State launches new program to protect victims of violence
The state of Tennessee is introducing The Safe At Home Address Confidentiality Program, the Department of State’s newest program aimed at supporting victims of domestic violence, sexual offenses, stalking, and human trafficking in their efforts to escape their abusers.
Through the program, participants will be able to ensure that their residential address, which will be made confidential, will not be subject to public records request disclosure by state and local government agencies and officials.
Under Tennessee law, all state or local government records are considered public and available for public review. These records include identifying documents such as voter registration and driver’s license information, making it easy for abusers to find you. Through the Safe at Home program, your address is concealed and secure. Victims of domestic abuse, stalking, human trafficking, victims of sexual offenses, and victims of crimes are all encouraged to apply for Safe at Home. More information can be found by clicking here. You can also call 615-253-3043 for more information.
Blood Assurance low on blood
Blood assurance is low on blood supply and you can help. Blood assurance needs to maintain a five day supply of each type of blood. However, there is less than a one-day supply of B-negative, A-negative and O-positive currently on hand. Blood assurance says it always sees fewer donations in the summer months. To be eligible to donate you must be 18-years old or have parental consent if you are 16 or 17-years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in overall good health. Before donating, drink plenty of fluids and eat a meal rich in iron. You can call blood assurance for more information at 1-800-962-0628 or visit 652 N. Jackson St. in Tullahoma.
Sounds’ Win Streak Snapped at Home on Saturday
The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to pull away from the Nashville Sounds in a 10-7 win in front of a sellout crowd of 11,028 at First Tennessee Park Saturday night.
The back-and-forth tilt was even at the start of the eighth. Trouble started when three of the first four batters reached for Oklahoma City against Nashville reliever Miguel Del Pozo. With the bases loaded and one out, Del Pozo balked to give the Dodgers a 6-5 lead.
Del Pozo struck out Zach Reks for the second out in the inning and was relieved by Reed Garrett. Dodgers designated hitter Cameron Perkins greeted Garrett with a two-run single to extend Oklahoma City’s lead to 8-5. The Dodgers sent five more hitters to the plate and tallied two more runs to make it 10-5.
Nashville made some noise in the ninth when Juremi Profar and Zack Granite collected base hits. Eli White banged a double into the left field corner to score both runners. The Sounds brought the tying run to the plate but the Dodgers worked out of the jam.
The teams exchanged runs in the early going as Oklahoma City got solo home runs from Connor Joe in the first and Jon Kemmer in the third to take a 2-0 lead.
Granite’s RBI single in the bottom of the third trimmed the deficit in half. In the fourth, Scott Heineman tripled, Andy Ibanez doubled, and Christian Lopes singled to spark a rally. The three consecutive hits plated a pair of runs to give the Sounds a 3-2 lead.
As they did all night long, Oklahoma City answered. Cameron Perkins drilled a two-run homer off Nashville starter Austin Bibens-Dirkx in the fifth to regain a 4-3 lead.
Nashville tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth and 5-5 in the seventh but never led after Perkins’ two-run homer.
Granite and Lopes had multi-hit games for Nashville.
Game two of the five-game series is scheduled for Sunday night at First Tennessee Park. Right-hander (5-6, 4.23) starts for the Sounds against right-hander Dustin May (0-0, —) for the Dodgers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.

Sounds Sweep Memphis, Win Fifth Straight
Pedro Payano tossed five shutout innings and the Nashville Sounds got home runs from Scott Heineman and Patrick Wisdom en route to a 3-1 win over the Memphis Redbirds Friday night at AutoZone Park.
The win completed a four-game sweep over the division rival and gave the Sounds a win in the season series, 9-7. It was the first four-game series sweep for the Sounds since sweeping the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in August of 2018.
Payano got the start for Nashville and did his part from the jump. The right-hander allowed only three hits and racked up eight strikeouts in his second win of the season. The offense provided Payano and the bullpen with just enough runs.
Scott Heineman’s huge night at the dish started in the third when he drilled a solo home run to deep left-center field. Heineman went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, a run scored and a walk.
Moments after Payano departed after five strong innings, Wisdom gave the Sounds a 2-0 lead with a solo blast in the top of the sixth inning. It was his 11th home run of the season.
A rally in the seventh netted the Sounds their third run of the night. Catcher Jett Bandy started the inning with a double to left-center, Zack Granite reached on a bunt single, and Heineman made it a 3-0 game with a sacrifice fly to right-center.
Memphis got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with a single tally off reliever Phillips Valdez. Randy Arozarena’s third hit of the night was a single to center to score Irving Lopez making it a 3-1 game.
Nashville relievers Jake Petricka and David Carpenter worked the eighth and ninth innings. Petricka worked out of a jam in the eighth by getting Joe Hudson to bounce into a 6-4-3 double play and Carpenter retired Tyler O’Neill to end the game with the bases loaded.
The Sounds return home Saturday night to begin a five-game series with the Oklahoma City Dodgers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at First Tennessee Park.
