The Coffee County Middle School basketball teams opened their post-Thanksgiving schedule as they welcomed North Franklin to the CCMS gym on Monday night. The Lady Raiders had to rally after trailing by as many as 5 points in the first half to capture a 43 to 38 win. The Red Raiders blew a 17 point halftime lead in a 45 to 44 defeat at the hands of the visiting Gators.
After a sluggish first quarter that saw the Lady Raiders held to 6 points, Coffee County trimmed the Lady Gators 5 point lead to 2 points by the intermission. In the second half, the Lady Raiders outscored North 12 to 7 in the 3rd quarter to hold off the upset minded Lady Gators. Bella Vinson was the leading scorer for Coffee County as she netted 23 points. Kiya Ferrell added 8 points with all of those coming in the 2nd half.

The Red Raiders were held to 3 field goals in the 2nd half as they dropped the conference tilt to North. After leading 30 to 13 at the intermission, Coffee County saw North outscore the Raiders 19 to 4 in the 3rd quarter to send the game into the final 6 minutes virtually knotted. Coffee County was 13 of 22 at the free throw line on the night in the one point loss. Jaxon Vaughn led the Raiders in scoring with 13 points. Marshall Haney added 11 points and Kyle Farless finished with 8 points.
Coffee County is back in action on Thursday night when they play host to West Tullahoma. The girls’ game will tip off at 6 PM at the CCMS Gym.
