Westwood Splits Road Games with Eagleville on Monday

The Westwood Rockets and Lady Rockets traveled to Rutherford County on Monday night for a Duck River Valley Conference doubleheader with Eagleville. The Lady Rockets came up short in a 33 to 16 loss while the Rockets broke a 7 game losing streak in a 49 to 44 win.
The Lady Rockets were able to go toe to toe with the Lady Eagles for much of the first half trailing by 3 at intermission. Eagleville was able to pull away in the 2nd half as they outscored Westwood 21 to 7 after intermission to earn the season sweep over the Lady Rockets. Westwood was led in scoring by Valerie Barger who finished with 5 points. Haidyn Campbell finished with 4 points while Clarissa Barrera netted 3 free throws.

After jumping out to a 14 to 2 lead in the boys’ game, Westwood saw Eagleville fight back to only trail by 4 points at the half. The Rockets dominated the 3rd quarter only to see the Eagles make it a game in the 4th quarter before closing the door. The Rockets were led in scoring by Trenton Thompson who scored 17 points. Cruz Pitsinos added 9 points and Wyatt Nugent finished with 7 points.
Westwood is off until Monday when they head to Lynchburg to face Moore County. Tip-off is set for 6 PM. Westwood’s next home game is on Thursday, December 1st when Cascade visits the Joel Vinson Gym for the Annual Teddy Bear Toss.
