Haslam Puts Local People On State Boards

Gov. Bill Haslam

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam announced the appointments of 152 Tennesseans to 58 state boards and commissions Friday.
Appointment terms vary due to differing requirements or term limits determined by specific qualifications.
Local appointments are:

Keep Tennessee Beautiful Advisory Council
Sandra Ennis, Tullahoma

Statewide Independent Living Council
Cynthia Martin, Tullahoma

Raiders Win Over Hume-Fogg

Lance Crismond makes a move for two

Coffee Co. boys picked up a win in basketball on Friday as they defeated Hume-Fogg 44-40 in the Central Magnet Classic in Murfreesboro. The brother combination of Lance and Lucas Crismond scored 15 each. Head Coach Scott Givins who got the win over his brother in the game said he was proud of the boys for effort in the win. He said Addison Carter, Lake Elam and Anthony Jackson played big in the win.
Coffee County (5-9) in boys play and (6-9) in girls on the season plays its first district game Friday at Warren County.

Butler Beats Vandy In Basketball

18th-ranked Butler Bulldogs shook off a sluggish start and routed Vanderbilt 68-49 Saturday night for their seventh straight victory.
Kyle Fuller led Vanderbilt with 10 points. Kedren Johnson finished with nine, well below his average of 17.8 points and didn’t score until nearly three minutes into the second half.
Vandy will host William & Mary Wednesday night at 7pm.

Tennessee Wins Final Game Of The Year

Tennessee became the first team in NFL history with two players scoring twice on returns in a game as the Titans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 38-20 Sunday in their season finale.
Darius Reynaud scored on two punt returns and rookie linebacker Zach Brown returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
The Titans (6-10) finished by winning two of their final three games, which may be enough for owner Bud Adams to keep coach Mike Munchak with two years left on his contract.

1/1/13 — Roy William Allison

Roy William  Allison, age 87 of Manchester,  Tennessee, entered his Eternal Home on December 28, 2012.
Mr. Allison was very  proud of being a farmer and loved his John Deere tractors. He was a row crop  farmer, dairy farmer and raised chickens for Tyson, Inc. Farming was his  full-time job, however, he also worked at Arnold Engineering Development Center  (AEDC) with A.R.O., sold livestock feed for Martha White Feeds and drove a  school bus for the Coffee County School System until he retired at age 71.
He  was preceded in death by his parents, the late Cyrus David Allison and Hattie  Reed Allison; sisters, Ruby Allison and Hazel Allison Haggard; brother, Harley  B. Allison and great-granddaughter, Esther Isabella “Bella” Allison.
Mr. Allison  was a lifetime member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where he was the  song leader for over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emma Imogene  Wells Allison of Manchester, TN; son, William Herschel Allison of Manchester,  TN; daughters, Cleta Allison Jenkins and her husband Roger of Decatur, AL   and Jelinda Allison Rose and her husband Wayne of Manchester, TN; sister, Thelma  Jean Allison Chisam of Hillsboro, TN; five grandchildren, William Jeremy Allison  (Michelle), Angela Jenkins Dorris (Jason), Joshua Allison, Amanda Jenkins and  Julie Allison; four great-grandchildren, McKenzie Allison, Olivia Dorris,  Audrenia Dorris and Ashton Allison who is “on the way”; and a host of other  relatives and friends.
Visitation was on Monday, December 31, 2012 from 5:00  p.m.  until  8:00 p.m.
The Funeral Service was conducted on Tuesday  morning, January 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home  with Pastor Ben Day and Reverend Beth Ezelle officiating.
Burial followed at the  Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.

12/31/12 — Michael J. Bossard

Mr. Michael J. Bossard, age 58, of Tullahoma, passed away Friday at Life Care Center of Tullahoma.

He was a native of Titusville, PA.

Mr. Bossard attended Rutledge Falls Baptist Church, was a Client of Skills Development in Tullahoma and participated in Special Olympics.

The family request that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

He is survived by his parents, Jack and Marilyn Bossard of Estill Springs.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Kay Bossard.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, from 3:00PM until 6:00PM at the Tullahoma Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Willis-Arnold Funeral Home in Townville, PA with burial in the Kingsley Cemetery.

Tullahoma Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

1/2/13 — Shirley Jean Marable Shaw

Mrs. Shirley Jean Marable Shaw of Decherd, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center.  She was 73.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Meredith Shaw; granddaughter, Melissa Marie Shaw; brother, Douglas Marable; sister, Mary Virginia Marable.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Rene Shaw Parks; sons, William Walter Shaw, Jeffrey Milton Shaw, and Wesley Shaw; sisters, Barbara Shrum and Louise Phillips; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Cowan-Montgomery Cemetery in Cowan, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

1/3/13/— Tony “Yayo” Platt

Tony “Yayo” Platt of Tullahoma passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.  He was 26.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alfred Platt; grandmother, Dorothy Mae Platt; and aunt, Lillian Platt.

He is survived by his fiancé, Stephanie Pace; children, Kyra Platt and Tony Platt, Jr.; mother, Lisa Platt; siblings, Victoria Platt, Chanell Platt, Krystal Platt, Kevinsha Platt, and Joshua Platt; grandmother, Delores Anderson; mother-in-law, Lori Gray; father-in-law, Danny Pace.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10 A.M. at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 4-5:30 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.

12/31/12 — JAMES “BUD” CLIFFORD GRIFFITH

JAMES “BUD” CLIFFORD GRIFFITH, age 69, of Decherd, Tenn.  departed this life suddenly on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester.

Mr. Griffith was retired after working for almost 50 years as a heavy equipment welder. He was an avid Nascar fan and Chicago Bears Football fan.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Griffith, daughter, Gail Peterson and grandson, Jamie Griffith.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Sue Griffith of Decherd, son, Jimmy (Sue) Griffith of Tullahoma, daughters; Debbie “L.D. Thompson and husband J.T. of Winchester, Sharon Fier of Blue Island, IL, step-sons; Richard (Kevin) Ashley of Joliet, IL, William (Jean) Ashley of Hendersonville, Tenn., step-daughter, Kathy (Ed) Jillson of Bridgeview, IL, 15-grandchildren and 3-great-grandchildren and his pet shihztu, Sassy.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Decherd Nazarene Church.
