Despite Great Effort “Pot” Stays In Tullahoma
After trailing by 14 in the 1st quarter Coffee County came roaring back in the 87 annual Coffee Pot game at Tullahoma Friday night.
Things started off badly with Wildcat Trey Burks went 79 yards on a punt return at the 7:27 mark in the first quarter. Later in the first Tullahoma’s Zane Price gave the Wildcats their second score of the night as he reeled in a 9-yard pass from quarterback Justin Brown with 57 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Raiders would not die as they cut the deficit to 14-7 on their next possession as Peyton Meeker connected with Chris Vaughn on a 23-yard touchdown strike with 10:58 in the second quarter. Red Raider Justin Smith tied the game as he picked off a Justin Brown pass and went 70 yards, tying the game at 14-14 with 8:06 remaining until the half.
Tullahoma would come back and kick a field-goal for a 17-14 lead.
Deangelo Rozier who had 162 yards on the night galloped 68 yards with 4:09 left in the half for a 21-17 lead into the half. Rozier was named the Gateway Tire and Service Player of the Game.
The Wildcats would come out in the 2nd half and shut down the Raiders and get 2 more touchdowns from Trey Burks and go onto win for the 56th time in the history of the rivalry, 31-21.
Coffee County will see their first District 6-AAA action of the year this Friday night as White County will be in Manchester.
9/11/12 — Betty Ruth Harris Baxter
Mrs. Betty Ruth Harris Baxter, age 70, of Tullahoma, passed away Saturday at Harton Regional Medical Center.
She is a native of Coffee County and is the daughter of the late John and Ethel Rollan Spry.
Mrs. Baxter was retired from Don Ray Casuals.
She is survived by four daughters, Gail Evans of Winchester, Samantha (Kent) Walden of Tullahoma, Betty Jean Ferrell and her boyfriend David Phillips of Estill Springs, Melinda Ann Dudley of Grand Prairie, TX, two sons, Bobby (Karen) Harris of Shelbyville, Archie Wayne Harris of Winchester, 11 Grandchildren and 15 Great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

9/10/12 — Billy Joe Manley
Billy Joe Manley, age 80 of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Harton Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 23, 1932 in Decatur, Alabama.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Surviving are daughters Dianna Manley of Madison, TN and Beverly Wells of Tullahoma, TN; sons Michael Manley of Madisonville, TN and David Manley of Lewisburg, TN; sister Edna Bailey of Pennsylvania; brothers Russell Manley of Dallas, TX, Al Manley of Sewanee, TN, Dennis Manley of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel.
Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave.NW, Winchester.
9/10/12 — George Lurton Morris
George Lurton Morris of Tullahoma passed this life on Friday, September 7th, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma at the age of 82.
Mr. Morris previously worked for the Tullahoma Fire Dept. as a Fire Inspector.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 10th, 2012 at 2:00pm at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Baylon Hilliard officiating.

Mrs. Ruby Rippy 65, of Shelbyville passed September 6, 2012 at Heritage Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Mack Rippy, Sr of Shelbyville, TN.
Two children, daughter, Renee Brown and Son, Mack (Carrie) Rippy, Jr both of Shelbyville, TN; adopted son, Markell (Georgette) Henderson of Shelbyville, TN.
Eight Grandchildren and Five adopted grandchildren.
Three sisters, Mary Frances Henderson, Lucy (Robert) Christmon and Laura Marsh.
One Brother– Wilbert Jones
Devoted Friend– Mrs. Emma Jean Lentz
Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

9/3/12 — Ester Sherrill
Ester Sherrill age 88 of Winchester, passed away September 3, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Winchester.
Ms. Sherrill was an avid country music listener, spent many hours quilting quilts for others and attended Warrens Chapel Nazarene Church before her health failed her.
Ms. Sherrill is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hayden Sherrill; son, Hayden Wayne Sherrill and cousin, Charles Hill.
She is survived by her dear friend, Andrew Mook of Columbia; sisters, Molly McClamma of Hillsboro and Georgia Beavers of Decherd; nephew, James Scott of Belvidere; cousin, Buddy Hill of Greenhaw, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ms. Sherrill was laid to rest to next to her husband in Mt. Garner Cemetery.

9/9/12 –Richard Hall Burbage
Richard Hall Burbage, age 59 of Winchester, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester.
He was born December 21, 1952 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Mr. Burbage worked for the US Post Office.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Byrd Burbage and brother, Joseph Burbage.
Surviving is his mother, Christine Hall Burbage of Winchester, TN.
A Funeral service will be at 1:30 PM on Sunday in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Rick Roberts and Rev. Darrell Williams officiating.
Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester, TN.

9/9/12 — Rosalee Sanders Pruitt
ROSALEE SANDERS PRUITT, age 82, of Tullahoma, departed this life on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness.
She attended the First Church of Jesus Christ in Winchester Springs. Ms. Pruitt was a homemaker. She was a loving and devoted mother, and grandmother. She loved flowers and her little dog “peanut”.
Ms. Pruitt was preceded in death by her husband, Willie A. Pruitt and son, Garland Pruitt.
She is survived by her daughters; Linda (James “Sonny”) Prince, Connie (Bobby) Clark, all of Tullahoma, Patricia Bell of Estill Springs, Wilma (Steve) Morris of Manchester. Sons; Jimmy (Mary) Pruitt of Tullahoma, Raybon (Tina) Pruitt of Winchester, William (Mary Lou) Pruitt of McMinnville and Donald Pruitt of Tullahoma, 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ms. Pruitt is scheduled for 4:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday evening in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services.
Services for Ms. Pruitt will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday evening with Bro. John Partin officiating.
Interment will follow in Owens Chapel Cemetery.
