11/29/14 —— Emma Howard

Mrs. Emma Howard, age 103, of Moore Co., passed away Wednesday at Donaldson Health Care in Fayetteville, TN.

She was born in Moore Co., TN to the late Bob and Nora Sons Cyree. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Howard, four children, H.B. Howard, Dorothy Painter, Adel Cyree, Edward Howard, two brothers, Robert Cyree, Fred Cyree, 2 sisters, Mattie Howard and Leann Howard. Mrs. Howard was a member of the Wilson Avenue Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sawyers will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Tullahoma Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery in Moore Co.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 till 8:00 PM Friday at Tullahoma Funeral Home.

She is survived by her children, Beatrice Painter, Hanley (Lisa) Howard, siblings, Walter D. Cyree, Geneva Bouton, Jewel Snyder, 18 grandchildren, 10 half grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

11/29/14 —– Anita Louise Robertson

Funeral services for Anita Louise Robertson, age 54, of Manchester, TN, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Alex Robertson officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM until time of services on Saturday.

Anita was born in Waco, TX, the daughter of Bobby (Florence) Polston of Texas and Anita (Dan) Norris of Iowa.

She graduated from Marlin High School in Marlin, TX in 1979. She was currently employed at M-Tek in Manchester. She was previously a corrections officer at the Texas State Penitentiary for 10 years and also a truck driver for 15 years. She enjoyed crafts, including knitting and sewing.

In addition to her parents, Anita is also survived by two sons, Dale (Kathryn) Robertson, of Manchester and Dustin (Brittany) Robertson of Nashville; former husband, Morris “Mo” Robertson, Jr. of Manchester; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Macie, Cooper, and Kaiden; sisters, Lisa, Angie, Sheila, Paula, Brenda, and Shirley; brothers, Eddie and Billy; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Anita’s memory to the Manchester Police Department Children’s Fund, 200 West Fort Street, Manchester, TN 37355.

11/29/14 —– Howard Bennett Lambert, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard Bennett Lambert, Jr., age 73, affectionately known as “Bubba” by his beloved family, will be conducted Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother Charles Williams officiating.

Interment will follow at Welker Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Lambert passed away Monday evening in Manchester.

Howard was born on September 30, 1941 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Howard Bennett Lambert, Sr., and Elizabeth Fly Lambert.

“Bubba” was raised in the Smyrna area where he eventually met his bride to be, Miss Thula Crouch, through a mutual friend (Clara Moore). Thula and Howard married on September 29, 1973. As a young man, he had a passion for race cars and race car driving. He displayed a strong work ethic every minute of every day in both his personal and professional life. Mr. Lambert had a dedicated career of 40 years with Batesville Casket Company, a position he retired from in 2013. At home, Bubba enjoyed farming, tending to his cattle, and caring for his beloved vegetable garden. Bubba could often be found on summer evenings on his back porch with his wife and family as they all enjoyed fresh vegetables and fruit from the garden. He enjoyed farm tractors, and he was most fond of his beloved Farmall and Massey Ferguson tractors. Howard valued service to others and often shared his plentiful garden harvest with friends and neighbors each year. Bubba always radiated caring acts or words of compassionate to others. Mr. Lambert’s wise and discerning spirit were often a comfort to others in need of a listening ear. He attended of the Lumley Stand Church of Christ.

Above all, Mr. Lambert adored his wife, family, and extended family beyond measure. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Glendal Ray Crouch; and a niece-in-law, Carrie Blair.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Thula Crouch Lambert of Manchester; one sister, Sue Blair Blanton of Smyrna, TN; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Crouch of Manchester. Also surviving are the following nieces and nephews; Carla Freeze and husband, Greg of Manchester; Kenneth Crouch and wife, Valorie of Manchester; Pam Blair of LaVergne, TN; Pat Parker and husband, Charles of LaVergne, TN; Virginia Haralson and husband, James of Smyrna; Wayne Blair of Smyrna, TN; Jimmy Blair and wife, Tere of LaVergne, TN; and Dennis Blair and wife, Angie of Smyrna, TN. In addition, he leaves behind 11 great-nieces, great-nephews, and 1 great-great niece who affectionately called him “Papa”.

