Marion Lassetter Wilkinson, much loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away on November 13, 2020. Marion, who was the only daughter of a hard-working and forward-thinking cotton farmer, started her life in Villa Rica, Georgia, on April 19, 1919.  There with her two brothers, Jack and Jimmie, she lived what she considered an idyllic childhood.  She attended college at Howard (later Samford University) and the University of Georgia, where she also received her teaching degree.  It was while teaching in Duluth, Georgia, that she met and married fellow teacher, A.C. Wilkinson.  When WW II ensued, and her husband became a navigator in the Air Corps, Marion became a full-fledged army wife.  After the war, she and A.C. had their son, Terrell, while A.C. attended vet school in Athens, Georgia.  Their daughter, Robbie, followed 6 years later, after they moved and set up practice in Manchester. This amazing woman, who loved walking in the woods, working in her yard, and laughing with her friends, devoted herself wholeheartedly to every aspect of her life.  Raising her children, teaching her students at Westwood Elementary, and loving and spoiling her grandchildren, were just a few of the things at which she excelled.  Her most daunting challenge, however, was surviving the loss of her beloved son, Terrell, in the Vietnam War.  This devastating blow demonstrated in Marion a strength of character and grace in time of hardship that carried her through the ups and downs of the years that followed.  This difficult time also included the untimely loss of her dear brother, Jack, shortly after Terrell’s death. Although Marion had more than her share of sad and difficult times, she had a resilient and joyful spirit, always living and giving her life to the fullest.  She will be greatly missed by daughter, Robbie; son-in-law, Tom; beloved grandchildren, Tommy, Erin (husband Ben), and Kate; great grandchildren, Nolan, Addy, and Nora; and the many friends who have been such a blessing throughout her years in Manchester.  Marion also leaves behind a special relationship with her niece, Janice Kitchens, husband Bill, and their two daughters Susannah and Jessica. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Morning Pointe of East Hamilton, where the wonderful staff treated mom like she was their family too – also Amedisys Hospice for the excellent supplemental care they provided. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 1:00pm at Manchester City Cemetery. Mr. John William Bean, age 84, of Hillsboro, TN,
passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Bean was born in Grundy County, Tennessee, to his late parents Jennie
Sartain Bean and Lloyd Bean. He worked for many years as a truck mechanic
for Batesville Casket Company until 2001 when he retired. Mr. Bean was a
member of Rutledge Hill Community Church as well as the Heartfelt Gospel
Music Association where he served as president.  In addition to his parents
he was preceded in death by his wife Zora Elizabeth Parks Bean; brothers,
Owen Bean, Charlie Bean, James Bean, and Eugene Bean; sisters, Ruth Bean
and Ruby Bean.

Mr. Bean is survived by son, Randy Bean and special friend Anne Gillespie,
Tullahoma, TN; daughters, Martha (Larry) Thompson, Quebeck, TN, and Mary
(Joey) Shelton, Hillsboro, TN; sister, Pauline Marchesoni, Manchester, TN;
seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 15, 2020, from 5:00pm until
8:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services will be
conducted on Monday, November 16, 2020, at 10:00am at Rutledge Hill
Community Church with Mike Rigsby and Erik Shelton officiating. Burial will
follow at Rutledge Hill Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers are Kelly Hall, Sandi Sidlowe/Bobby Sidlowe,
William Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Elan Thompson, Erik Shelton, Lora
Shelton. Honorary pallbearers are John-Sawyer Sidlowe, Zora-Henley Sidlowe,
Hayden Thompson, and Layla Collingsworth.

Mrs. Alita Kate Ford Judge, age 67, of Hillsboro,
TN, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020, in Manchester, TN.

Mrs. Judge was born in Houston, TX, to her late parents John L. Ford and
Betty Wonette Bazmore. She worked at Walmart for 18 years, then worked in
home health for a while up until her retirement. Mrs. Judge enjoyed
gardening, loved watching hummingbirds, and had a green thumb to make
things grow. She also loved cooking, especially for the holidays. Along
with cooking, she was an avid canner. Mrs. Judge also loved crafts,
especially quilting, and loved painting. She loved being with her family
and loved her grandkids dearly. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by sons, Larry Dale Henderson and Daniel Ford; brother,
John Ford; and sisters, Mozell Ford and Jeanette Ford.

Mrs. Judge is survived by her husband of 36 years, AJ Judge; sons, Burnice
Leon Ford, Dennis Ray Judge, and Kenny Franklin Ford; daughter, Tina (Jim)
Mullinax; sisters, Marilyn Thomas, Barbara Wilman, Rita Barnes, Bell
Newberry, Tammy Cothran, and Nora Netzband; grandchildren, Hailey Ford,
Amber Webb, Ashley Webb, Levi Mullinax, Isabella Ford, several other
grandchildren; great grandchild, Arlie J. Michelle Bridgers, and several
other great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Monday, November 16, 2020, from 10:00am
until 12 noon at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services
will be conducted at 12 noon in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with
Billy Robison officiating. Burial will follow at Greens Chapel Cemetery in
Fyffe, Alabama, at 2:30pm.

Ora Magaline “Maggie” (Ables) Edwards, age 87, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020. She was born in Lincoln County on June 16, 1933, the daughter of the late William “Bud” and Mable (Harbin) Ables. She married her late husband Robert N. Edwards, Sr. June 5, 1955, and they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage. She was a homemaker, dedicated and wonderful mother, grandmother, Christian, and a long-time member of Prospect Baptist Church.  She enjoyed quilting and was famous for her Southern Pecan Pie.  

