Warning!! New Robocall Scam
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and area law enforcement are warning people to avoid answering the phone for a number you don’t know.
A new Robocall scam is impacting people in Coffee County and beyond, and, according to reported complaints, the calls come in the middle of the night.
Early Sunday morning thousands of cell phone users received multiple Robocalls where an automated caller hangs up after one ring.
An automated voice message directs the intended victim to call the number back. The call might come from a 222 country code, which is the West African nation of Mauritania.
The scam was designed to work as a 1-900 number that charges a fee to the phone owner’s account, this can create a very large bill.
Officials say there are some ways to prevent Robocalls from spamming your phone by adding your number to the National Do Not Call List.

LaVergne, TN Police Attempting to Identify Jane Doe
Modern digital imaging can now take a clay model rendering of a face one step further. Jane Doe’s remains have been enhanced by forensic scientists at Louisiana State University to provide an image of the victim as she might appear in a photo.

The youngest of four siblings, Hazel Baird Manier was born January 30, 1934 to Nina Ruth and David Lemuel Manier at the family farm in Eagleville, where she spent most of her childhood. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Aubrey Carlton, on September 4, 1952. After graduating as valedictorian of her class at Eagleville High School, Hazel completed business college and worked as a secretary at Duck River Electric Co-op prior to starting a family. During those years, Hazel shared her skills in sewing, cooking, gardening and music with many young people who still recognize her influence in their lives today.
