Coffee Middle Football Routs Harris on Wednesday Night

The Coffee County Middle School football team welcomed Harris Middle School to Carden-Jarrell Field on Wednesday night. The Red Raiders took advantage of 3 first half turnovers by Harris to build a 17 to 0 halftime lead on their way to a 36 to 6 win.
Coffee Middle enjoyed great field position all night as they started every drive in Harris territory. Red Raider fullback Blayne Myers led the Raider attack with 4 touchdowns on the night, 2 in each half. Jackson Shemwell added the 5th Coffee Middle touchdown on a 6 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter. Ethan Hargrove had a field goal and 2 extra point kicks as well as pinning Harris deep all night long on kickoffs and punts.
Cole Pippenger led the Red Raiders in rushing with 41 yards on 7 carries. Myers ended up with 36 yards on 7 carries. Pippenger was also the leading receiver as he caught 2 passes for 17 yards.
The Raiders are back at home on Tuesday when they welcome South Franklin for Homecoming. Kick-off is set for 6:30 PM.
CHS Golf Hosts Golden Classic on Wednesday
The Coffee County CHS golf team welcomed 12 teams to Willowbrook for the annual Golden Classic on Wednesday. Fielding one of the strongest fields in the state of Tennessee, the Raider linksters hosted teams from all corners of the Volunteer State.
In boys’ action, Signal Mountain won the tournament with a score of 283. Cookeville grabbed 2nd place with a team score of 309 and Oakland finished in 3rd place with a score of 317. Coffee County posted a team score of 358.
In girls’ play, Cleveland walked away with the title with a score of 163 edging 2nd place Tullahoma by 3 strokes. Milan finished in 3rd place with a round of 173. Coffee County ended the round with a score of 298.
The Raider linksters return to the links on Tuesday when they travel to McMinnville to compete in the Keith Maxwell Invitational at McMinnville Country Club. That tournament will tee off at 9 AM.
Westwood Volleyball Falls to Warren County on Wednesday

Returning to the court for the first time in 2 weeks, the Westwood volleyball team played host to Warren County on Wednesday night. Despite improved communication from Westwood, the more experienced Lady Pioneers grabbed a 2 set win. Warren County won by set scores of 13-25 and 18-25.
“(The) girls talked to each other on the court and played well, we just were not getting our serves in” said Lady Rocket coach Kinda Baxter. She called out the play of Rylee Clark and Allie Sullivan in the varsity match.
The junior varsity fought hard but fell in straight sets too. Westwood fell by set scores of 17-25 and 12-25. “JV did better than they ever have” said Baxter. She went on to say “they called the ball and played their positions well.” Baxter highlighted the play of Kaidence Medley and Maddy Carter.
The Lady Rockets will be back at home on Friday afternoon as they welcome South Franklin to the Joel Vinson Gym. First serve is set for 4:30 PM.
Sounds Begin Final Homestand of the 2019 Season on Friday
The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club returns to First Tennessee Park on Friday, August 30 to begin their final homestand of the 2019 season. The Sounds welcome the San Antonio Missions for four games from August 30-September 2.

Friday, August 30 vs. San Antonio – 7:05 p.m.
– Gates open at 5:35 p.m.
– 2020 Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by FOX 17 News to the first 4,000 fans.
– Faith and Family Worship Night presented by Trevecca University – Join the Sounds for a night of worship and baseball at First Tennessee Park. Trevecca’s Awaken performs a pre-game concert near the Family Fun Zone with worship set to begin at 6:00. Fans attending Faith and Family Worship Night can receive a $2 ticket discount by ordering tickets online.
– Memphis Grizzlies Regional Caravan Tour stop at First Tennessee Park featuring 2019 second overall pick Ja Morant and the Grizz Entertainment Squad. Morant will sign autographs from 6:45 to 7:30, or the end of the first inning.
– FOX 17 News postgame fireworks presented by Koorsen Fire & Security.
Saturday, August 31 vs. San Antonio – 7:05 p.m.
– Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
– University of Tennessee Visor Giveaway presented by First Tennessee to the first 2,000 fans.

