9/19/15 — Tilford J.C. Holland
Mr. Tilford J.C. Holland age 95 passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist, Tullahoma, Tennessee with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Holland a native of Tullahoma was the son of the late John and Mary
Eaesly Holland. Mr. Holland served in the U.S. Army, he was a truck driver
for Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma. He enjoyed watching sports on TV,
doing lawn work, cooking and taking care of his family. Mr. Holland was a
member of Stephens Chapel United Methodist Church in Manchester, TN.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Olivia Holland; one son Ronald Holland and wife Alma of Manchester; three grandchildren, Reginald McReynolds of Decker, Shawn Dartis of Manchester, Seandra Dartis McCullough of Portland, TN.
Man Wanted By Police In Florida Found In Manchester
Manchester Police also allegedly found Cooper to be in possession of three orange tablets believed to be valium.
Cody Alyn Cooper was charged by Officer Ernie Colvin for being a fugitive from justice and possession of a schedule IV drug. Bond was set at $252,500 and his court date was set for December 12.
Man On TBI’s Most Wanted Arrested–Police Say The Man’s Mother Was Found Murdered On Monday
Michael Domonic Sales, 29, was arrested without incident on Dover Street on Sunday.
According to the TBI, Sales was wanted in connection of the shooting death of 19 year-old Carlton Capone Caruth in Fayetteville on Sept. 6.
Sales was booked into the Lincoln County jail.
Officials said his arrest was a joint effort between TBI Special Agents, the U.S. Marshals Service, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department and deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
The TBI said his mother is the victim in a homicide they are investigating at the Oak Hill apartments on Belmont Avenue in Shelbyville. There is no official word if he is considered to be a suspect in the death of his mother.
Tennessee Pushing For More People To Register To Vote
September is National Voter Registration Month, and Secretary of State Tre Hargett wants social media users to add a special hashtag to their messages to encourage others to register to vote.
Hargett’s office says people can post photos to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram asking people if they’re registered and use the hashtag #GoVoteTN. Signs to hold in the photos can be printed at http://GoVoteTN.com .
The website also allows users to check their registration status or access a voter registration form.
Voters must be registered at least 30 days before an election to cast a ballot.
Patriot Day Award Winners
Manchester’s annual Patriot Day ceremony was held last Friday. After the tragic events and the loss of many lives 9-11-01, local veterans began sponsoring an event to honor local first responders. At the 14th annual event held on the square the following were honored with Patriot Day Awards; Jonathan Anthony, Jackie Matheny Jr. (Manchester Police Department), Michael Wilder (Tullahoma Police Department), Curtis Lane (New Union Fire Department), Gene Nickles Jr. (Hickerson Station Fire Department), Sgt. Larry Fraley (Tenn. Hwy. Patrol), Linda Forrester (Coffee Co. Rescue Squad), Melissa Carter (Hillsboro Fire Department), Stephen Sharketti (Coffee County Sheriff’s Department), Richard Steiner (Tullahoma Fire Department), Emmitt “Casey” Wright, Gary Gesell, and Roger Chambers (Manchester Fire Department), Kim Beard (911 Dispatch) and Curtis Bennett (Summitville Fire Department).

CHS Lady Raider Golf Claims District Title, Boys Finish 2nd

The Lady Raider golf team claimed their 3rd straight District 8AAA title on Monday with a 29 stroke win over second place Franklin County. The Lady Raiders shot a 173 on the day led by senior Teagan Perry who shot an 86 to finish 2nd overall. Savannah Quick was one stroke back at 87 to finish 3rd overall and Sophie Vinson shot a 90 to finish 5th.
The Red Raiders kept their season alive with a 2nd place finish in the district tournament as they shot a 335 on the day. Tullahoma finished first at 319 while Franklin County was third at 368. Austin Farris shot the low round for Coffee County with a 79 which was good for a 4th place individual finish. John Parigger shot an 82, Reid Lawrence carded a 86 and Hayden Proffitt got around in 88 for Coffee County which improved to 50 and 25 on the season. Both teams will advance to next week’s Region tournament scheduled for Monday at Tullahoma.
Westwood Soccer Draws with Community, Claims Regular Season Conference Title
The Lady Rocket soccer team claimed a regular season conference title on Monday with a 1 to 1 draw at Community. Reyna Flores had a first half goal for Westwood as Abbi Lowery’s 7 saves gave the Lady Rockets a 1 to 0 lead at intermission. Community evened the score midway through the second half. Lowery finished the match with 19 saves.
The Lady Rockets finish the regular season with a 6-0-1 record and will receive a bye in next week’s conference tournament. Westwood will be in action on Friday, September 25th in the conference tournament semifinals. The championship will be played on Saturday morning, September 26th at 10. The semifinals and finals will be held at Dyer-Bouldin Field
CCMS Soccer Drops North on Monday Night
Hitting the field for the first time in 11 days, the CCMS Lady Raider soccer team hosted North Franklin in a friendly on Monday afternoon on their home pitch. The Lady Raiders showed no rust from the layoff as they scored 3 second half goals in route to a 4 to 0 win. Jenna Garretson gave the Lady Raiders the lone score in the first half as Coffee County had several good scoring chances turned back by the Lady Gators keeper. Julia Duncan added goals in the 32nd and 49th minutes before Journey Arnold found the back of the net in the final minute off an assist from Duncan to lift the Lady Raiders record to 5-0-1 on the season. The Lady Raiders will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Winchester to take on South Franklin. That match kicks off at 5:00 PM.
