Coffee County Searching For New AD

In a meeting with all coaches at Coffee County High School on Tuesday morning Athletic Director Paul Parsley announced his resignation. Parsley who is finishing his first year as AD will continue on with the school as he has for the past 14 years. Parsley said he wanted to spend more time with his wife and be more involved with his church. Parsley’s last day as AD will be May 26. The Raider athletic program for the second year in a row will start the search for the head of its programs.

Titans Caravan Coming To Manchester And 2012 Schedule Is Announced

The Tennessee Titans have announced the complete itinerary for the 14th Titans Caravan, a regional series of school visits and free, public autograph signings. Titans Caravan, sponsored by Grange Insurance, will make 50 total stops in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama from April 30th through May 11th. The Titans will be in Manchester, 9:30 a.m. May 7th at College Street Elementary School. The event will feature former Titans Blaine Bishop and Frank Wycheck. This will be a non-public event.

4/20/12 — George Leroy Huey

George Leroy Huey, of Lynchburg, passed this life Tuesday, April 17th at Lynchburg Nursing Center at the age of 75.

Mr. Huey was born in DuBois, PA.

He worked as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company and was of the Baptist faith. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Huey loved to race cars, pull tractors and work on lawn mowers.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Huey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19th from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 20th, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville, TN.

Kilgore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

4/18/12 — David Windell Kiningham

David Windell Kiningham, age 72 of Cowan passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Southern TN Medical Center.

He was born Aug 17, 1939 to the late Herman Cowan Kiningham and Nola Bea Williams Kiningham.

He was the business manager for Russell Barnett Chrysler Dodge dealership and was a member of Cowan First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by  two brothers, Thomas Cowan Kiningham and John Allen Kiningham.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Guyear Kiningham; daughters,  Dr. Kinsley Kelley Kiningham of Nashville and Lisa Kiningham Jernigan of Cowan; stepdaughter, Crystal Stovall (Erik) Pearson of Cowan; stepson, Major James Gordon (Crystal) Stovall of Navarre, FL; brother, James Nolan Kiningham and wife, Ethel Knoer Kiningham of Cowan; grandchildren, Emily Jernigan, Ryan Jernigan, Andrew Pearson, James Pearson and Malia Stovall; sisters-in-law, Sue Hoots Kiningham and Mary Merle Kiningham, both of Cowan; nieces, Lynda Kiningham Fernander and Tammy Kiningham Sullivan; great nephews,  Jon Fernander, Matthew Sullivan and Jamie Sullivan.

Visitation is 5-8 PM Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Tim Brown and Rev. Harry Green officiating.

Interment at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.

Coffee County Wins Big

Coffee County hosted Shelbyville Monday night in softball and improved to 18-7 on the year with 12-3 win.
Niki Campbell playing under the weather came up big for the Lady Raiders with 2 doubles and a single with 2 runs scored and knocking in 5. Campbell earned the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game.
Anna Spellings added a solo homer and scored twice, Taylor Gullett had 3 hits and Juli Layne had 3 hits and scored 3 times.
Bricen Hunt pitched all 7 innings for the win.
Coffee County will be at home again tonight hosting Cookeville in District 6-AAA play starting at 7pm and you’ll hear it live on Thunder Radio and www.wmsrradio.com

4/21/12 — Betty J. Tipton

Betty  J.Tipton, age 75 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on April 13, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Winchester, TN.

She was a retired Pastor; a former member of the Tried Stone Evangelistic Temple; and past president of Michigan Aglow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Allen and Cynthia Jones Allen; brothers, Harold Allen and Earl Allen; and son, Randall Allen Noe.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lee R. Tipton of Manchester, TN; children, Francene Posey and her husband Roger of Estill Springs, TN,  Teresa Romanoff and her husband Alec of Franklin, TN  and Billie DeWitt and her husband Jeffrey of Grand Blanc, MI; sisters, Lorene Maxwell, Blanche Posey and Hellen Bumgartner; brothers, John Allen, Paul Childers, B.C. Allen and Gary Allen; ten grandchildren, Rebbecca Noe, Rachel Noe, Andrea Noe, Ryan Noe, Craig Morea, Lisa Duby, Cory DeWitt, Jill Johnson, Brittany Maddox and Mandilyn Maddox; ten great-grandchildren, Samuel Morea, Cole Morea, Erica DeWitt, Emilee DeWitt, Eryn Johnson and Evan Johnson, Samantha Duby, Analise Duby, Abigail Duby and Trinity Duby; daughter-in-law, Patricia Noe; and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Canvas Community Church at 1886 McArthur St., Manchester, TN 37355.
