Red Raiders Flag A Group lost 19-7 in a tough game to the Cannon County Lions on Saturday. Kyson Norris scored the Raiders lone touchdown with a 4 yard run and Tripp Trussler tacked on the XP.

B Group won a nail bitter 7-6 with Brodie Alijah scoring on a 2 yard run and Ethan Proctor scoring the XP.

Next week the flag team battles Watertown for Homecoming with a chance at the playoffs with a win.

AJ Whitman ran for over 200 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 extra points.
Audie Nicoll caused a fumble which was recovered by Gavin Smith. The Raiders only allowed the Lions 12 points and increased their record to 4-1.

Sr Division (10-12 year olds)
Cannon County demonstrated why they sit atop the Tri County standings handing the Raiders a lopsided 48-0 loss. The Raiders couldn’t get around the Lions massive line and couldn’t contain a very large very fast running back.

Manchester Red Raiders Too Elite for Marshall County Elite

The SMTYFA Teams traveled to Lewisburg, TN to face the Marshall County Elite.
Division 1(5-6-7 year olds)
Karson Wimley had a fumble recovery, two rushing touchdowns and 50 yard reception from Kayleb Morris. Davion Dycus added two and also had two fumble recoveries. Avery Hodges, Macc Chappin,Lawson Maychrzak, Brysen
Hall each added touchdowns with Nathan Bogart, Hayes Shemwell and Braxson Wilder all adding extra points. The Raiders defense held another opponent scoreless and the Raiders move to 7-0.

Levi Scott ran for three touchdowns. Treyvion Mathis ran for two more and also kicked a two point field goal to lead the Raiders past Marshall County and move to 6-1. Manchester 32 Marshall County 0

Division 3 (10-12 year olds)
Caiden Martin had 2 touchdown runs. Landen Abellana, Isaiah Robledo, Kaysen Lowery each with a touchdown and an an extra point. Lowery also threw a 2 point conversion pass to Tyler Martin. Jase Cashion added an extra point.
The Raiders defense matched the two younger teams by posting another shutout and keep their record perfect at 7-0.

MYFL will close out the 2019 regular season next Saturday October 19th with 6 games and Homecoming festivities at Carden-Jarrell field for both associations. TCYFL will be playing host to Watertown and SMTYFA will be hosting Liberty.
TCYFL games start at 10:00 am. SMTYFA games will start at the conclusion of the Tri County Sr Division game.

That’s not how the story is supposed to end.

Trailing 4-1 in the third period, the Nashville Predators seemed destined to pull off a herculean effort again, just two days after they’d done the very same thing in their previous game. Viktor Arvidsson, Matt Duchene and Colton Sissons scored to tie the game, 4-4, in the first nine minutes of the final frame, but the Los Angeles Kings found the game-winner in the final minute of regulation on Saturday in California.

Two empty-net goals for L.A. inflated the final score to 7-4, but Duchene didn’t shy away from calling the loss a “wake-up call” for the Preds. The loss drops the Predators’ record to 3-2-0 and starts their three-game road trip off on a frustrating note.

“It’s a disappointing loss for two reasons,” Duchene said. “One, I think we play 60 [minutes], we show what we can do, but we didn’t. Secondly, it’s impressive what we’re capable of doing when we need to, but… you have to score three goals in the third period to tie it and four to win, and we get the three and it should be going to overtime. They get one at the end there, and that was disappointing, because I felt like we at least deserved a point, but it’s a good wake-up call for us early in the season.”

“Third period, I thought we played hard, but the first two periods, I thought we were outworked,” Preds Head Coach Peter Laviolette said. “They were more on their toes and ready to go more than we were, and they grabbed the energy in their home opener and they took it to us for really two periods.”

Mikael Granlund gave the Preds a 1-0 lead when he went top shelf from a sharp angle less than five minutes into the opening frame, and Filip Forsberg assisted on the marker to give him points in all five games this season.

Michael Amadio and Anze Kopitar tallied for Los Angeles in the first period, and Kyle Clifford and Ilya Kovalchuk added two more in the second stanza.

“They were way better than us, plain and simple, for the first two periods, and we didn’t play well at all so for some reason,” Preds Captain Roman Josi said. “We just came out flat, and if it wasn’t for [goaltender Juuse Saros], it could’ve been a lot worse. We battled back, but we can’t dig ourselves a hole like that through two periods.”

The Predators got one back early in the third when Arvidsson took a feed from Ryan Johansen and slid the puck over the line while falling to the seat of his pants to make it 4-2. The assist also allowed Johansen to extend his point streak to five games.

Then, on the power play, Duchene got a bounce in front and also extended his point streak to five games, as he converted for his second goal in as many outings. The marker also gives the Predators a power-play goal in four straight games, a feat they did not accomplish at all last season.

Just 34 seconds after Duchene’s strike, Sissons redirected a Ryan Ellis shot past Jack Campbell to tie the game at 4-4, but with 59 seconds to play, Alex Iafallo put the winning goal past Saros.

The Kings put two more into an empty net before the final horn sounded in a game that left that Predators expressing disappointment in what could have been.

