A pair of goals from Beatris Barrera and a goal and assist by Faith Willoughby powered the Westwood Lady Rocket soccer team to a 3 to 0 win over Cascade on Thursday night at Dyer-Bouldin Field. Abby Lowery was perfect in goal for Westwood as she had 10 saves on the night.
Barrera opened the scoring in the 7th minute off a feed from Willoughby to stake Westwood to a 1-0 lead. 3 beautiful saves by Lowery in the 10th and 11th minute kept the Lady Champions off the scoreboard as the match neared the half. Willoughby pounced on a deflected shot by the Cascade keeper in the last minute of the first half and drilled a shot into the back of the net to make it 2 to 0 at the break. Barrera notched her second goal in the 44th minute to lift Westwood to a perfect 2 and 0 record to start the season. The Lady Rockets will host St Andrew’s-Sewanee on Tuesday in a 4:30 PM contest at Dyer-Bouldin Field.
