CCMS Hoops Splits with South Franklin on Monday

The Coffee County Middle School Raiders and Lady Raiders traveled to Cowan on Monday night to take on their heated rivals from South Franklin.  The girls used a big second half to roll up a 42 to 25 win.  The Red Raiders saw South hit a free throw with no time remaining in the game as they fell 29 to 28.

After a nip and tuck first half, the Lady Raiders outscored South 15 to 3 in the 3rd quarter to capture the win and the season sweep of the Lady Trojans.  Bella Vinson led all scorers with 26 points for Coffee County.  Marley Perry added 8 points while Kylie Phillips finished with 4 points for the Lady Raiders.

After trailing by 8 points entering the 4th quarter, the Red Raiders rallied to tie the game with 8 seconds remaining with South.  As South took a half court heave at the buzzer, a foul was whistled on Coffee County for fouling the shooter.  South hit the first free throw to capture the one point win.  Hayden Hullett had a pair of 3 pointers in the 4th quarter to key the comeback as he finished with 6 points.  Jaxon Vaughn and Trevor Horne also finished with 6 points for the Red Raiders.

The middle school Raider cagers are on the road Thursday night when they travel to Woodbury to take on Cannon County.  The girls game will tip off at 6 PM and will be played at Cannon County High School.