“You got to give [the Kings] a lot of credit,” Duchene said. “They did a lot of good things. They were the better team through 40 [minutes], they outplayed us, they pushed us around a little bit, but at the same time, if you’re going to shoot yourself in the foot, it’s better to do it at the start of the year and learn from it than do it at the end of the year. We’ve got to take the lessons from tonight. That one stings because when we tied it, we at least believed we were going to OT, and we like our team in OT. It’s disappointing.”

Saturday marked the 400th NHL game for Preds forwards Filip Forsberg and Calle Jarnkrok.

Rocco Grimaldi missed his second-straight game with a lower-body injury. Defenseman Dan Hamhuis re-entered the Nashville lineup on Saturday; Matt Irwin was the lone healthy scratch.

The Predators will continue their road trip in Nevada when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday before finishing up in Arizona against the Coyotes on Thursday.

A dreadful performance on offense produced a quarterback change, but not a victory – the Titans lost 16-0 to the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High.

The Titans replaced starting quarterback Marcus Mariota with back-up Ryan Tannehill in the third quarter of Sunday’s game. It was Tannehill’s first action since the Titans traded for the former Dolphins quarterback earlier this offseason.

Tannehill couldn’t engineer a comeback, however, as the Titans dropped to 2-4 on the season.

The Broncos led 6-0 at the half on a pair of field goals from kicker Brandon McManus, from 31 and 53 yards.

Meanwhile, the Titans struggled on offense. Mariota was sacked three times in the first half, and the team couldn’t get anything going.

The Broncos stretched their lead to 13-0 on a two-yard touchdown run by running back Phillip Lindsay, and another kick by McManus made it 16-0 with 4:53 left in the contest.

Titans safety Kevin Byard did his best to provide a spark early in the second half when he intercepted Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco on Denver’s first possession. Byard caught the ball after it bounced off the back of Denver tight end Noah Fant.

But the Titans couldn’t capitalize.

Mariota completed just 7-of-18 passes for 63 yards and two interceptions and a 9.5 rating before being replaced with 4:49 in the third quarter, with the Titans trailing 13-0.

Mariota threw his first interception of the season at the end of the first half, and he was intercepted again in the third quarter.

The Titans face the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

Fall may have arrived in the Music City, but Nashville Soccer Club rose to the occasion at Nissan Stadium on Saturday night as the Boys in Gold clinched a home match in the USL Championship Playoffs with a 2-0 win over North Carolina FC. Lebo Moloto was the magician again for Nashville SC with a goal and an assist in a Man of the Match performance.

Nashville SC now guarantees itself at least one playoff match in front of the home fans at First Tennessee Park in two weeks, the first home playoff match in club history. While Nashville won’t know it’s official seed and opponent in the playoffs until after the final weekend of the season, it is assured of at least a top two seed and two potential home playoff matches.

The opening goal of the night came from a corner kick off Moloto’s boot that found the head of forward Ropapa Mensah inside the six-yard box at the 32’ minute mark. It was Mensah’s seventh goal in all competitions this season and Moloto’s 10th assist, a team-high.

In the second half, it was Moloto’s turn to have a header find the net. Off a counter attack, winger Taylor Washington sent a perfect ball to the on-rushing Moloto who went back across goal to find side-netting for his fifth of the season.

The defense again showed why it’s the best in the USL Championship, earning its 15th clean sheet of the season while allowing just two shots on target in the 90 minutes from North Carolina. Nashville SC has also yet to allow a goal in its four matches at Nissan Stadium over the last two seasons.

Here are three takeaways from the victory.

1) Top Two in the East

Nashville SC’s win, coupled with a draw in the Indy Eleven and Tampa Bay Rowdies match, confirmed that Nashville would finish in a top two spot in the Eastern Conference and could still win the East with dropped points by Pittsburgh in its season finale. Everything will be at stake in next Saturday’s match at First Tennessee Park against Atlanta United 2 at 7 p.m. as Nashville can lay claim to the number one seed.

2) No Goals Allowed at Nissan

The defense for Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium has been pristine through the four matches the club has played at its future MLS home over the last two USL Championship seasons. Two 0-0 draws last season and two 2-0 wins this season have made Nissan a fortress for Nashville SC and its fans.

3) Pickens In Line for Gold

With a league-leading 13th clean sheet of the USL Championship season, Nashville SC keeper Matt Pickens extending his lead in the Golden Glove race with just one match in the season. Pickens’ goals against average now sits at 0.67 for the season with just 16 goals allowed in 24 matches. He leads Phoenix Rising’s Zac Lubin who has allowed 22 goals in 27 matches, but has yet to play tonight.

Up Next Nashville SC will play its final regular season match at First Tennessee Park next Saturday night against Atlanta United 2. NSC is 4-0-0 against Atlanta United 2 in club history, and could clinch the East’s number one seed with a win.

The Lady Raider soccer team of Coffee County CHS closed out the regular season on Thursday in Murfreesboro taking on Siegel.  After taking off 2 full weeks, the Lady Raiders were looking to shake some rust off going into next week’s district tournament.  The Lady Raiders could not get their offense on track as they dropped a 5 to 0 decision.
