Charles Michael George

Charles Michael George passed this life on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the age of 65. No services are scheduled at this time.
Mr. George, a resident of Harvest, AL, was the son of the late Charles and Ella Rogers George. He was a “Jack of all trades and Mr. Fix it.” He was not one to sit around and was always busy doing something. Going to yard sales to look for treasures, fishing, and spending time with family and friends were just some of the things Mr. George enjoyed doing most.
He is survived by his son, Christopher George of Huntsville, AL; daughters, Brittany Rozar (Jason) of Fayetteville and Jennifer Grimes (Stanley) of Murfreesboro; sisters, Diane Clardy (Terry) of Madison, AL and Pam Wimberly (Mark) of Hazel Green, AL; and five grandchildren.

Jeffrey Lee Cox

Jeffrey Lee Cox was born in Guntersville, Alabama on December 11, 1962, to William Kenneth Cox and Rebecca Ann Wood Cox. Jeffrey entered into the arms of Jesus on November 25, 2020. He is best remembered as a gentle-hearted and resolute man of God and steadfast provider for his family.

Jeffrey is preceded in death by his parents, William Kenneth and Rebbeca Ann Cox. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Irene Condra Cox; two daughters, Erica Irene Cox and Amber Leigh Cox (Michael) Sheidler; and brother, Kenneth Michael (Melanie) Cox.

Betty Joe Taylor

Betty Joe Taylor passed this life on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the age of 78.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 12:00PM at High View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lynchburg Funeral Home from 10:00AM until 10:30AM.

Ms. Taylor, a native of Moore County, was the daughter of the late Aaron and Auretta Green Whitaker. She was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ where she loved being in attendance. Ms. Taylor also enjoyed talking on the phone while sitting on her front porch and picking turnip greens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Howard Whitaker.

She is survived by her son, Aaron Taylor (Hobrina) of Columbia, TN; daughters, Dr. Rita Whitaker of Murfreesboro, TN and Natalie Maxwell (Jason) of Belleville, IL; brothers, James Henry Whitaker and William Phillip Whitaker (Marlene); special friends, Jewell Wells, Minnie Henderson, and Stephanie McGowen; grandchildren, Aaron Joseph Whitaker, D.J. Key, and Allata Taylor; great granddaughter, Khloee Jo Kuhn.

Veeda Mae Tidwell Mayberry

 Mrs. Veeda Mae Tidwell Mayberry, age 88, of
Manchester, TN, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020, in Murfreesboro,
TN.

Mrs. Mayberry was born in Hickman Co., TN, to her late parents Leechie E.
Tidwell and Dollie Pendergrass Tidwell. She was a nurse technician and
receptionist for Dr. Young here in Manchester before retirement. Mrs.
Mayberry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Manchester. In
her free time, she loved crocheting, baking sourdough bread, gardening,
square dancing and travelling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, John W. Mayberry; son-in-law, Timmy Sain;
brothers-in-law, Sam Litton and Kenneth Tidwell.

Mrs. Mayberry is survived by daughters, Pam Sain and Penney (Garry)
Gilliland; sister-in-law, Cecile (Jack) Allen; sisters, Charlesta
(Clarence) Litton and Joy Tidwell; grandchildren, Kyle (Christi), Sloane,
Connor, Whitney (Lee), and Brittany (Lee); great grandchildren, Elena,
Annelyse, Gunnar, Sawyer, Knox, Koby (Shawnda), and Ceanna; several nieces
and nephews; her cat, Smokey, and her dog, Hachi.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at
2:00pm at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, TN.

Wilma Bush

Mrs. Wilma Bush, age 88, of Manchester passed from this life on Friday, November 27, 2020, at St. Thomas – Midtown in Nashville, TN.  Wilma was born in Manchester on September 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Oscar and Della Clouse.  She was a beloved teacher for the Coffee County Schools and was dedicated to the education of children for over 30 years.  Wilma had a love for church and family.  She had a joy of life and serving others and was a hard worker.  Wilma was very social, she loved to travel, and she was very dedicated to her husband.  She loved birds, flowers, and dolls.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, Wilma is also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bush; brothers, Infant Baby Brother, James Clouse, and Johnny Clouse; sister, Sandra Clouse.  She is survived by her son, David Bush (Lee Ann); daughter, Jo Anne Sorrell (Jim); brother, Charles Clouse; sisters, Joyce Ladd, Sue Banks, and Jane Lusk; grandchildren, Kirsten Roy (Aaron), Landon Bush (Rachel), Kevin Lillis, Chelsea Ison (Logan), Erin Eudaly (Stewart), Andrew Fulks, Parker Bush (Devan), Shelly Fulks; great-grandchildren, Kendall Bush, Hali Bush, Patrick Eudaly, Shae Bush, and Madison Eudaly; chosen family member, Dwayne Fulks (Glenna).

Due to COVID-19 a Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date.

Gary Messick

Funeral services for Mr. Gary Messick, age 75, of Manchester will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.  Mr. Messick passed from this life on Friday, November 27, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Gary was born in Woodbury, TN, the son of the late Horace and Annie Messick.  He was a very easy going guy, who liked to crack jokes and always had a smile on his face.  Gary was a kind, gentle hearted man who loved his family, friends, and church family.  He was a loving father and brother.

In addition to his parents, Gary is also preceded in death by one son, Curtis Messick; one sister, Dorothy Presley.  He is survived by one son, Jason Messick (Sharon); one sister, Selene Yarbrough; many extended family members.

The family asks that due to COVID-19, everyone in attendance please wear a mask.

Jewel Mae Wiser Smartt

Mrs. Jewel Mae Wiser Smartt, age 87, of Hermitage,
TN, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020, in Nashville, TN after an
extended illness.

Mrs. Smartt was born in Coffee Co., TN, to her late parents William Alfred
Wiser and Penny Irene Charles Wiser. She worked for Bell South for many
years serving in many capacities, most recently in clerical work with the
dial bureau before her retirement. Mrs. Smartt was a member of the
Telephone Pioneers and loved sewing, crocheting and reading. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas
Smartt; son Michael Charles Smartt; brother, Herman Wiser; sisters, Frances
Huddleston, Wilma Lasiter, and Louise Peay.

Mrs. Smartt is survived by her daughters, Brenda Gale Black and Vicki
(Marshall) Lynne West; brothers, John (Emily) Clayton Wiser and Leighton
Wiser; sisters, Barbara Livesay; eight grandchildren, twelve great
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, from 12 noon
until 2:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services
will be conducted following visitation at 2:00pm with Bro. Danny Anderson
officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Presbyterian Cemetery in
Hillsboro, TN.