Other survivors include long-time special family friend, Clara Moore Arnold, and her family members. In addition, his darling special girl- Lydia Lanier, and her family.

Coffee County Basketball Splits a Pair at Warren County

After falling in the 1st game of the season by 29 points to Warren County, the CHS Lady Raider felt like they had something to prove in McMinnville on Tuesday night.  Pairing nearly flawless offense with a tenacious defense was just the recipe for a Pre-Thanksgiving celebration for Coffee County as they stunned once-beaten Warren County 41 to 33.  After falling behind 5 to 0 early in the game, the Lady Raiders at 8 to 7 at the 3:28 mark of the first quarter and never trailed again.  Warren County cut the deficit to 5 in the 4th quarter but eight 4th quarter points from Tyger Fenton and 4 offensive rebounds from Cameron Davis sealed the revenge win.  Fenton led Coffee Coutny with 12 points on the night as Davis and Hollie Smithson dropped 9 points for the Lady Raiders.  Smithson, with her sparkling defense on the night was named the Gateway Tire and Service Center Co-Player of the Game with Cameron Davis.  With the win, Coffee County evened their record at 3 & 3.  The Lady Raiders will be off until Tuesday, December 2nd when they open District 8AAA play in Lawrence County.

In keeping the revenge theme alive, Warren County’s Pioneers avenged a 2 point loss from November 13 dropping the Red Raiders by a final score of  54 to 35.  Turnovers and missed shots plagued any offensive flow for Coffee County as the red and black committed 27 turnovers in the game with 16 coming in the 2nd half.  Coffee County was led in scoring by Peyton Talley who had 11 points, while Tyrese McGee scored 6 points off the bench to earn the Gateway Tire and Service Center Player of the Game honors.  The loss dropped the Raiders record to 2 and 4 on the season.  The Raiders will take part in the State Farm Classic this week-end at Woodbury.  The Red Raiders will take on Smith County on Friday morning at 9:30 AM at Cannon County High School.  They will follow that up with a 3:30 game on Saturday against Cookeville.

Manchester Man Killed In Monday Accident

Just after 5pm Monday afternoon 73 year-old Howard B Lambert, Jr of Manchester, TN was driving his 2004 Buick north bound on the Old Woodbury Highway in Coffee County just behind the new middle school. According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrolman Donnie Clark, for an unknown reason, Lambert apparently veered off the right side of the road way and struck a utility pole at which time the vehicle came to rest.

Along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department and Coffee County EMS responded to the accident scene.

Area Man Arrested On Robbery Charges

A Winchester resident has been charged with aggravated armed robbery in Tullahoma and faces similar charges in Winchester.
Courtney Lamont Somerville, 30, of Eighth Avenue Winchester was arrested Saturday by Winchester Police. Tullahoma Investigator Rana Pawlowski then served him with the arrest warrants from Coffee County. Somerville was arrested by Winchester Police on the Tullahoma charges.
He is accused of robbing the United Food and Gas of Tullahoma on East Carroll Street on Oct. 12.
According to a store clerk, the robber entered the store wearing a black hoodie, a full face back mask and medical gloves. After entering he jumped over the counter and pulled a black gun and held it to the back of the clerk’s head. He then grabbed her arm and pushed her into the cash register and demanded she give him the money. He then grabbed a pack of cigarettes and jumped the counter and left.
According to a warrant obtain by Pawlowski, DNA, video and audio evidence were collected by investigators that allegedly linked Somerville to the robbery.
Police are still investigating the robbery of a second convenience store and the East Carroll Liquor Store.
Somerville was charged with possession of a quantity of marijuana by Winchester Police. He faces the Franklin County Grand Jury on 3 robbery charges there.
According to authorities, Somerville has several robbery convictions out of west Tennessee.
He is being held the Coffee County Jail on $250,000 bond.
