9/21/15 — Ronald David King
Ronald David King, age 47 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Unity Medical Center in Manchester. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 at 2 PM at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home with Bro. Bob King officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 1 PM until the service time.
Mr. King, a native of Norton, VA was the son Ralph King of Manchester and the late Dorothy Horner King. He was raised in Anderson, IN and graduated from Highland High School. He was a U S Army veteran. Mr. King was a people person and he loved to interact on Facebook. He also loved to ride his Harley.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica King.
In addition to his father, he is survived by one son, Jonathon King of Middletown, OH and one brother, Bob King and his wife, Brandi of Manchester.

9/20/15 — Roger Dale Simmons
Simmons, Roger Dale, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Thursday,
September 20th, 2015 at his residence at the age of 66. Mr. Simmons was
born in Indiana to the late Benjamin and Mary Hudson Simmons. During his
life he worked as a Machine Operator at Worth Sports and was of the
Baptist faith. He loved baseball, the Oakland Raiders, the Florida State
Seminoles, and enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. In addition to his
parents, Mr. Simmons is preceded in death by one daughter, Caroline Lynn
Simmons; one brother, David Ray Simmons; and two sisters, Nancy A.
Simmons and Anna Mae Simmons. He is survived by one son, Jimmy Simmons of
Shelbyville; one sister, Gloria Marie Kraft of Winchester; one brother,
Benjamin J. Simmons of Tullahoma; one grandson, Logan Simmons of Pelham;
three nieces, Diane Dorsett and her husband Thomas of Tullahoma,
Stephanie Goodey of South Carolina and Brittany Simmons of Manchester;
two nephews, David Christopher Simmons of Ohio and David Emory Simmons of
Manchester; four great-nieces, Amanda Coker and her husband Nathan of
Tullahoma, Samantha Dorsett of Manchester, Brooke Simmons of Manchester
and Cailey Kidd of Manchester; and one great-nephew, Wyatt Dorsett of
Tullahoma. Visitation for Mr. Simmons will be held on Sunday, September
20th, 2015 at Kilgore Funeral Home from 1:00-3:00pm with the funeral to
immediately follow at 3:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with
Pastor Jason Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial
Gardens.
Kilgore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Coffee Middle Football Stings Grundy County on Thursday
A 99 yard touchdown run by Blanton Brown right before the half lifted the CCMS football team to a 36 to 8 win over Grundy County on Thursday night in Tracy City. A pair of interceptions by stalled 2 Yellow Jacket drives including a pick at the goal line by Kyle Farless on the play before Brown’s 99 yard gallop. Hayden Skipper scored 2 touchdowns for the Raiders and had a 2 point conversion. Tanner Hulvey and Brandon Jernigan each had a touchdown and a 2 point conversion. With the win, the Raiders improved their record to 5 and 1 on the season as they prepare to take on CTC foe Warren County on Tuesday night in a 6:30 PM game to be held at Carden-Jarrell Field. Thunder Radio will bring you the broadcast of that game as part of its Hometown Tuesday series.
Coffee Pot Alumni Game is Set for Saturday at Carden-Jarrell Field
Carden-Jarrell Field will be the site of the 2nd Coffee Pot football battle this fall as former Tullahoma and Coffee County Central football players will get the opportunity to “strap it on” one more time in the inaugural Battle for the Coffee Pot Alumni Game on Saturday night.
Alumni Football USA is sponsoring the full-contact game and the contest will adhere to the high school rules. Alumni Football has been in charge of organizing the event and will be supplying the equipment for both squads. Tickets to Saturday’s game will be $10 and can be purchased at the gate the night of the game. Former Red Raider player and coach Jamie Norris is heading up the Red Raider squad and all proceeds from the game go to benefit the Coffee County football program.

CHS Soccer Blanks Franklin County
A pair of second half goals by Caitlin Moore lifted the Coffee County CHS soccer team to a 3 to 0 win over Franklin County on the Lady Raiders home pitch Thursday night. Izzy Huddleston got the scoring started with a goal in the 29 minute to give Coffee County a 1-0 halftime lead. Moore got her first goal in the 59th minute off a pass from Abby Morgan to make it 2 to 0 with 21 minutes remaining. Moore added an unassisted insurance goal in the 69th minute. The Lady Raider defense was spectacular on the night as they held the Lady Rebels to only 4 shots on frame, all of which keeper Ali Shelton handled to preserve the shutout. With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to 2-3-1 in district play. The JV team was also victorious by a score of 4 to 3. Coffee County will be at home on Saturday as they host Wilson Central for an 11 AM match.
CCMS Soccer Rallies to Drop Tullahoma
Facing a 1 to 0 deficit in the second half, the CCMS Lady Raider soccer team got a pair of 2nd half goals to drop Tullahoma 2 to 1. Tullahoma, who had given Coffee County their only blemish on the season with a 1 to 1 tie back on September 3rd, got a goal at the 5 minute mark to take a 1 to 0 lead into intermission. Jade Arnold and Jenna Garretson notched the tying and winning goals respectively to lift the Lady Raider’s record to 7-0-1 on the season. The Lady Raiders host Warren County on Monday in a 5:00 PM match.
CHS Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Sewanee Meet
Running in their 2nd meet in 3 days did not seem to bother the CHS Cross Country teams on Thursday at St. Andrews-Sewanee as the Red Raiders came in 1st place in the 5 team meet. James Lynn finished in 3rd place followed closely by teammates Andy Rosson in 4th, Edgar Marceleno in 6th, Bradley Kishbaugh in 7th and Neil Slone in 17th. For the girls, Byanka Woods finished in 4th place, Makenzie Morgan in 5th, Katie Folke in 13th and Jasmine Farrar in 14th place. The Raiders and Lady Raiders travel to Normandy on Tuesday to compete in a meet at Arrowhead Ranch.
CCMS Volleyball Falls to Warren County on Thursday Night
After taking the first set by a score of 25 to 17, the CCMS volleyball team saw Warren County take the next 2 sets to claim the match win in McMinnville on Thursday. The Lady Pioneers eked out a 26 to 24 win in the 2nd set before clinching the match with a 15 to 9 decision in the decisive 3rd set. The Lady Raiders got 4 aces from Elizabeth Proffitt while Abigail Parker and Keri Munn each added an ace. Parker, Munn and Sarah West had Coffee County’s only 3 kills in the match while Amanda Mukai led the Raiders in assists with 2. The Lady Raiders close out the season on Friday with a 5 PM match at Eagleville.
Liberty Spoils Westwood Homecoming on Thursday Night

Carlee Sullivan and Jacob Floyd were crowned Westwood Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of Thursday’s game.
The Liberty Patriots scored 40 first half points while only having 3 offensive snaps to drop the Westwood Rockets football team 52 to 6 in Thursday’s Homecoming game at Dyer-Bouldin Field. Liberty returned a Westwood fumble on the opening kickoff for a touchdown and also returned 2 interceptions for touchdowns as the Rockets could not get a big play of their own. Westwood scored a 4th quarter touchdown on a 13 yard TD run from Trenton Thompson. Thompson finished the night with 3 carries for 55 yards. Henry Garcia had 1 run for 51 yards while Jacob Floyd rushed 15 times for 46 yards. In the halftime homecoming festivities, Floyd was named the Homecoming King while Carlee Sullivan was crowned the Homecoming Queen . Westwood concludes their season on Thursday, October 1st, as they travel to Eagleville. That game is set to kick off at 6:30 PM.
