Nashville Leads the State in Growth
Nashville and its surrounding areas are leading the state in population growth.
According to the Tennessee State Data Center, the Nashville metropolitan statistical area, which includes Murfreesboro and Franklin, had a 2015 population of more than 1.8 million people. That’s about 28 percent of Tennessee’s total pollution of 6.6 million.
Nashville ranked 36th out of 412 metropolitan statistical areas nationally for one-year growth from 2014 to 2015. The top 10 fastest-growing counties in Tennessee were either located in or bordered the Nashville area. They were Rutherford, Williamson, Wilson, Maury, Montgomery, Sumner, Dickson, Bedford, Davidson and Smith counties.

3/30/16 — Ronald Dean Miller
Ronald Dean Miller, age 72, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed into rest on
March 27, 2016 at the Alive Hospice in Nashville. Mr. Miller was a
retired United States Air Force Major. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Harold Alvin Miller and Mary Alice Dansdill Miller. Mr. Miller
is survived by his wife, Lucienne Verret Miller of Manchester, TN;
children, Angela N. Larsen of Omaha Nebraska and Peter A. Miller of
Plattsmouth, Nebraska; sister, Barbara Mueller of Laramie, Wyoming;
brother, Stephen Miller of Alpine, Utah; two grandchildren, Cole Larsen
and Jack Larsen both of Omaha, Nebraska; and a host of friends. A
memorial service was conducted on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
at the St. Mark Catholic Church located in Manchester, TN. In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mr. Miller’s memory to
the Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.

4/2/16 — Logan Maloy Frazier, Sr.
Logan Maloy Frazier, Sr., age 84, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away
into rest on March 27, 2016 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center
in Nashville. Mr. Frazier was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie
Clark Frazier; son, Logan Maloy Frazier, Jr.; parents, the late Ike
Frazier and Emma Ferrell Frazier ; and grandchildren, Christopher
Munsey, Jr. And Dala Elliott. Mr. Frazier was a retired Pest Control
Exterminator; a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Riley
Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his nine children, Kathy Banks
(Michael) of Normandy, TN, Debra Walter (Bill) of Lexington, KY, Teresa
Frazier of Manchester, TN, Pam Jamison (Eric) of Manchester, TN, Randy
Frazier (Jeanette) of Manchester, TN, Cindy Parsley (Ricky) of
Manchester, TN, Melodie Nelson (Cliff) of Flintville, TN, Elvis Frazier
of Manchester, TN and Susan Parsley (Donny) of Manchester, TN; 33
grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and
friends. Visitation was on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 5 – 8 p.m. The
funeral service was conducted on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Central
Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Bro. Dwight Duckworth and Bro. Michael
Banks officiating. Burial followed at the New Reddens Cemetery with U.S.
Army Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial
donations be made in Memory of Logan M. Frazier to the Horizon Health &
Rehabilitation Center, 811 Keylon St., Manchester, TN 37355.

Melba Christine Tudors
Melba Christine Tudors, age 57 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on
March 25, 2016. She was employed with Marcole, Inc. in Manchester as an
Assembly Wire Cutter. She is survived by her son, Eric S. Stanga of
Versailles, MO. No local public services were scheduled.

South Carolina Man Charged after Hit and Run on I-24
In an arrest warrant, Tennessee Highway Patrolman Lazaro Serna says Thomas Eugene Roach age 41 of Mattie Lane in Summerville, SC left the scene of the accident. He was later captured by deputies with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department at a gas station.
Roach was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and immediate notice of an accident and later charged with violation of probation. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail under a bond of $12,500 and is to be in court to answer the charges on June 14, 2016, he’ll be in court later this month on the violation charge.
No report was available on those who were injured.
Shelbyville Man Charged with Theft
Investigators with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Wilson, 34, of Shelbyville, for the thefts from the site on Sims Road in March.
Several thousand dollars worth of stolen equipment were recovered during the investigation.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Lewisburg Police Department assisted in recovering the stolen property.
Wilson was charged with burglary and two counts of theft over $1,000. His bond was set at $40,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court April 20.
Motlow Hosting Job Fair
The Moore County campus of Motlow State Community College will host an annual Hiring Fair Thursday, Apr. 7, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The fair will be held in the Forrester Student Center, Lincoln County Bank Dining Hall. The fair is open to all students and the public.
“The purpose of the hiring fair is to connect potential employees with prospective employers,” said Brenda Cannon, director of student and campus relations. “With hundreds of Motlow students preparing to graduate in May, this could be the skilled, job-ready pool of applicants employers seek. We encourage job seekers to come prepared to speak directly with potential employers.”
The companies and agencies that have confirmed participation include: Ascend Federal Credit Union, Big G Express, Inc., Calsonic Kansie, North America; Christopher Equipment, Inc., Exchange Media Group, Family Staffing Solutions, Fast Jack’s Restaurant, Fastenal, Fred’s Inc., G Squared, LLC; Goodman Manufacturing, Kelly Services, KK’s Loans Music & Jewelry, Lincoln County Health System, Manpower, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Tyson Foods, Inc., Williamson County Schools, and Walmart Distribution Center.
Area residents from throughout the Motlow service area are welcome to attend the hiring fair as well.

Don’t Wait until you’re 16 to Drive
Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to sponsor a car and driver. They are also invited to sponsor helmets and volunteer to work on race day to make this a successful and fun-filled day. Driver registration is on April 5th and the 19th at C.D. Stamps Community Center from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and there is a $30 entry fee. A birth certificate is required for age verification.
In order to be eligible to race there are specific requirements for each division. For the Stock Division a child must be between the ages of seven to thirteen, and they must not turn fourteen on or before July 31. The combined weight of car and driver cannot exceed 200 pounds. For the Super Stock Division a child must be between the ages of nine and eighteen, and they must not turn nineteen on or before July 31. Combined weight cannot exceed 240 pounds. For the Masters Division a child must be between the ages of ten and twenty, and they must not turn twenty-one on or before July 31. The maximum weight is 255 pounds. Average car weight is 65 pounds.
There is a Special Kids Division for children with a medically diagnosed disability, which a physician is willing to document. The child rides along with another driver in a double seated car. For this division the child must be seven to eighteen years old and may not exceed the weight limit of 185 pounds. The competition is also qualifier for the First Energy All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio, July 13, 2016.
