Brittany Michelle Evans of Manchester was recently charged with second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
After a court appearance on Wednesday, Judge Vanessa Jackson denied a request for Evans’ bond to be lowered. She will remain at the Coffee County Jail in a $50,000 bond in connection with the death of her newborn baby last year.
According to Coffee County District Attorney Craig Northcott, Evans is accused of using methamphetamines while pregnant.
This is the first time charges like this have been filed in the State of Tennessee.
