbyville on Tuesday

The Westwood Middle School golf team teed it up again on Tuesday as they traveled to Shelbyville to take on Harris Middle at Riverbend Country Club.   The Rockets fared better than they did on Monday but came up short to the Eagles.  The Rockets lost 9 ½ to 2 ½.

The team of Lyndsey Paschall and Leah Kate Sullivan captured 1 ½ flags.  The team of Araya Hughes and Evan Michael Edison brought home 1 flag.

The Rocket linksters will be back in action on Monday when they take on South Franklin at Willowbrook.  That match will tee off at 4 PM.

The Coffee County Middle School golf team visited Riverbend Country Club in Shelbyville on Tuesday for a match with Liberty.  The Raiders fell by a final score of 10 to 2.

The duo of Zach Tidwell and Austin Dockrey earned 1 ½ flags.  The team of Cadie Prater, Kira Jarrell and Liza Freeze captured a ½ flag.

The Coffee County golfers will return to the course on Monday when they host North Franklin at Willowbrook.  That match will tee off at 4 PM.