Maggie is survived by sons Benny Edwards of Fayetteville, David Edwards of Davie, Florida, Tommy (Wendy) Edwards of Spring Hill, Dr. Bill (Amy) Edwards of Fayetteville, two daughters Allison (Jim Henry) Greene of Huntland, and Betty (Richard) Knott of Fayetteville, ten grandchildren James Robert (Ariel), Nathan, Sofia, Faith, Annabelle, Jared, Alex, Rhiannon, Shelly (Perry) Phillips, and Shannon (Troy) Nixon, two great grandchildren Emily Stringer and Chace Nixon, and several special nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Leon, Marvin, and Frank, sisters Minnie Ruth, Catherine, Katie Sue, and Liz “Polly”, and her eldest son Robert “Bobby” N. Edwards, Jr.  

Graveside services will be Sunday, 3:00 pm at Prospect Cemetery with Brother Ronnie Gay officiating. In light of COVID-19, there will be no prior visitation.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter or Lincoln County Genealogy Society.  The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Maggie’s long-time family physician Dr. William Jones, her caregivers at Donalson Care Center, Dr. Amit Arora, and Dr. Bill Edwards.

Basiel Earl Hockett, age 82, of Beech Grove, TN, passed away on November
11, 2020, with his loving wife and family by his side. Graveside services
will be conducted on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 11 AM in the Rose Hill
Memorial Gardens with Rick Duggin of Knoxville, TN officiating.

Basiel was a humble, tender-hearted man who carried a constant smile. He
had an enduring love for God, the Church, his wife, family, friends and
farming. Perhaps his high school yearbook described him best with this
quote “A quick blush, followed by a hurried smile endears us to Basiel all
the while”. Basiel did have an endearing smile, and he enjoyed provoking
laughter and smiles from his loved ones with witty comments or in the
winter he may resort to torturing by putting cold hands on your face.

Basiel and Lyda shared a love of God and Christ and held God as the head of
their house. He served as a faithful member and deacon at Manchester Church
of Christ where he was known as “Pa”. Outside of Church and his family,
agriculture was his passion. In 1968, he moved his young, budding family
back to Hoodoo, Tennessee to begin his own path as a farmer, a passion he
had garnered from his own parents. Basiel and the love of his life, Lyda,
were a complete and amazing team. Together, they dairy farmed for 45 years,
and raised 4 children: Lisa, Lori, Libby, and Mitchell. He loved his
children and was a committed, nurturing father who had a firm hand.

Upon his “retirement” in 2004, Basiel and Lyda went into beef production.
He was very active in many aspects of agriculture in Coffee County
including 4-H, Farm Bureau and as a director in Coffee County Soil
Conservation and Farmers Co-op. In his later years his farming friends knew
he could be found at the Beech Grove store for fish fry on Fridays. Basiel
was a simple, humble man who was most happy spending time with his family
and friends and his shining Christian influence will be greatly missed.

Basiel was preceded in death by parents Earl and Orene Hockett, and
grandson Kevin Callahan and is survived by his wife, Lyda Hockett, his
daughters Lisa (Ben) Bunting, Lori (Robby) Callahan, Libby (Mark)
Kuykendall, and son, Mitchell Hockett, his grandchildren Mitchell (Hailey),
Andy (Courtney), and Alicia Bunting, Chris (Kathryn), Kyle, and Kayla
Callahan, Noah, Heath, Allie Shaye, and Eli Kuykendall and four great
grandchildren  Abigail and Conner Bunting and Maggie and Audrey Callahan.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St Judes
Children’s Hospital or Sacred Selections Assisted Adoptions.

Nancy Lee Shelton, age 69, of Woodbury, TN, passed from this life on
Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at her residence.  A Celebration of Life
visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 1:00 PM until
4:00 PM at Manchester Funeral Home.

Nancy was born in Annacortez. WA, the daughter of the late Vernon Barnes
and the late Jackie Lightheart Tomizek.  She was a retired machinist at
Whirlpool and a member of World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, TN.  Nancy
enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, playing bingo with friends at the
Senior Citizens Center, flea marketing, antiquing, and canning.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her son,
Rusty Lee Shelton; and sister, Debbie Finney.  She is survived by her
loving husband of 51 years, Nicky Lee Shelton; daughter, Jenine Lee
(Charles Van) Johnson; brother, Ricky Barnes; sisters, Donna Waring and
Tammy Elledge; stepfather, John Al Tomizek; grandchildren, Megan
Hollandsworth, Taylor Reed, Kayla Currin, Nikki Shelton, Ashley Parham,
Rusty Shelton, Jr., Jonathon Shelton, and Savannah Johnson; and great
grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Mooneyham, Kelsie and Kensley Shelton,
Chandler and Greyson Reed, and Dalton Parham.

The Lord brought an angel, mother, grandmother and sister home Sunday, November 9, 2020 with the passing of long-time Manchester resident, Joyce Ann Prather.

Ms. Prather was born in Somerset, KY on August 22, 1944 to her parents, the
late Ernest and Zula Holder.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded
in death by two brothers, Jack Holder and Ernest Holder, Jr. and 2 sisters,
Virginia Finkbiner and Nellie Culp.

Ms. Prather is survived by her brother, Huey Holder; son, Joey Prather;
granddaughter, Addison Prather; daughter in law, Stephanie Prather. Ms.
Prather was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, KY.

Many folks remember Ms. Prather from Crockett’s restaurant where she spent
many years bringing smiles and laughter to Manchester residents and repeat
travelers. Grace and kindness should fill all our heart as they did Ms.
Prather.

Family will receive friends Thursday, November 12, 2020, from 12 noon until
1:00pm at Central Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted
Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral
Home with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Manchester
City Cemetery.
