All Star Sports Health and Fitness Festival Is May 10 In Manchester
All Star Sports is hosting the first annual All Star Sports Health and Fitness Festival Saturday, May 10 at the Coffee County Fairgrounds. The Festival will feature various amateur competitions for both individuals and teams. The festival will kick-off with a one-mile run at 9 a.m. which is open to all ages. Team competitions will include flag football with five people per-team, soccer with four to a team and basketball, which will be three-man teams. Some of the individual competitions include punt pass kick, bench press, one-on-one soccer, wiffle ball homerun derby and more. Several clinics will also be offered the day of the festival including speed/agility, football, soccer, cheerleading and more. Special guests will include New Red Raider Coach Sulkowski and the Coffee County Red Raider football team, The Raiderette Dance Team, Manchester Fire & Rescue, The Get Fit Club, and more. Competitors in the pageant will be choosing their best “sports” outfit to compete in. Price of admission is $5 and tickets are available online at www.allstarsportsfest.com or at the door. The tournaments, 1 mile run, and Miss All Star Pageant require pre-registration and the entry forms can be found on the event website.

Mr. James W. Burks, age 81 of Belleville, Michigan passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 2 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Kimbro-Troxler Cemetery in Bedford County.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, May 3, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Daves-Culbertson.

Funeral services for Raymond W. Hodge, age 86, of Tullahoma will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim McGehee and Bro. Jeremy Rhoton officiating.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM Friday evening at Tullahoma funeral Home.
Mr. Hodge was born in Giles Co., TN to the late John and Sarah E. Stephens Hodge. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a son, David Hodge and several brothers and sisters.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Hodge also was a self employed contractor and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hodge, daughter and son in law, Mary Ann and Mark Hawk, sisters Eunice Norris, Sarah Wilds, Willadene Howland, 2 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
5/3/14 —- Wilma Dean McMasters
Mrs. Wilma Dean McMasters, age 81, of Estill Springs, TN, passed away Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014, at her residence.
She was born in Manchester, TN., and was the daughter of the late Matt and Maude Walden Jones.
She was a homemaker and a member of Turkey Creek Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Hardy McMasters, one son Jeff (Alma) McMasters of Estill Springs, two daughters Beverly (William Michael) Blankenship of Normandy and Peggy Russell of Tullahoma, two sisters Ruby Shelton and Jean Spry, one brother Bill Jones, all of Manchester, two granddaughters Michelle (Justin) Schafer of Meridianville, AL., and Valerie Russell of Tullahoma, three grandsons William David Blankenship of Normandy, Joshua Jordan of Nashville, Alex McMasters of Estill Springs, great grandchildren Bryce and Natalie Schafer of Meridianville, AL., and Bryson Jordan of Tullahoma.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 PM Saturday in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Fields officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, TN.

5/4/14 —- Ruth “Mama” Grimes
Ruth “Mama” Grimes, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at NHC Tullahoma at the age of 84.
Mama Grimes was born in Winchester, Tennessee to the late Robert Lee and Lillian McNatt Abbott.
She was a former employee of South Central Bell as an operator and assignment clerk where she retired after working for 35 years. She was a 30 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary, a 45 year member of the Telephone Pioneers and was also a member of the former Lincoln Heights Baptist Church in Tullahoma. Mama Grimes never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone who was ever in need, and you never walked into her home without being offered something to eat and drink.
In addition to her parents, Mama Grimes is preceded in death by her husband, Howard P. Grimes; companion, Hulon Metcalfe; brother, Bob Abbott; and daughter-in-law, Dona Grimes.
She is survived by three sons, Robert “Bubba” Grimes and his wife Mary of Estill Springs, Wayne Grimes of Murfreesboro, and Layne Grimes and his wife Debbie of Shelbyville; one sister, Mabel Tucker of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Scott Grimes and his wife Sherry, Chad Grimes and his wife Stephanie, Emily Grimes and Annie Abbott Grimes; and eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Lindsay, McKenzie, Austin, Andrew, Knox, Anders and Houston.
Visitation for Mama Grimes will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kilgore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Young officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. James Timothy Byrd, age 50 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Medical Center of Manchester.
No services are scheduled.
Mr. Byrd, a native of Jacksonville, FL was the son of the late Kenneth and Jeanette Arnett Byrd.
He was a contractor for the Florida Department of Transportation. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races.
He is survived by one brother, Robert McCumbers of Manchester and one sister, Patricia Nelson and her husband, Ricky of Manchester.
