7/6/12 — Robert C. Thomas
Mr. Robert C. Thomas age 85 of Monteagle passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Golden Living Center in Winchester.
He was a retired carpenter, having built many homes on the mountain with his brother, David. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran and was an avid outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teddy Thomas; son, Robert “Bobby” Thomas; daughter, Johnnie Lee Maxwell.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Thomas; grandchildren, Stephanie Kopek, Christopher Kopek, Phillip and Eric Lewis; brothers, Carlton Thomas and David Thomas both of Monteagle; sister, Charlene Lowrie, Monteagle.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with his nephew, Reverend Charles David Thomas and Claude Hoback officiating.
Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends Thursday 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, TN.
7/4/12 — Jeffery “Jeff” Burks
Jeffery “Jeff” Burks age 43, of Huntland passed away July 2, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Burks was the owner and operator of American Detail. He loved spending time outdoors hiking and being in the country. Mr. Burks was an avid NASCAR fan. He will be remembered by his family and a good and loving, husband, son, brother and uncle.
Mr. Burks is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Burks.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Partin Burks of Huntland; mother, Dot Hart of Winchester; sister, Angela Cooley of Winchester; niece, Madyson Damron of Winchester; nephew, Tristan Cooley of Winchester.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 11:00am with Bro. John Partin and Bro. L.Z. Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Rodney Davis, Keith Davis, Brace Williams, Robert Sullivan, Robert Hutto and Mike Partin serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 5-9pm from Watson-North Funeral Home.

Celebrating America’s Birthday
The Independence Day celebration will be held Wednesday in Manchester. Music will begin in Rotary Park at the Rotary Amphitheatre at 6 p.m. with Chancy Willis, Charlie Allen and Tony Stampley performing live. The fireworks show will begin at 9pm. The event is free, but food and drink vendors will be set up throughout the park if you get thirsty or hungry.

7/6/12 — Jerry Wayne Riddle
Jerry Wayne Riddle, age 67 of Huntland, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Elora, Tennessee. He was born January 14, 1945 in Tullahoma; the son of the late Clifford and Roberta (Hodge) Riddle. He worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Highway Department and served his country in the US Army in Vietnam. Surviving are sons, Justin (Amanda Gifford) Riddle of Huntland, TN, Clint Riddle of Huntland, TN and Clifford Riddle of Springfield, MO, daughter, Heather Braun of Willard, MO, brother, John Riddle of Louisville, KY, sister, Sheila Riddle of Phoenix, AZ; and grandchildren, Ben Braun, Amber Thomason, Alex Riddle and Robert Dudley. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 323 Neal St., Huntland. Arrangement by Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave. NW, Winchester. |