8/30/19 — James Marshall Bradford
Funeral services for Mr. James Marshall Bradford, age 64, of Manchester, TN, will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Manchester Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Cutshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Blanton’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Bradford passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in Manchester, TN.
Marshall was born in Winchester, TN, the son of the late Jessie and Rachel Hill Bradford. He was a press operator at Batesville Casket Company and enjoyed fishing, gardening, mowing, grilling, hunting, being outdoors, and loved TN Vols. Marshall never met a stranger, and was a great father, brother-in-law, and loving husband.
In addition to his parents, Marshall was also preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Bradford and one sister, Judy Ridner. He is survived by one son, James (Susan) Bradford, II; one daughter, Brittney Bradford; one sister, Sandra Burks; two grandchildren, William and Mackenzie Bradford; his significant other, Terri Fields; father-in-law, F.M. King; brother-in-law, Joseph (Donna) King; sisters-in-law, Reina (Bobby) Shanks and Karen (Rob) Parke, Loretta (Brian) Murdock, and Robin (Larry) Miller.

Daniel Cyle Reed
Cyle was born April 23, 1989 in Tullahoma, TN.
He died unexpectedly on Saturday August 24, 2019 in Cannon County, TN.
He was the light of so many lives. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in a time of need. Cyle is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Coy and Kay Parker.
Cyle was his Papa’s shadow. As soon as he could walk, he was following him to the outdoors. Papa’s truck didn’t leave the house unless Cyle was right beside him. The family farm was their place to be the best of themselves. If it was taking care of cattle or four wheeling in the mud. They were the best together.
Cyle will be laid to rest in at Blanton’s Chapel Cemetery near his Papa.
Cyle is survived by his wife Page Ragan Reed. His children, Calab, Grayson, Rebekah and Parker.
His devotion and love for his family was the most important thing to him. His unconditional love was ever present for his wife and children.

Cyles love of the outdoors lead to his chosen career. He could drive anything from a horse to the biggest piece of heavy equipment. That brought him to becoming a Logger. He found his peace in the woods doing what he loved.
He will be remembered for kindness, his big heart and his way of making everyone smile. He saw the world through eyes of hope and to leave it a better place for his children. We can all learn from his way to look at a person and see past their appearance, wealth or status. He treated everyone with the same respect and kindness.

8/28/19–James Jacobs Mason
James Jacobs Mason, 93, of Beechgrove, TN, passed away on Sunday August 25, 2019. He was born in Beechgrove, Coffee County, TN to the late Marie Louise Glaus Mason and Paul Gannaway (Laura Huff) Mason, Sr. Mr. Mason was also preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Louise Mason, Sherrill (Alfred) Fischer, and Jean Bryant; brothers, Paul Gannaway (Betty) Mason, Jr., Dr. Franklin Curtis (Peggy) Mason, Sr. and a grandson, Michael Dewayne Trail.
Mr. Mason owned and operated a Tennessee Century farm which had been in continuous operation for over 100 years. He farmed 60 years before his retirement. Mr. Mason also drove a school bus for the Coffee County School system for 22 years. He was a member of the Coffee County Agriculture Committee. He was elected to the second and third districts of Coffee County Court, Noah and Beechgrove. Mr. Mason served on the first Ambulatory Authority for Coffee County and as a member of the Duck River Electric Membership Corp. Credentials Committee. He was a member of the church of Christ at Beechgrove where he had served as an Elder. He was a member of the Stones River Sons of the American Revolution Chapter. Mr. Mason served in the U.S. Air Corps during WW II. He was an honorary member of the University of Tennessee Extension Homemakers. Mr. Mason was a Charter Member of the First Families of Tennessee as a direct descendant of Mathias Hoover who settled Hoovers Gap in 1796. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0088 at Donelson.
Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of 73 years, Emma Doris Manley Mason; daughter, Nancy (Dewayne) Trail; brother, Sewell Johnson (Mary Patricia) Mason; sister, Eleanor (Kenneth) Moore; grandchildren, John Ashley (Stacey Swack) Trail, and Emily (Raymond) Daniel, Jr.; great-grandchild, Mason Cooper Trail; step-great grandchild, Dathan Swack; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Charles Williams and Bro. Darrell Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the New Beechgrove Cemetery with John Ashley Trail, Raymond Daniel, Jr., James Fletcher, Doyle Trail, Mike England, Eddie Glaus, Paul Fischer, Mason Cooper Trail, and Dathan Swack serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be; J. Franklin Hollis, James Walker, Jimmy Wright, Cliff Ashley III, Jimmy Bush, Stephen Fischer, Donnie Murray, Richard Brown, Terry Spence, and men of the church of Christ at Beechgrove.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Mr. Mason’s caregivers and Alive Hospice for many acts of kindness and love. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Parkview Meadows Assisted Living Library, 240 E. MTCS Rd. Murfreesboro, TN. 37129.
